Advantages Advantages Interesting read about the world of David Beckham

Disadvantages Disadvantages Seen it all before in the newspapers

I am the biggest David Beckham fan ever, even though I don’t support Man Utd or Real Madrid, I do think he is one of the most gifted players in English football today along with Steven Gerrard. Even after all the recent controversy regarding David Beckham I still love him because I feel Victoria was part of the problem, but anyway I’m not reviewing his personal life, I am reviewing his book “My Side”. I got this as a birthday present so I don’t know how much it cost or where I got it from, but I do know you can get it from all good book shops, including WHSmiths ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to read and interesting

Disadvantages Disadvantages Later additions include bonus material not in this book

For anyone who is intrigued about the lifestyle of famous footballers, namely David Beckham, and what goes on in their lives, then this is the book for you. I was personally more interested in finding out the reasoning behind the 'boot' incident, where Beckham was hit in the head with a flying boot in the changing rooms by Alex Ferguson and his feelings during the time he was sent off playing for England against Argentina in Euro 98 for kicking Diego Simone. You hear and read a about a lot of things said about David Beckham in the papers, but I wanted to hear 'his side' from the man himself ... more

As a big Manchester United fan and a man who used to admire David Beckham I really thought I would love this book. But after reading just one chapter I found myself looking at the cover to see if it was David Beckham’s book I bought. I am watching him since I was 8 years old and with all respect there is not one intellectual bone in his body. He begins interviews with "er" so "er" at the end of the day like ye know what I mean. The book is obviously written by Beckhams collaborator Tom Watts. I feel this the first thing that really lets the book down unlike Roy Keane’s book, which ... more

Advantages Advantages Gorgeous Pics to dribble over

Disadvantages Disadvantages heard it all before ( all the national papers stuck in a book), Hard to follow

From Sainsburys £8.99 As a huge David Beckham fan both on & off the pitch. I decided to buy the paper back version of this book. I purchased this hoping to get all the gossip of the beckham household and exactly what went on between him and Ferguson. Lets just say I was very dissapointed to discover his book sounded exactly like his wifes autobiography (learning to fly) brought out 3 years before, the same extracts of where they met and the birth of their son Brooklyn (yes i know its gonna be the same) but not in the same words and sentences surely. The autobiography starts from his life as a ... more

Advantages Advantages Thorough account of David's work and personal life

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No bad points!

I used to hate David Beckham. Well I'm not the world's biggest Manchester United fan either. But after all the attention he got in the press last year; and not only for his football; events off the pitch aswell; I decided to see what the fuss was all about. The book made for a great Christmas present, and I found it hard to put down at many points. Beckham has a way of writing which to me seems really down to earth. He tells you how things are in a way that reminds me of mates talking together in a pub. I was a little apprehensive of the parts where he began to talk about his "differences" ... more

Advantages Advantages An interesting insight into the childhood and thought of the one and only DB.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

Upon hearing of David Beckham's most recent autobiography (at the time), I just had to give it a read. I've been a fan of football since I attended my first game at 6 months old with my father, and David Beckham is one of the players that I have an interest in. Almost a hero. Being a Sheffield Wednesday fan, you don't get too much success anymore, but this book was definitely a success with me! The childhood memories are almost comparable with other children you may know. The only difference is that 'Goldenballs' is one of the rare types, a footballer with REAL talent. This book takes you from ... more

Advantages Advantages gives a real insight into the man behind one of the most famous faces on the planet today

Disadvantages Disadvantages err, can't think of any right now

When I first read extracts of this book in a certain daily tabloid, i was slightly concerned that it would be a book full of Mr Beckham having a go at Sir Alex, however let me reassure you that it is not. Even in the parts of the book where there are 'confrontations' between the two, there is no malice in the way it is written. It is dealt with, and then he moves on. I asked for the book for christmas, and wasn't disappointed. I finished it in no time. I found the book to be a gentle read, it wasn't a challenging book to pick up last thing at night, which made it ideal for a spot of bedtime ... more
