Dell Inspiron 1150 2.6Ghz

The Dell Inspiron 1150 is a laptop I used until it died. Unfortunately it did die and it was fraught with various issues and problems. I opted for the smaller 14" screen and never had any problems with the screen itself. There were problems with the hinges, they broke and eventually came through the plastic leaving one side held on by a hinge, the other hanging by a thread. This review is mainly for people who are hoping to buy a new laptop and more specifically this one. However, please feel free to read this if you are considering changing your current laptop. If you are looking to use a laptop for home entertainment or a lot of video and photo editing, I would recommend buying a laptop with more memory, processor speed and hard drive space and one built up to the job. However, if you intend to use a laptop for small scale photo editing and word processing this could be the thing for you. I bought this laptop in 2004 for around £600. i have to say at the time it came with what i thought were a lot of good features, including a wireless internet card, room for up to 2gb of ram, and a durable and fast Celeron processor, but over time it has showed itself up on various occasions. i have to replace the power cord TWICE and the power jack once due to them both being very unreliable and fragile. these were quite costly to fix. £80 for the power jack repair and £30 for the power cables. secondly i have noticed that it overheats very quickly especially when used on your lap. it gets ... more

If you want a portable but dont want to pay over the top then dell are the only manufactures you can trust , this little baby came with wide screen wifi large drive dvd cd/rw 512mhz I got all of above including P&P for £410. now thats very good. If you get cheaper anywhere it wont be reliable ! You may get a little cheaper by knocking of the ram but XP wont run smoothly without at least 512mhz of ram , Some people on here have knocked dells support , but I've used them to buy all my systems for the last 5 yrs and havent had any problems with them , although its easier to email them and just ... more

this is the laptop im writing this report on. ive had this computer since last christmas and there has been no probles so far. this could be used as a family computer or for bussness what it came in the laptop came in an extrimly small box onluy a bit bigger than the laptop its self. it came withe a proper canves case lots of software, 2 batteries and a transformer. looks to be honst dell has done a brillent job desighing this lap top with all the smoth curves and the stalish crome on top perfomence the laptop has more than enough memery at 24gb which i dont think i will ever fill. the speed ... more
