D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G520

My intention, when I bought this card, was to install it in my desktop, PC to allow me to access the internet, the desktop PC’s cheap storage and printing facilities in my home office all from the comfort of my living room. My first hurdle was to get FreeBSD to recognise this card – and a quick web search revealed that I needed only enable the "ath" and "athhal" devices. I expect the card is also recognised under Windows/Linux – but I’ve not had reason to try those OS. After recently purchasing a new computer, I decided to jump on the bandwaggon of Wireless Networking. After a rather failed attempt with a previous setup , I discovered the new offering from D-Link - the DWL G520. I bought two for the fairly hefty price of about £120, and they installed without a problem. However problems started occuring when one of the computers was moved slightly further away, the cards failed to find each other.
