Debenhams Direct is a new, or perhaps, not that new now, service from Debenhams, the countries leading department store. (Their words not mine!) I received their Spring Summer 2004 catalogue within a week of ordering. It is not as massive and chunky as other mail order catalogues can be, with less than 550 pages of clothes for all the family, and items for the home. I was offered 10% off my first order and 250 Nectar points. (See later on in review!). ...
...In my opinion, the Debenhams catalogue would perhaps suit the 'professional woman', if that is the right phrase to use. I am disgusted at the service I have received. I placed an order, it arrived in part. Some of it was wrong, the rest was very poor quality. I then wanted to send everything back, but it took over a fortnight before Debenhams got their act together and collected my goods. For that collection I had to stay in all day Saturday and the parcels were finally collected at 4.00pm. I am a gold card customer and that used to mean something at Debenhams, but not with Debenhams Direct. I will never buy anything from Debenhams on line again. ...

...metal frame sofa bed from Debenhams Direct in July 2007. The sofa bed was supposed to be delivered in two weeks but after two weeks nothing had arrived and we phoned Debenhams. They said that the sofa bed was on it's way and would be delivered in the next few days. More time passed, no sofa bed. More excuses, more promises about it being delivered at specific dates. Bad experience with Debenhams store card. Whenever I bought something from Debenhams I am harassed to buy their famous store card and get a one week 10% discount on all purchases. Well, when I wanted to buy a sofa bed from Debenhams direct I thought now its worth it to get the card and use the 10% discount. I went to a customer service personnel in store and asked if the discount applies on my particular purchase, she said wait here a minute, left ...

...received 2 ladies jumpers from Debenhams and am pleased with both items. The website was easy to use, with all the clothes categerised; I was looking specifically for V necked jumpers, and got to them easily. The clothes came up as thumbnails which could be enlargened, and it was possible to search within the category by brand, size, colour and price range. I ordered on a Friday and they came on Tuesday so no complaints there. The goods came with a proper invoice, and a free paid returns label should I have wanted to reject the items.
