Advantages: Great setup kit for first time users Disadvantages: Doesn't mention security during setup (but is included)
...I was attracted to the D-Link DSL-904 as it was advertised as a "Wireless ADSL Router Kit". Since installation, I have gained quite a bit of knowledge on the technologies involved, but at the time of purchase, non of the other information available meant anything to me! The idea that everything I needed to connect two computers together came in a single box was very appealing as it could only make the whole process easier.
What's In The Box?
1. DSL-G604T ... ...it's just the model, but this is the box that connects everything, including the internet, together. It has a modem inside, and the router word comes from its ability to 'route' everything to the right place.
2. CAT 5 UTP Eternet Cable - this cable connect your main computer to the Router.
3. RJ11 ADSL Cable - in other words, this is a telephone cable, but it has a slightly different socket.

Advantages: Price Disadvantages: The Usb stick didn't work
I have set up 2 wireless networks with this router, it is incredibly easy to set up, literally just point and click.
My home network includes ADSL 512kbps connection though Tesco Broadband - £17 a month uncapped, this comes in through the normal phone socket and through a 'microfilter' that seperates the internet from the normal phone line, you need to put one of these on every telephone point - one for each device, these cost about two pounds each ... ...then comes into the back of the router and I have a wireless card in each of the 4 laptops I have around the house. The signal works well even through 4 or 5 brick walls, in a clear space it will work within 100m - even down the end of the garden.
To setup the router all you have to do is enter in the details of your adsl - username and password (as this router doubles as a ADSL modem!) then away you go. The wireless devices will automatically pick ...
