Ah, zombies, they seem to be all the rage at the moment. We've had zombie flick after zombie fick hitting the big (and little) screen and it seems like everyone is cashing in. Games are no different. There have been copious amounts of them over the last few years - Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, Killing Floor, even the 'Undead Nightmare' expansion for Red Dead Redemption. Call of Duty fans even have the zombie survival mode to enjoy. And why not? Killing zombies is fun after all. Nevermind the fact that they were probably once your loved one, neighbour, school teacher or work colleague, they're ... more

Advantages Advantages Graphics - Size - Content - Some parts of the combat

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything else

Since the announcement of Dead Island at E3 in 2006, many people have been anticipating a game that will utterly surpass all previous zombie related titles. This was to be expected, having waited 5 years for a release it was only natural to assume this was an achievable goal. Advantages Advantages Great graphics, wonderful landscape/island, bloody zombies

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes buggy gameplay, but this is fixed by patches.

Dead Island, the first - person zombie game. It is published by Deep Silver on the 9th of September 2011. When they published the trailer I fell in love with the idea. The trailer was absolutely brilliant and it did receive the deserved awards for that. But is the gameplay just as good? **Story** It is set on a tropical island, it used to be a paradise till the chaos starts. Zombies start to break out and only few people seem to be immune to the infection. In the beginning cinematic you clearly see how chaos suddenly breaks out, you see the cinematic through the eyes of a drunk guy. While you ... more

Advantages Advantages Satisfyingly horrific compact and a great cooperative experience

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly cringe inducing dialog

If you, like I did, watched the launch trailer for 'Dead Island' before playing the game you might be surprised to find that it's not entirely what you would expect. This is what makes reviews of games such as this so important. Back to the beginning though, in the truly heartfelt and disturbing trailer you would be forgiven for thinking that 'Dead Island' is a gritty horror title. In fact the premise is that you wake up after a heavy night's drinking on the intellect and fictional island of Banoi to find that Its inhabitants are all mindless bloodthirsty victims of infection (they're not ... more
