I am a VIP

Advantages: good food, baby friendly
Disadvantages: not much seating space

...we decided to pop into Debenhams for a meal. You see some of us people that write on this site aren’t very well of (especially since the payments practically disappeared) and I in particular couldn’t really afford the luxury of somewhere like Pizza Hut. Off we trudged through the shop towards the lifts………with one Pushchair and one of us using crutches we had no option but to use the lift as the restaurant is on the ...
...they I can definitely recommend Debenhams restaurant to you. Just two footnotes. 1. I know that I’ve said practically nothing about the store itself…..but I felt the restaurant itself warranted an op 2. Offy how dare you go off home without reminding me to pay you for the Roll and Chocolate??? I realised just after you left………. ...

SHOP TO THE TOP

Advantages: GOOD QUALITY GOODS UNDER ONE ROOF, LOTS OF CHOICE
Disadvantages: NONE

Debenhams department store in oxford has recently undergone referbishment to the extreme. The old store had gone past its usefulness. The new replacement involved them using the shell of the building and working inside to create a new modern and stunning store. As you enter one of the doors along george street,in front you will find clean tiled marble effect floors, escalators and glass fronted lifts. All very clean with safety buttons if needed. ...
...for about 3pushchairs at same time. The store holds many items for you to purchase from and the staff are very helpful. On the first floor you will find many accessories. Hair bands, slides, wig piecesfollowed by cosmetics... all different brand names too many to relay all here. Alot of well known makes eg chanel and elizabeth arden. Many times on shopping here I have found that they do very nice gift sets and will offer make-overs and give you tips. ...

Baby Jack's Choice for Lunch

Advantages: Child friendly restaurant
Disadvantages: Scary lift to get up to the restaurant

...can?) so full marks to Debenhams here too. The only gripe i'd have with the particular branch we visited (Mansfield) was that to get to the restaurant you had to go out of the store and go up in the service lift, which was very scary - Jack screamed all the way up and Bev and I only managed not to because we were trying to be very grown up about the whole thing! It seems silly having such great facilities but having no way of getting to them. All ...

Disadvantages: sales are manic

I am a fan of Debenhams they are my only local department store that I have in the area and when i go in there i am almost always guaranteed that i will find the item that i need. Debenhams sells everything from ladies wear to mens wear, childrens wear, cosmetics, perfume, accessories, toys and homewear. You will always find what you are looking or in this department store. In the Ladies department you will find the clothing brands Jane Norman, ...
...furniture and dvd players. Debenhams also deal with gift cards, wedding lists and at the seasonal times of the year they have great gift sets too. The Christmas selection they have is great and normally has something to offer for everyone. This department store is great it has everything under one roof, i have never has a problem with any items i have purchased. I think when it comes to the fashion brands Red Herring is great it is reasonably ...

Designer bargains at half the price

Advantages: Central in most towns and cities
Disadvantages: Likelihood of turning up somewhere with someone else wearing your outfit is high!

Debenhams has a bad reputation. Until recently I've passed it by when i've been shopping and not given it a second glance. Basically my opinion of it comes from the deep-rooted, and oh so painful, memories of being dragged around it as a moaning child, and then as a moaning teenager. In the past I've always considered the clothes to be grannyish and the shop decor, seriously naff! But now the chain has undergone an amazing transformation with the ...
...I eventually remembered the Debenhams ranges and found myself with three different outfits to choose from. I chose a John Rocha top and skirt - £60 for the outfit. Both were amazingly cut and i looked and felt sexy and confident in what i was wearing. I unfortunately missed out on one of their regular blue-cross days - by 1 day - which would have saved me 20% off the total price of both of the selected items. Watch out for these evenings, it's well ...

Wedding gift service - the best

Advantages: good customer service
Disadvantages: Sale times

...good reasons why we chose Debenhams over other stores, such as Marks and Spencers, House of Fraser, Habitat etc. 1)Debenhams stores are all over the country - very useful if you have guests spread over the UK. 2)Debenhams have selections of all household items you will need when setting up home - bedding, kitchen, crockery, electrical, bathroom and special occassion, they also have concessions such as Edinburgh crystal, Dorma bedding and with designers ...
...3) Debenhams have large stores so you will always be able to find things you like. 4) The stores are mainly in town centres so access for all is good. 5)Debenhams offer a really good service to the bride and groom - they offer to give advise on things to put on your list, how many items to put on (dependant on how many guests), They give you a pack containing example orders of service, invitations, place settings etc. They also give you cards to ...

gotta get to debbs

Advantages: Everything you need
Disadvantages: a bit of an odd atmosphere

My mother has a Debenhams obsession. And I mean that literally, she is obsessed. She doesn't shop anywhere else. There are three reasons for this, which I hope will help explain Debenhams' appeal. 1.My mother is very lazy. Debenhams has just about all your shopping needs under one roof. She doesn't want to trail round different shops, and Debenhams means she doesn't have to. Everything is set out in departments, making it oh-so easy to find what ...

She doesn't even have to think about it. 3.My mother is very lazy. She is too lazy to remember birthdays and the like, and often has to rush to buy gifts ...

