The Debenhams Card

Advantages: Discount and bonuses
Disadvantages: APR

...The application for a Debenhams card is pretty much the same as before, except now it is a dual application you are considered for a Debenhams store card and a Debenhams MasterCard (explained later on in DEBENHAMS MASTERCARD section). There is the written application, which I would not recommend doing as this takes alot of time and once you have filled in all the questions the member of staff has to relay all the information over the phone to someone ...
...roughly every 90 days in Debenhams then this could be useful, just make sure that you hang on to receipts or old statement as proof of purchase! Purchase protection; if you were to buy something breakable or an item of clothing and were to break it or stain the clothing then the item would be covered under your account cover and you can claim back another item, or the monetary equivalent. You can also be covered against the interest on your card ...

PAYING TOO MUCH

Advantages: Discounts, specials
Disadvantages: interest rate

I like Debenham’s, they sell just about everything you can possible want – and despite their prices being on the steep side I usually buy my kitchen stuff there and other bits and bobs that we find difficult to get anywhere else. So I guess it was natural when we were asked if we wanted a Debenham’s card by store staff – to answer “Yes”. A week or so later our card came along and we began to use it. We used our card and then the company behind ...
...and so they continued to do so until it reached its present limit of £8000 and was ‘promoted’ ‘gold status’. (Now that’s a lot of credit!) So how does the card work? It works like a ‘normal’ credit card but just in Debenham’s you pick your goods; you hand over your card and sign the piece of paper that is given you to place your signature on. At first I thought it was because I was getting famous that all the staff in Debenham’s wanted my autograph, ...

...unique purpose. The Debenhams account card is for sole use in Debenhams, you can however use it online at www.debenhams.com and the Debenhams direct catalogue. You must sign it on the reverse immediately as you will be assigned a credit limit and as with any credit card it could be subject to fraudulent transactions. It doesn’t appear to have an expiry date so unless you loose your card or it stops working you probably won’t be sent another ...

Advantages: Discout weeks, sale preview evenings, 10% off for the first week

...never have had a typical Debenhams store card as such (I had the staff discount credit card) I feel I am qualified to write this opinion due to the fact that I spent two years working for Debenhams, almost exclusively in the Customer Accounts Department. The Basics --------------- There are two types of store card available, the standard blue card, and the more beneficial gold card. You cannot apply for a gold card though – basically you have ...

Debenhams do da dirty

Advantages: Rewards, Special member nights, pre-sale information, money off vouchers
Disadvantages: HIgh interest on cash and purchases, High fees if anything goes wrong

I went into Debenhams in Wigan in the North West and was about to spend around £100 pounds on clothes and various other things. Anyway I had remembered watching a programme on store cards. They said that they are excellent to have so long as you don't misuse them. They also said that you received 10% off on purchases when you open an account. I looked around the store and found a little card explaining a little about the card. I noticed that you ...
...transactions I had in any Debenhams during that week. The woman did all the relevant stuff over the phone, and said that I could have one with a £250 limit. I do not really earn much or but make a high number of purchases regularly, so this was enough for me. Obviously the more you earn the more you can have. The lady gave me a temporary paper card that could be used until I received the proper plastic one, similar to a credit card. The current ...

Debenhams Card - Current Member Of Staff

Disadvantages: High APR - and pressure on staff to open accounts

...that i currently work in Debenhams and therefore i know more about the advantages/disadvantages of having a debenhams card than some people who have written their reviews on the site so far. Also there have been a few changes particularly to the "account cover" side of things over the past few months so it is also worth considering those. Opening your account It is extremely easy to open your Debenhams account, in fact every member of staff who ...

Handy Little Card

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

I have had a Debenhams store card for many years now, as you or may not read my Debenhams review, I can spend an awful lot of time in there and an awful lot of money. Debenhams store cards are issued by GE Money, one of the main companies that department stores, such as Debenhams go through when arranging a store card. Its an ideal piece of plastic if you shop a lot in Debenhams and works like any other store card. When you first take out the card ...

Do you really need this card

Advantages: Great place to shop, good bonuses
Disadvantages: APR%

...bought an expensive coat from debenhams so I signed up for the card and got a 10% discount worth £15. I'm your typical male I don't exactly live to shop for clothes. However the main advantage of the card is you get occaisional mail that allows you to get what are really quite good offers. e.g. 10% weeks, mega day events, sales and of course nectar points. I've used the card for 2/3 years now and the disicpline you need to make it work for you, ...

I missed the payment on a total bill of C.£25. A company called G.E. capital ...

Debenhams Store Card Pros + Cons card?

Advantages: Discounts
Disadvantages: High APR

I first became aware of this account card when my mum first applied for one many years ago. This account card has a first downer of being a very high APR of which in my mind has a big red cross over it, but the benifits of the card if used to its full potentional can out weigh and avoid the bad. As many credit cards and store cards have, this card has an intrest free period of purchases of up to 56 days of the purchase providing the balance was ...
...There are 2 different types of account cards the blue and the gold. You can only apply for the blue card, where the gold has to be "earned". The blue card offers discounts on event days and when used with a nectar card, also gains extra nectar points per every £2 spent. The gold card on the other hand has much more value in terms of what you get for nuthing, but to get there can be costly. To gain the gold card, you need to spend a certain amount ...

Why bother

Advantages: 10 percent off on many occasions throughout the year
Disadvantages: You may well be bankrupted

...always a sale on at Debenhams anyway). Sounds good? Well, these are the bonuses, but how about the limitations? As with other credit cards, there is no annual charge, and the minimum payment I believe is 5% or £5. But with Debenhmans you have 30% interest to pay on any outstanding balances. Say you cannot afford to clear the balance one month, any savings you have made previously are wiped out straight away! So why bother? I would say stick to ...

...to spread purchases on the debenhams direct catalogue as well. After you spend £500 in a year you are invited to gold cards, with more benefits, such as 20% off in the in store cafes and free gift bags and the use of storage lockers. There are also exclusive offers, including 15% off at Centerparcs. However, read the small print - the interest rate is 29.9 APR (variable) and there's a charge of £18.00 for late payments. ...expensive. I have had my card now for a couple of years. It is handy, but unless you pay off the total balance, it's a costly way to buy things from the store. I would recommend using it only if you can pay off the balance, and for the exclusive cardholders’ events, although, I’m not sure how ‘exclusive’ they are with so many people having the accounts! I also get lots of 'offers' where if I put so much money on my card I ...

Golden Goods

Advantages: Upmarket shopping experience
Disadvantages: Store cards are expensive

I have had Debenhams Gold card for as long as I can remember. It must be 15 years. I have seen just about every aspect to this card that there is over this time. The main reason I keep this card is because the shop I visit has an outstanding range of goods and you can get just about anythingy ou want in one shop. Debenhams sells a number of brand names along side each other so in actual fact you are visiting a dozen cloths shops at once when you ...
...and Thomas Nash are two that spring to mind. You can also shop on the website and get stuff delivered though the post depending on availability. It is well worth checking out. The card I have also has a cash withdrawl facility which I have not used for years as it is now expensive. Interest is about 2.5% per month ++ you must also pay a minimum amount of the balance. Card holders are regularly invited to shopping evenings where large discounts ...
