THE WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE Review with images

AdvantagesMakes Non-Cyclists Think. Free Event. Only ONE Sock Required.

DisadvantagesNot Funny In Poor Weather. Not For the Prudish. Smacks of Sensationalism

"...bikes I guess…..) to celebrate cycling and the human body. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against oil dependency." The organisers go on to explain that the WNBR differs from other mass cycle events due to its 'astonishing naked element'. They claim that most bystanders experience a combined feeling of 'amusement, shock and disbelief'. The Brighton ride was organised to start at 10.30am, finishing ..." Read review

Come On Guys, It's Not Really A War You Know Review with images

AdvantagesHelps you live longer

Disadvantages...as long as you don't go and get yourself killed.

"...them that I TEACH safer cycling and wouldn't dream of jumping a red light cuts no ice - I'm set in their mind as a light-jumping pavement-hogging buffoon with no thought for others. Coming from a car driver, this is rich. I suspect that 99.5% of jumped traffic lights are perpetrated by car drivers, and as for vehicles with their wheels on the pavement whilst the owner uses the ATM or drops Araminta off for her Woodcraft Folk classes, just don't ..." My life Cycle

AdvantagesKeeps you fit

Disadvantagesmakes your legs ache

"...me because I ahve been cycling all my life. The first bike I remember having was a metallic orange chopper. Some of you might know what a chopper is especially as they have just made a comeback. A chopper was a laid back bike with handle bars that turn in towards the elongated seat. The gears were like what you'd expect to find in an automatic car with a red handle to make it easy to locate. This bike lasted me for years, then when I was about 12 ..." Read review

A helmet review funnily enough

AdvantagesGeneral design and comfort

DisadvantagesNone came to mind

"I've got a confession to make, this review isn't of the eclipse helmet but of its alternative the "Mojave" incarnation of Giro's helmets. Am I doing this to get more reads? No, in fact I'm not expecting very many because its a pretty specialised product but reads arn't why I'm writing this. I'm writing because I have an opinion on something that I hope at least one person will find useful. Besides I had to write my review here because it didn't have ..." Read review

Multi-Storey Musings

AdvantagesA literal and legitimate high

DisadvantagesReturning to earth

"I used to be afraid of heights. To cope as a child I would practice my own aversion therapy, climbing trees with my chums as a way to prove myself to myself. Over time the therapy took hold and I came to enjoy the exhiliration of height - graduating from trees to hilltops offering miles distant vistas. And even in the mundanity of daily life a simple pleasure could be exacted - a pleasure I had always thought could only be achieved with motor vehicular ..." Read review

Claud Butler Spectre MTB

AdvantagesFrame, construction, value, you name it - it's got it..

Disadvantagesprobably seems an oldie and unfashionable in these days of FS bikes.

"A quick intro here - the CB Spectre is a 7005 Aluminium rigid framed mountain bike, which is in fact manufactured by Falcon Cycles. The Spectre's 7005 Alu frame is described as a '7005 Tubeset', which usually refers to most of the main construction being of 7005 tubing, which is lightweight and is reputed to share most, if not all, of the strength and rigidty features of a good medium-quality steel frame, and hence is lighter than the steel, but ..." Bikes for every pocket and purpose

AdvantagesIf you're careful you may end up with a new best friend

DisadvantagesIt's a minefield out there. Be careful!

"...might not put you off cycling for life. £250-£400 ========= Starting to get fairly tasty. You'll often find reliable kit on these bikes, front suspension becomes a realistic option if you want to take a bit of the buzz out of the steering and may be alright for light off-roading, although if you can go for a rigid, you'll have a really nice bike. Full-sus will still be heavy and largely useless. £400-£550 ========= This is where the ..." Read review

The Best Sport: Dangerous But Fun! Review with images

AdvantagesA great fun way to get out and about!

DisadvantagesYou can really hurt yourself ! ! !