Stores within stores

Advantages: stress free shopping
Disadvantages: none that i can think of

Debenhams is a very good department store. I cant really fault it. Its an amazingly "stress free" way of shopping, with everything nicely laid out under one roof. How many times have you trudged from shop to shop amongst the crowds feeling yourself getting more and more stressed blisters starting to come, sweating hot, and just to land back at the first shop you visited to purchase that much wanted item! Its particulary good for me because im a ...
...I think Debenhams is good because it caters for all age groups under one roof which tends to help you perhaps make that trendy purchase that you wouldnt fancy buying surrounded by all those dolly birds in other high street shops. One of the best features of Debenhams are their Blue X days. You can get amazing real bargains. I went in there recently on Blue X day just to browse. My first grandchild is being born soon so naturally I was pulled to ...

One Stop Bargain Shop

Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion

I've shopped at Debenhams all my life. Growing up near Romford where the second largest store in the country is located (the largest being the West End store) it's always been somewhere I took for granted and shopped at. ~~~~ The Stores ~~~~ Debenhams stores stock a wide variety of goods, which I will condense into a single paragraph. On the ground floor you always find the cosmetics and perfume counters by the front door, free perfume samples on ...
...in under one roof and Debenhams own brand merchandise is always worth a look as there are a variety of special offers at any given time. You also find everything for your home in Debenhams, they have a great kitchenware section as well as china, crystal, bed linen, and bathroom accessories again from a variety of manufacturers. There are also departments for electrical goods, computers and games, books, and haberdashery. It's really a fantastic one-stop ...

...complete until we have visited Debenhams or Debs as we call it. Infact we call in that often now that the staff are on first name terms. As you walk in the lovely classical music is playing and reminds you that shopping can be a pleasant experience! I can spend at least an hour looking at the latest kitchen gadgets because they have that much choice. By now I'm ready for a drink so its up to the next floor for a adorable hot choc with sprinkles. If we're feeling peckish and time it right we can indulge in high tea: chips, egg, sausage, and beans. All for £1.69. The resteraunt is very nicely ...

Disadvantages: some find it pricy

...confession. I've been working in Debenhams in Manchester since moving to the city to start uni last September, so although I know what I'm talking about, it might come across in a slightly biased way. Debenhams really IS Britain's favourite department store, as any member of staff will tell you. It's a great place to shop because it has everything : although the individual branches may vary, the basic components of each store are as follows : there ...

Debenhams offers extras that other stores do not, such as a personal shopper service which is completely free and puts the customer under no obligation to buy, and a wedding gift service which lets you set a wedding list based on any items in the store and is constantly up dated so you don't get the same gift twice.. They have numerous concessions, as for example Lewises and Kendals do (or did in the case of Lewises on Market St ...

ARE YOU BEING SERVED

Advantages: Clean, well laid out, plenty to choose from
Disadvantages: Hot ... Not enough sales people

...in the Crown aptly described Debenhams Manchester store. Located in the heart of the City in Market Street almost next to the Arndale Centre, Debenhams has it all. Easily accessible by car, road, rail or even the tram cars which pass immediately by it, the store caters for almost all shoppers' needs. There are five floors which can all be easily reached by the main escalator. This may seem to be a silly thing to say, but to me it is important. There ...
...gripe I would have with Debenhams is that it is far too hot, in fact sometimes it is so hot that it becomes impossible to shop there. This is particularly a problem in the summer, when I've on occasions had to give up looking for a specific item because of the heat inside the store, so if anybody from Debenhams reads this.......please take note.....you are losing a lot of money by not remedying this situation. Before writing this, I spent some time ...

Debenhams wedding dresses are fab

Advantages: Very friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lack of changing rooms

...admit it! I am a Debenhams fan! Even before I went through the 'chore' of looking for a wedding dress, I would always be in Debenhams. My local store is right in the middle of the city centre, the prices are good, they always have enough items in stock and the sale proces are worth making an effort to get to! So, imagine my delight when I went in to look at their new range of designer wedding dresses. I had been trawling round quite a few well-known ...
...- if you open a Debenhams card when you buy it, you get 10% of the total price. This is well worth it when you're buying a one-off expensive item. So, all you brides-to-be out there, don't worry about the name of your wedding dress provider: if you want quality and good customer service at a great price, I would recommend Debenhams every time. ...

Britain’s most average department store

Advantages: Location, lots of selection
Disadvantages: The interior

What is it? Debenhams advertises itself as Britain’s favourite department store. I would describe it as Britain’s most average department store. I am speaking from my experiences at the Swindon store; the other ones I visit tend to be slightly better. Debenhams has it’s own range of products and high street concessions in it. There are 104 stores. The Store Location: This is probably the best thing about it. It has a town centre location, which ...
...too keen on both the Debenhams staff and the concession staff. I’ve mentioned the Dior assistant who seems more interested in applying more lip liner than helping any customers. She is quite rude whenever my friends or myself have spoken to her. By this I mean she either ignores you or patronises you. The Debenhams staff all wear ill-fitting purple polyester shirts and dark skirts or trousers. There is nothing really wrong with the service but some ...
