Danpak Spreadable

I regularly shop at Lidl and this is one of their products (I haven't seen it any-where else anyway). The manufacturer is Kerry Foods, based in Ireland, who are large food manufacture and I suspect make many of the other 'own brand products' but under the supermarket name. I think this product draws a close comparison to Lurpak spreadable (slightly salted) which I see as a premium spreadable butter. Danpak used to have 75% butter content (to April 2012), the new version now in new silver packaging (looking very similar to the Aldi Norpak!) has had it's butter content cut to 37% - what is going on? My wife has always sworn by Lurpak, whilst I have been happy to buy Danpak as a reasonable substitute, although it does not have the same richness of taste as Lurpak, but good enough for sandwiches etc. Lidl has obviously been changing it's focus from quality at reasonable prices to improving it's margin at the expense of quality...... Whilst we all like a bargain and it would be nice to find a a product equal too if not better than that of the market leader, thiscannot be said of Danpak Spreadable. When it comes to taste this product is not in the same league as Lurpakspreadable and as a regular user of Lurpak this product falls well short with a taste that can only be described as bland infact that is the problem it is quite tasteless.
