Wonderfully descriptive poems

Ciao managed to get the title wrong

As another reviewer has pointed out, the title of this anthology is 'Death of a Naturalist', and NOT 'Death of a Naturist'! Not so long ago I read a comment by someone who felt he could not benefit in any way from reading Nobel-Prize-winning Seamus Heaney's poetry because he had nothing in common...

“Beautiful”

Strong yet simple messages

May be hard to understand these messages fully for...

Beautiful poems, with both simple and complex meanings and I definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates poetry or literature. After studying Heaney's poetry for GCSE, and loving it, I personally went to Heaney's birthplace in Ireland, and now all his poems have an even more vivid meaning...

Knowledge about Heaney needed for full appreciatio...

Firstly, I think it's important to say that the anthology is called 'Death of a Naturalist' not 'Death of a Naturist'. Therefore, the poem of the same title is about nature, not nudism! Naturalists are people who are interested in nature; naturists are people who prefer not to wear any clothes...

“Trust me i got an A”

Very encapsulating

All about the outdoors

I studied Heaney at A Level and found his poems absolutley encapsulating. They are full of enigmatic thought and power, you can sense the reality of the situation and really believe every word. Each poem has its own unique style and format, and excites the senses. I got an A for my essay on...

Excellent

Very easy to read and get the feel of the poem,

Some images are rather weird

I studied this poem and some of his others for my English GCSE. At first when i heard we had to study poems I horrified but when i actually stopped and read i realised that they are much deeper than just words. This poem is very cleverly written and the words used create a great atmasphere of...

“cool book”

published 18/09/2000

good read

bit samey

When I studied this for GCSE I tjought it would be boring but surprisingly it wasn't!!! Heaney is a really good author that writes good poems with real meaning. My favourate Heaney poems are Digging, Mid term break and Follower. They all show Heaney's views on the land, stepping out and many...

Not for me

published 09/09/2007

the use of language and terribly mispelled words made it seem weak, it also lacked informitive facts, it also didnt really tell me much about the poem...
