~~*~~*~~ Dell Inspiron 1525 ~~*~~*~~
Whilst the demise of any electrical object is always a sad occasion - I felt my laptop was a personal friend and thus when it developed serious motherboard malfunction, I decided that I would purchase a new friend for the old laptop (rather like obtaining a new puppy when old yellow's on his way out) and transfer the information before it was lost in the electrical ether.
The search for my new best friend ...

...know, an unusual thing with Dell is that they only sell laptops online, and all products can be fully customised to meet your specifications. For around £329 you can buy the base level specifications of an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T1400(1.73Ghz), 2Gb RAM and a 120Gb hardrive. More than sufficient for an entry level laptop. However these specifications can be customised up to a 2Ghz processor, 4GB RAM and a massive 250Gb hardrive. This would ...

...compared to previous computers. The Dell website is always stocked up with new drivers should any bugs have been found, and friends that have had to send things back after a year or two have found the support team very helpful. An essential thing to buy is the extended warranty; it will ensure the computer lasts you a long time.
Another thing I bought was the Dell Remote - this is available when you are customising what you want. This is really great, ...

Advantages: Scroll-wheel touchad, wide screen, LOADS of memory Disadvantages: Overheating is a problem
I got hold of this laptop last year, after my boyfriend spilt coke over his previous laptop and then claimed on his insurance for a new one. The company sent him a certain amount of Curry's/Comet vouchers so he could select his own, and we picked this one.
I'm not a computer expert, and he knows a lot more than me and I know he would've have pick one with rubbish specifications. It had lots of internal memory, which is what I think initially attracted ...

...fairly quickly settled on the Dell Inspiron 1525.
The machine had a good balance of processing power, dual-core processor for speed, well-sized screen and relative simplicity. Bearing in mind that my laptop use is pretty limited - basic internet use, the odd online game here and there, basic Word and Excel documents, etc, the Inspiron ticked every box.
The installation process was very straightforward - even for someone like me - and I was up ...

Advantages: thin, light weighed, good battery life, nice keyboard touchpad, solid performance and featurs, fast speed Disadvantages: No dedicated Graphics option, a bit noisy
Dell Inspiron 1525 is a very good choice for the price asked for around $850.
Design and looks: Dell introduced Dell Inspiron 1520 which was a similar to Inspiron 1525, but was bulky, heavy and unattractive laptop. But Dell inspiron 1525 is smaller, slimmer (height 1 - 1.48)and almost half a pound lighter than 1520 (weight 5.9 lbs). There are 4 more cover designs available for 1525 in addition to 8 color options in other dell laptops.

2) Another great aspect of the laptop is the HDMI port that is avaliable, allowing connection to a HD TV (cable not supplied) ideal for viewing online content, or pc gaming.
3) The battery life on the Dell inspiron ...

...before giving up. I think Dell needs to realise that their bluray installation is very difficult and could be made a lot easier. Before reformatting, did you know that you have to put aside about 24GB in its own partition/'fake' hard drive in which you install MediaDirect into? I didn't know this the first 5 times I reformatted! The lack of information played its part in my disappointment with the bluray function.
But on the other hand, the few ...
