Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by damionh

Advantages: Large Screen, Fast Processor, easy to use interface and more !
Disadvantages: Battery life not as advertised but still beefy enough

Dell Axim X51v 624mhz The Dell X51v comes in different forms, this review is based on the X51v model with the 624mhz processor, I have had my PDA now for little over a month, its primary use is as a GPS Satellite Navigation device when it is coupled with my GPS device by Bluetooth. My original idea was to buy a Sat Nav system, however after looking at the ever falling prices and raising specifications of PDA's I decided to go down this route. Whilst ... Read review

Good All Round Pocket Performer
Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by rktekt

Advantages: Build Quality; Speed, Battery Life
Disadvantages: Cost of Additions, Accessories, Charging from USB

I purchased the Dell Axim primarily to use on the factory floor for access to EMails, Statistical Data from Excel, and the usual Calendar and Contact applications. It does all I expected of it without fuss. It is very quick loading programs and files, the Windows interface is relatively easy to use, although getting my head around the various internet and wireless settings took some time - however that is a feature of the operating system, not the ... Quick review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz
Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by cricket6186

I bought this about a year ago. At first I really enjoyed it because the screen was very easy to use and to me that was important. What I found a bit annoying was the fact that when using the tiny pencil to type information into the address book it would constantly scroll or pop you somewhere else. That was frustrating. Synchronizing your Outlook with it was easy and nice. But I would also agree about the battery life which was terrible for the amount of money you pay. Within 8 months the screen scrambled up and never worked again. I feel this product was shiny and pretty but had no real depth for the price.

Very powerful Pocket PC
Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by brianbadger

Advantages: Looks great, big bright screen, WiFi connectivity
Disadvantages: Expensive accessories, needs ROM upgrade for CF cards

I bought the Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz to replace my ageing Palm Tungsten. Its the first time I've used Pocket PC and it makes things a lot easier when synching with my desktop PC. The screen is big and bright, with a good resolution. The built-in speaker is adequate for the job and through earphones the sound quality is very good. I use it with a bluetooth keyboard, which was a bit fiddly to set up at first but works very well. I have no problem connecting ... Read review

Excellent PDA wth great all round performance
Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by nigel_r_smith

Advantages: Size, Performance
Disadvantages: Cost

I have had my PDA for around 4 months now, it performs very well, and battery life is very good. It has a robust build (although I wouldn't recommend bouncing it on floors), it is very well constructed, and all parts of the casing fit well together. The stylus is held very well and is unlikely to get lost. The buttons fall easily to hand and are comfortable when in use. The screen is excellent with very high resolution and great picture and colour ... Read review

Dell Axim X51v - An extremely competent machine
Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by Babrevian

Advantages: Fast, big and bright screen, battery life good enough for daily use, build quality
Disadvantages: Spartan extras, expensive to add addisional hardware

I bought my Dell X51v last month after using a HP Jornada 710 for 6 years. The Dell is an extremely competent machine. It has one of the largest displays in the business and it is bright and clear. I am happy with the battery life... lasting a week with intermittent use, but I suspect that power users will probably opt for a second battery, since I suspect you could get between 6-8 hours continuous use. The docking station does have an extra charging ... Read review

Feature rich, but at what cost?
Review of Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz by Jakg

Advantages: Lots of features, fast, top of the line PDA.
Disadvantages: Price, Battery.

The Dell Axim X51v is Dells fastest, best and last PDA, running the latest (at the time, now superceeded) Windows Mobile 55, running the fastest Intel XScale Pocket CPU, running at 624 MHz, this is a powerhouse. It has 128 MB of onboard ROM for saving files onto, and has 64 MB of RAM. These specs probably don't mean much, so i'll explan The CPU Is VERY fast, fast enough so that when combined with the onboard GFX card it can play 3D Games very ... Read review
