An easy to use service

Advantages: Fairly low cost, fixed rate dealing, fast, easy to navigate site.
Disadvantages: Limit orders expire after one attempt to trade.

...a low cost SIPP from DLJ Direct. (A SIPP is a personal pension that allows you to trade individual shares rather than invest in a fund). My first impression of the site was that it was easy to navigate, and all I had to do was print off the application form, fill it out and post it. I then waited a week or two for the pension transfer to be completed, and eagerly waited the 24 hours stated when I was told my user ID and password were on there way. ...
...My only complaint about the DLJ Direct web site is with the log in. The log in screen takes some time to load, and any log in details which you have typed are lost if the screen load has not been completed. Most other sites I use allow you to save time, by logging in before the screen has fully loaded. Dealing is straightforward, but you have to specify a number of shares rather than a pounds sterling value, together with the stock code of the shares ...

DLJ just fine

Advantages: reliable, fast and effective
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive and complex setup

I started dealing with DLJ after halifax share express let me down time and time again. I have to say they are very good and although I don't deal that often they haven't let me down. You are able to trade in more stocks than some brokers, include AIM market and I believe they are seriously considering adding a number of foreign markets. The dealing price is fair being within £5 of every one else - Not that much considering trades of just £1000 - ...
...firm backing up the internet business. I have to admit that i don't like the need to deposit funds into my DLJ account before being allowed to trade. This means I need to plan my deals meticulously and am unable to take up any unexpected opportunities that crop up. ...

DLJ Direct is my preferred online broker. Efficient , speedy and reasonably priced.

Advantages: Trades are quickly shown on your screen and portfolios updated. I have not had any errors apparent in any transactions.
Disadvantages: Portfolio prices are from the previous day. It is not possible to dictate a market price for buying or selling.

I have been trading with DLJ Direct for a year now and I would not change to another broker even if they were cheaper. I started by sending a cheque to be held in my account - and earning interest. Buying shares is simplicity itself and your account and portfolio are updated within minutes. One drawback is not being able to place an order to buy or sell at a preferred price. A price is quoted and held for 30 seconds after which it has to be "refreshed". ...
...market is closed as the price is at the whim of the market. Dividends are sent to your account with DLJ and funds from selling shares are available to be used immediately they appear on the screen. I find the efficiency and speed of DLJ Direct offsets the minor disadvantages. ...

Concise, secure and fairly well done

Advantages: Concise, easy to use, freephone customer service, UK and US trading
Disadvantages: Money transfers take long, site has some niggles, transactions costs masked/not obvious, lots of snail mail coming all the time

I have been using DLJ for the past few months and find it works well for what I use it for (small scale, no day trading). The site is well laid out, except for a few niggles, the freephone service is excellent when you need to use it and I like the way i can trade both US and UK (though this does require two setup procedures - more as a consequence of differing regulatory issues on the two sides of the Atlantic I believe) The site allows you to ...
...money to your account on DLJ takes about ten days (for US trading) and also sorting out all your documentation takes a while too (US again). All in all, not bad. Not perfect, but not terrible. I'd check out all the options and see what suits you best. I gave up on Charles Schwab and chose DLJ over them. But for you it will certainly be different. ...

Excellent Service and Research Facilities

Advantages: Easy to logon using any computer
Disadvantages: Nominee account only

DLJ Direct are an online Stockbroker enabling members to buy and sell UK shares via the internet. Portfolios are held in a nominee account (they keep your share certificates) and shares can be held in a tax free self select ISA account. I have been using DLJDirect for about 6 months now and find the website and logon process very straightforward. I previously used Barclays Stockbrokers but found the use of digital certificates complicated when away ...
...DLJ direct. DLJ Direct also have excellent research facilities, which is provided free and I would recommend them to people searching for a good quality and easy to use online broker. Looking at dealer charges and bid offer spreads shows that DLJ are very competitive. Funding the account is easy via switch. You don't need to post them a cheque to get started. Current trade commission is 14.95 GBP for amounts less than 1500 GBP and a maximum trade ...

What I think of DLj-Direct

Advantages: reliable service, always able too place an order, nominee
Disadvantages: More expensive than the competition, No level2 orders, not able too short etc

...trading (not spread betting). And putting an order on a level 2 screen would be a good start aswell.. Also live prices so you don't have too go else where.. And level2 would be even better... DLJ started off well, but seems slack by 2001 standards happy trading ...

DLJ is good but!

