Advantages: Low cost, comfertable, and high spec alternative. Disadvantages: Poor depreciation, and unjustly poor street cred.
Ok, its a Daewoo your thinking. Hold that thought, we'll come back to that later.
Firstly, I think it is not fair to compare this car to your Audi A4/6, your Passat, or your 5 series BMW etc... And if you have been driving a 4.0 litre Jag, or 276bhp Evo VI, then admit it, any car is going to seem "a little sluggish" in comparison. To really appreciate what this car represents, you should sit down, clear your thoughts, and listen to the calming words ... ...motorway.
Step up the Daewoo Leganza. I own one, I am 23 (not a fogey) and I am very suprised with it, Still - 3 years on. Why? I'll tell you. When I was looking at purchasing a car, I had roughly £16k to spend. Now, I WANTED a second hand BMW 520. I WANTED a Toyota Celica. Why did I not purchase one of these vehicles you ask? well, there are many reasons, here are just a few:
BMW: The only BMW's that came into my price range, were 2-4 years old, ...

...at the top of the Daewoo range and was developed on a design rejected by Jaguar and launched in the UK in 1997.
Styling is attractive, and though not exactly radical - you can see from certain angles that the designer was trying to impress the Ford bosses of Jaguar, but although a sensible design the Leganza can't be accused of being overly conservative. The Leganza is extremely well priced and packed with every conceivable extra and therefore is ...

...2007, a black S plate Daewoo Leganza CDX. 2 litre engine, grey leather interior, 10 slot CD player, air con, electrically adjustable drivers seat and electric windows all round. 60k on the clock, 10 months MoT and no bodywork problems.
It felt good on a test drive, easy to find a comfortable driving position and had plenty of room in the rear and boot. I didn't particularly want a large saloon, but this one felt alright. The garage promised to change ... ...having been done. £1200 and a week later it was on my drive.
I can't say it's been an outstanding 12 months in any way. Staid, boring, reliable - apart from a new battery to replace the original, just after the severest of cold days. Fuel consumption has been poor - around 30 mpg on a run and I'm not heavy footed. 38 mpg was the best I ever got, once!
Although this probably says more about the dealer I got the car from that the car itself, the ...

I own a leganza and i am extremely happy about some things and I am extremely disappointed with a few aspects.
The Engine is great, it performance is as good as a Honda or a Toyota. the pick up, the sustainability of the engine are good. The fuel consumption is above average and affordable. The seats and other in-car features are good too. On a long drive, the car is excellent. It stays up and the engine doesnt get worked up. Its easy to maintain ... ...speeding up or a gradual pick up of speed the engine responds equally. The suspension is not too close to the road and neither too high. This aspect can be viewed as both good and bad aspect. The good being that its neither too high nor too low, and the bad aspect is, its neither too high or too low. The wide body allows the car to set itself on the road very comfortably. It acts as an catalyst when in high speeds, controlling the car is quite easy ...

Advantages: Soo many extras Disadvantages: Fuel consumption, looks, lack of prestige
Okay, so the Leganza is NOT particularly a car of great beauty. But if you are interested in a car which is reliable, loaded with extras and excellent value for money then you could do a lot worse. The automatic version is not overly powerful however when you kick it down to accelerate you notice the power much more. During urban driving the petrol disappers as if by magic but on the open road its not too bad. The interior is spacious and comfortable ... ...£18000 the CDX-E comes with all the bells and whistles you could hope for - Air Con, Sat Nav, CD, Climate control, cruise control, traction control, speed sensitive power steering, twin airbags, ABS etc etc etc. Then there is the after sales service - if you buy the car new you get three years ( or 60000 miles) of free servicing, athree years' free AA cover, free insurance for the first year etc etc. All round worth the money - I wiould recommend ...

Quick review of Daewoo Leganza 2.0
I have owned a leganza for about two years now and it has been a reliable and surprisingly quick car. It comes with many extra features as standard and for a 2 litre engine has a good fuel consumption. The tax and insurance are about average. Unfortunately it dosnt look as good as it drives, looking like a bit like a jag from the back and a standard daewoo from the front, im 23 and get some stick for driving an 'old mans' car from friends but its spacious, comfortable and overall affordable. ...

Advantages: Value, comfort, size and condition, profile of usual previous owners Disadvantages: Lack of reputation, availibility and cost of spares, a bit thirsty
December (2008) we urgently needed an honest car for under £1.000 GBP. This is actually harder than it sounds and was made much easier when we found a Leganza SX registered in 2000 with relatively low mileage of 62k. The book price for a private sale is ridiculous at £500-£600 and these are actually changing hands at about £995 with service history.
In practice few other small or medium sized cars that are half decent can be found under £950,in ... ...to £2k. With a little more time or money we could have found a CDX at this price, however the SX (base model) we bought is still well equipped compared to mainstream models and we are pleased with it. If service history is poor it is important to negotiate payment or discount towards getting the cambelt (essential these are changed at 40k and 80k miles), auxilliary belts, also the oil changed as parts are expensive. Originally sold through Halfords, ...

This is the second daewoo i have had and i must say i am imprest, there is plenty of room inside and performance is not all that bad, for the money you pay you get a lot of car.It is a shame that the equipment inside is not the same as the CDX-E which is the next model up but on saying that the equipment leavel is still very good.
