    Advantages Advantages Seem very organised and provides an efficient service. Cheaper than most independent retailers.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite often out of stock on many models. About a month's wait.

    Currys.co.uk ************** Last year we bought a new washing machine from them, we decided to buy online as we couldn't make up our minds when we were in the shop and having had our washing machine out of action for almost two days we needed a new one quick!     Intro: Two weeks ago, just as my life was starting to plod along nicely, my washing machine broke. As is always the case, this happened slap bang in the middle of a very heavy, stinky wash (my other half’s work clothes and running gear).     UPDATE FEATURED AT THE END OF THIS ORIGINAL REPORT PREVIOUSLY ENTITLED - HAVE CURRYS CRACKED IT? We've all been to some of the high street stores such as Comet, Argos, and Dixons and we respect them (to some degree at least) as an established brand name that we can trust and expect good service from. With this in mind we also expect the same from their websites. i personally believe that established companies such as these can afford to ensure that their sites have anticipated and catered for their customers needs.     I bought a washing machine 2 weeks ago through their website and I have had the most appalling experience with them. They alloted a time slot 7 days after the purchase was confirmed so I found myself being rudely awaken on a Saturday at 8:00 am. Two delivery men came and dropped the washing machine hastily. They then gave us some sort of excuse and told us they had to ''park the lorry somewhere else' and promised to come back straight up to install the machine and remove the old one. They never did.     I would give Currys a 0/10! I found the products I wanted, a matching fridge and freezer (separate) and ordered them online. There was a reduction if you bought both together and a place where you could put in your postcode and it told you if they were in stock. I did this, they were in stock so I ordered them as a package. At that time (over a bank holiday) I could have got them cheaply anywhere else, as other shops were also doing promotions but Currys had the best deal beause of the reduction for buying both.     First a bit of background. I recently moved house, so needed to buy some new electrical goods for my home. My son drove me to Curry's with the intention of purchasing a washing machine and a fridge freezer, as well as a couple of smaller items. OK, so the store is spacious and well lit, and there are a multitude of items on offer to choose from. Thats the good news. Now for the bad. I chose my goods, saying to the salesman that I needed the fridge freezer urgently, as my food was going off rapidly and I was having to throw a lot of it away.     Went into Curry's on Friday to purchase a fridge freezer on the condition that it was delivered express delivery the following day,paid for the product in cash and was given the information that delivery was guaranteed the following day.I received a telephone call that evening giving me a delivery time in a four hour slot for Saturday.The delivery did not materialize by the stated time and I had been out to purchase food for my freezer in the expectation that it would have been delivered by the time i got home,I rang up the delivery depot to find out what had happened to my purchase and was ... more

    I am one of those people who like to research before buying...and I had read reviews of Currys which were less than complimentary...but the tumble dryer I wanted was offered online by them at a good price, with free delivery and free recycling of my old machine. I owned a washer dryer (never again). The washer broke and I decided to replace it with a seperate washer and tumble dryer.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Lied to, not called back when told I would be, no-one seems to know what they are talking about

    I have never ever experienced such awful, incompetent service from a retailer. Over the last 6 weeks dealing with Curry's I have lost count how many times I have been told someone would call me back and they haven't or given misinformation. I ordered a washer/dryer which did not work and got it changed through the manufacturer. This one worked for 5 days before breaking which is when I contacted curry's to get a refund. The girl I spoke to on the telephone asked me if I would like to change it for a different machine which i did but was aware that Comet had this in store at a cheaper price ... more

    we recentley purchased a 42" Samsung tv from our local store, the staff were helpful enough and we organised for the delivery the tv arrived, after 5 weeks it broke down this is were the nightmare of currys aftersales starts, i wont bore you with all the deatils but : first off they arranged for an engineer to come in 48 hours, he never came they then told us they knew what the problem was but couldn't get parts so we would have to wait upto 28 days before they would replace it, not good enough when you've spent that kind of money. they would not even give us a temporary replacement.
