'Cusquena' (pronounced CUS-KEN-YA) beer is Imported from the Cusco area of the Peruivian Andies. Cusquena comes attractively packaged, it's hard to miss. It's made from natural ingredients which includes pure glacial water (18,000 feet in the Andies) and is made from Malt and Saaz hops, the latter is found in European largers (ie Czech version of Budweiser). It's a 5% beer and comes in two types, the 'pale' and 'premium' Dark. Brewed since 1912 in Cusco which is about 40 Km's from Machu Picchu (the world heritage site). I brought the pale beer (4x 33cl) although I that title doesn't do it ... more

Advantages Advantages Very crisp beer, refreshing on hot days, nice to know where it comes from.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small packs, less widely available than I'd hope, easy to drink!

I normally go after dark ales and bitters but on a hot summers day nothing ... more

Advantages Advantages Clean Crisp and Refreshing Lager. Different from the normal stuff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not widely available and only 4bottles in a pack!

Cusquena is a lager beer brewed in the mountain city of Cusco high in the Peruvian Andes in South America. It is an imported beer so therefore the beer you buy in the UK is the same beer that you would buy in Peru! None of the rubbish that you drink thinking its the proper drink only to find its brewed by Interbrew or somebody in the UK, this comes from Peru!! A percentage of the money from the sale of this beer goes to help under privilidged children in Peru, so you're doing your bit for charity too!! It has a nice clean taste, really pure and I think its really good. Im always up for trying ... more

1 Star Quick review of Cusquena Peruvian Lager Beer by mcunn 03/08/2008
I am a seasoned beer/lager drinker and did not like this beer taste as it left a sour taste in my mouth even on the second bottle.I also had a sour taste in my mouth on account of the price at €4.95 per bottle in Scoozis Restaurant in Cork City.