"Mountain biking or MTB for short is a great sport, but it can be very dangerous. This review should tell you every thing you need to know. Picking the right bike: -------------------------- You will obviously need a nice looking bike but it has to be right for you. First of all you will have to ask yourself two questions. 1. What are you going to use your bike for? There are five types of mountain biking: . DIRT JUMPING (DJ) . CROSS ..." Read review

Check insurance if going downhill fast

AdvantagesAdrenalin rush, freeky scary

DisadvantagesBloody tiring!

"Mountain biking (day 2 of multi activity hol - see seperate op) is something I'd done before but never on a half decent bike with suspension and good brakes!! You'll be amazed at the difference if you haven't got a bike with the above. It's hard going and you need to be really fit to go any great distance as you are just plain knackered if you go uphill for any length of time. Use the really low gears but try and maintain a reasonable momentum ..." Read review

Ultimate Racer

AdvantagesFast wearing gears, good brakes

Disadvantagesaverage fron forks

"The 8000 comes stock with an all LX/XT mix, and a system 3 front hub. It also has a Judy (I admit to not knowing which one, because I swapped for a Manitou Pro-C immediatly after I got it). I also swithed the stock clipless peadals for Shimano M-747's, which have performed wonferfully. Over all this is the best hardtail bike I have ever owned, I had some troubles with the LX crank, the chainrigs seem to wear way to fast, but thats about it. It weighs ..." Read review

Hard Tail

Advantagesspeed, agility, weight

Disadvantagesbackside tends to take more punishment

"The beauty with Hard Tail MTB riding is primarily in having the lighter bike, giving you greater agility and thus providing a greater test of skill (if you dare push it to the limits). I ride a Specialized Rockhopper Pro year 2000 model, which cost me £800 (now available for £650 (bargain)). I have ridden over 1500 miles off road in 15 months and can be seen regularly at Cannock Chase, Sutton Park, Warwickshire Bridal Ways, Wyre Forrest and Sherwood ..." Read review

rock shock psylo race fork

Advantageseveryting

Disadvantagesnoting

"this is the ultimate all rounder fork but this is not just an average allrounder it it a master of all trades it preforms exellently at daul salom (2000 champ) but it the best single crown downhill fork with a massive 125 mill of travel only beaten by a bomber z1 (130mm) also this rips at cross country by having climate control where you can lok the fork out (make it riged ) at the flick of a switch ( it also has blow out in case you hit a huge rock ..." Something to do on a cold saturday

AdvantagesIt keeps me fit

Disadvantagesit wears me out!!

"Having only just starting MTBing during the summer, i've not really had the chance to experience many trails. And living in Norfolk it takes a while to find somewhere to go!! My aim is to be able to ride at Afan Argoed by this time next year (guess i better find some hills!). At the moment, i'm riding a Kona Lana'i, which wasn't the best bike on the market, but it does the job all the same! Before the summer, i wouldn't even have considered going ..." Read review

I'm getting bored of boardman

AdvantagesGreat class, nice guy

DisadvantagesToo specialised

"Chris Boardman has to be the great enigman of cycling. Having won the prologue of the tour de France three times, and the longest spell in yellow for any English person, it seems to be a shame that our country's best cyclist has fallen by the wayside, and is lagging in the other's wheeltracks. I guess it all stems down to speciality. Training for the time-trial restricts the rest of your talents. You can't expect Chris to be a great climbler like ..." Read review

A Good Cycling Helmet

AdvantagesLots of vents to keep you cool

DisadvantagesA bit expensive at £80

"The new cycling crash helmet from giro keeps up with the previous high standards. The Eclipse has 24 vents well designed so that you can actually feel the wind in your hair. The central vents are designed to run behind the front pads, which combined with coolmax material, means that the pads don’t collect sweat. Only about two thirds of the helmet is covered in hardshell. The helmet is very stylish and has kept up with the fashion of the times. The ..." Read review
