Advantages Advantages Low cost, comfertable, and high spec alternative.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor depreciation, and unjustly poor street cred.

Ok, its a Daewoo your thinking. Hold that thought, we'll come back to that later. Firstly, I think it is not fair to compare this car to your Audi A4/6, your Passat, or your 5 series BMW etc... And if you have been driving a 4.0 litre Jag, or 276bhp Evo VI, then admit it, any car is going to seem "a little sluggish" in comparison. To really appreciate what this car represents, you should sit down, clear your thoughts, and listen to the calming words of my voice.... or, just read this review: To be honest, this car fits snuggly into a class of its own. Its not a prestige car, and its not a ... more

The Leganza sits at the top of the Daewoo range and was developed on a design rejected by Jaguar and launched in the UK in 1997. Styling is attractive, and though not exactly radical - you can see from certain angles that the designer was trying to impress the Ford bosses of Jaguar, but although a sensible design the Leganza can't be accused of being overly conservative. The Leganza is extremely well priced and packed with every conceivable extra and therefore is seen as a bargain in the Mondeo class - however it does lack any image. I would recommend you test drive a Leganza if value for ... more

Advantages Advantages Roomy, good interior, comfortable driving position

Disadvantages Disadvantages Parts rare and expensive, street prescence

My first larger car, my first 'luxury' car and my first Korean car. I think it will be the last in all three categories. I bought it in June 2007, a black S plate Daewoo Leganza CDX. 2 litre engine, grey leather interior, 10 slot CD player, air con, electrically adjustable drivers seat and electric windows all round. 60k on the clock, 10 months MoT and no bodywork problems. It felt good on a test drive, easy to find a comfortable driving position and had plenty of room in the rear and boot. I didn't particularly want a large saloon, but this one felt alright. The garage promised to change the ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages heating system,A/C system

I own a leganza and i am extremely happy about some things and I am extremely disappointed with a few aspects. The Engine is great, it performance is as good as a Honda or a Toyota. the pick up, the sustainability of the engine are good. The fuel consumption is above average and affordable. The seats and other in-car features are good too. On a long drive, the car is excellent. It stays up and the engine doesnt get worked up. Its easy to maintain an average speed without pushing the engine. Either a quick speeding up or a gradual pick up of speed the engine responds equally. The suspension is ... more

    Advantages Advantages Soo many extras

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel consumption, looks, lack of prestige

Okay, so the Leganza is NOT particularly a car of great beauty. But if you are interested in a car which is reliable, loaded with extras and excellent value for money then you could do a lot worse. The automatic version is not overly powerful however when you kick it down to accelerate you notice the power much more. During urban driving the petrol disappers as if by magic but on the open road its not too bad. The interior is spacious and comfortable and the extras are surprising for the price. At about £18000 the CDX-E comes with all the bells and whistles you could hope for - Air Con, Sat ... more

4 Stars Quick review of Daewoo Leganza by olliec4 25/07/2007
I have owned a leganza for about two years now and it has been a reliable and surprisingly quick car. It comes with many extra features as standard and for a 2 litre engine has a good fuel consumption. The tax and insurance are about average. Unfortunately it dosnt look as good as it drives, looking like a bit like a jag from the back and a standard daewoo from the front, im 23 and get some stick for driving an 'old mans' car from friends but its spacious, comfortable and overall affordable.

    Advantages Advantages Retail Package

Disadvantages Disadvantages Massive Depreciation, underpowered thrashy enginings,

I've always considered daewoos as washing machines with wheels. A brand of car where you pay for the service package and the car comes free... The old nexia and esperano were ancient Vauxhall designs which had been warmed up in a microwave, reasonable in most respects but the general concensous was you were driving something from the eighties. The new Leganza released in 1999 set out to prove that daewoo had an asperation to offer affordable luxury. Unfortunaltely like many korean dreams it's reaching for the stars to fast. The engine is the first stubling block. It never really feels eager ... more

Advantages Advantages Value, comfort, size and condition, profile of usual previous owners

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of reputation, availibility and cost of spares, a bit thirsty

December (2008) we urgently needed an honest car for under £1.000 GBP. This is actually harder than it sounds and was made much easier when we found a Leganza SX registered in 2000 with relatively low mileage of 62k. The book price for a private sale is ridiculous at £500-£600 and these are actually changing hands at about £995 with service history. In practice few other small or medium sized cars that are half decent can be found under £950,in our area, at this time, and most are about £1,500 to £2k. With a little more time or money we could have found a CDX at this price, however the SX ... more

Advantages Advantages Fully loaded if bought used, reliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages sucidal depreciation , tires and parts can be pricey

TheLeganza, sadly out of productioin is a fully laden gentleman's carriage. Build quality is similar to Toyota's Camry or a Vauxhall Vectra. The origianl price of the mid range CDX was £14k which dperiated by 75% within a couple of years! If bought used it makes a remarkable buy. I am on my second Daewoo and as slong as the Cambelt is changed at 40K it is pretty reliable. It is no "bird puller" from the exterior but the interior can seduce..... Before returning to University Research, I was a professional chauffeur and drove everyhting from a Bristol to a Royce and Bentley to Mclaren F1 and ... more

This is the second daewoo i have had and i must say i am imprest, there is plenty of room inside and performance is not all that bad, for the money you pay you get a lot of car.It is a shame that the equipment inside is not the same as the CDX-E which is the next model up but on saying that the equipment leavel is still very good. The service you get from the dealers is very good they are always on hand if you have any questions, and they are not pushy when i bought mine from a main dealer nothing was to much trouble, in the end it does not mater what the dealers are like it is the car is self ... more
