Dell Inspirons are very reliable machines! Whenever I have been asked which machine I wish to upgrade to I always request the latest Inspiron. I spend a lot of time travelling and work from home as well as the office- the Inspiron has proven to be robust and reliable. ...protaction software that comes with Dell is not compatible with this laptop. After day two of purchasing the product it didn't work. Windows side bar either takes20minuites to load, or encounters a problem and has to stop running completely. This then slows the other applications down as its busy loading side bar. Well my first laptop ever bought. Well having 512 MB of RAM, and 1.6 or around dual core of Gigahz are enought to perform most computer operation on Windows XP, but not suggestable for Windows Vista try looking for upragde in RAM. When looking for my first laptop I was searching for an efficient and powerful computer. I believe the Inspiron 1520 fits that mould. The Laptop is fairly heavy but with its generously proportioned 15.4 inch screen that is to be expected. The specification is more than ample. Where to start. This was my first laptop and was a very good laptop for the first year. However after the first year the keys started to come loose and there were a few problems with the screen. The laptop was decent at playing games (for example, Call of Duty 4 a modern game) was able to run at a very good frame rate with about half of the effects on. It was also able to display HD Videos. The only real problem with the hardware was that the only graphics card you could get was integrated. However all in all it was a good laptop perfect for beginners.

...deliberation decided to buy the dell for its overall performance. Unlike some laptops which at first look seemed better value this dell seems to have quality parts accross the board. ...as a replacement laptop after dell were unable to fix my 5150. at first it semed very complicated to use. But as time has come on i have work out how every thing works and i am very happy with it. it is alot faster than my last laptop. it takes a bit of getting used to as it runs on the new operating system (windows vista) but dont give up on it. No problems at all with this notebook! Bought through Aol/Carphone Warehouse current laptop deal. I went for the core 2 duo processor (option 3). The free wireless router you get from Aol is rubbish. I ended up buying a netgear rangemaster next (very good indeed). The good news is the wireless card in the laptop works perfectly with the new router, so no need to upgrade it. So far so good. I love my laptop! Its easy to use, fast and it looks good. A good first laptop. Great value for money. I would definately recommend it.

Advantages: Build Quality, Connection, Graphics, Keyboard, Webcam and Mic, Ease of Use, Speed, Quiet Running.
Disadvantages: No graphics drivers for 64 bit operating system. No big deal. Hopefully soon they will have them

I just love my Dell Inspiron 1520. Even after a year and a half of having this sweet, fast, hardworking beauty of a beast, it still outranks the competition in my book. Dell did it right with this laptop. The graphics is awesome (GeForce 8600M), the computer fans run very silent (can barely hear them), and the connection is out of this world.