Advantages: ease of use
Disadvantages: no limit order facility

I began dealing with DLJ about one year ago, after being enticed by the special offer of an initial commission free period. I was my first experience of online dealing. The commission free period allowed short term trading even with small ammounts of capital. I had great fun and made some money. The web site was very easy to navigate but lacked one important feature. They do not provide a facility to place a limit order. This could prove costily ...

Online Share Trading

Advantages: good reliable service, interest on credit balances, good customer service
Disadvantages: not the cheapest, no dealing in European markets

I opened an account with DLJ Direct and was very impressed with there service. There commission charges are about the same as some other online stockbrokers, but there service is excellent. It is not the cheapest service, TD Waterhouse is cheaper (Starts from £9.95) while DLJ is £14.95. You can open an account on the internet from there website www.dljdirect.co.uk, and they send you a form to sign, and that is it. You can deposit funds with them ...

Easy Peasy!

Advantages: Reasonable commission, easy to use, fast
Disadvantages: Sale proceeds take a while, excessive paperwork

...other online brokers, I decided DLJ Direct was the right one for me due to the simplicity of the system, and the fact that they offer real time dealing (you're given a price and have 60 seconds to confirm that you want to make a trade at that price.) The charges are reasonable - at a minimum £15 per trade, they're not the cheapest, but not high enough that they make too much difference. The site itself is easy to navigate, and making a trade is ...
...the portfolio tool (where, unfortunately, prices are only updated at the end of the day) and the real time quotes and charts. The site is fast, and I have never had any problems accessing my account. On the few occasions where there has been a problem with my order, it has been because the fixed price dealing function cannot be accessed, and I've been offered a market order instead. However, I've never had to do this as the fixed price function always ...

A good place to trade

Advantages: Easy Navigation
Disadvantages: Not yet find

dljdirect was the first online site, when I decided to trade in to shares and after that I had been recomended some other site by my friends but I think it is the best place, I found so far for this purpose. Easy and user friendly site navigation makes it more helpfull for online share dealing. Account handling and share dealing is also done very nicly. Overall performance is fine and It is also not very heavy for 56k internet connection. One probelm, ...
...face this problem) is little bit slow update of stock quotes. If you looking quotes online and in the same time you are also having rates via Telephone. You will realise that the rate will be different and rate obtained on the telephone will be displayed on the web site after some minutes. But, this would not be a problem, if you are not bying or selling the shares on daily basis ( I hope that you understand, what I trying to tell :)) ...

DLJ - cheap

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: slow

Dljdirect is a online stockbroker. Initially attracting me with their free weeks trading I was initially pleased with there service. In a period of high levels of trading, they were forced to reject orders out of market hours. This was not particularly helpful as I often like to place trades in the evening instead of during the early morning rush. When I did try and place my orders during the first hour of the trading period I did find that there ...
...the shear volume of traffic on the site. As a result I sometimes ended up spending considerable amounts of time hitting the refresh button hoping for it to come back to me. Their prices are reasonable and there are no subscription charges. When I did want to credit my account the cheque took nearly a week to get through the system. Now that the demand for share trading has levelled off them seem to be coping quite well. Share trades are £14.95 min, ...

Overview

Advantages: Easy and helpful
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest

...gentle!! I have used DLJ for & months and have executed a number of trades with them. DlJdirect is very easy to trade with, but if you ever get confused they do have a FREEPHONE helpline (unlike many other stokbrokers). They are currently offering to pay the stamp duty on every trade for your first month. Good Points: They send a paper copy of each trade and a monthly statement. Easy to use and well laid out site. Evereything in one site to enable you to deal successfully.

Advantages: Everything in one site.
Disadvantages: none

I have used dljdirect.co.uk for approx 1 year and have found that it has fortified my armoury, with respect to researching and choosing companies to invest into. On this site you can get fundamental data, dividend announcements, upto date news and charts about U.K. and U.S companies. You can deal on both the U.K. and U.S. markets through a nominee account, deals can even be paid for with a debit card online making it extremely easy. Dljdirect give ...

Quality Service

Advantages: Fast, reliable, easy to use, online ISA
Disadvantages: UK stocks only

...That's why I went with DLJ and I reckon it was the right choice. It's not the cheapest but at £14.95 commission per trade and no annual charge it's not bad. I have never had any problems using the site, it's easy and very fast. It only takes a couple of clicks to trade and it hasn't crashed once. The helpline has always answered my call within 30 secs although the site is very straightforward so I haven'y had to call them much. The only downside ...
