I wanted a new laptop. My desktop PC was great, but we decided to change the 3rd bedroom back to a bedroom and so the desktop had to go. The problem was that my desktop PC was a high spec PC and I thought I'd have to spend a hell of a lot to even come close to it's spec in a laptop. Luckily I was wrong. Dell just happened to have some decent offers on at the time I was looking for a laptop. Their website has offers on all the time, but some months are a lot better than others and this just happened to be one of those months. We use Dell laptops at work and as the head of IT services it's ... more

I'm a keen enthusiastic of DELL laptops, although you always get the majority who always criticise DELL. Clearly, they are either computer illiterate or haven't a clue what DELL actually do. The DELL Inspiron is a fantastic laptop, they always manufacture laptop specifications to you're needs, and are for value for money. Every DELL computer I've had, I've always had a great experience and never no technical issues. I purchased the DELL Inspiron 6400 a few months back, after my previous laptop lacked specification and had all the upgrades possible. I therefore decided to invest in the DELL ... more

I have to start by saying that I am not well into the world of computers but I will describe my experiences of this model of notebook as I found them. First of all, I am impressed with the widescreen and the screen display type. It is an excellent notebook when it comes to playing DVD's. The picture and sound are of high quality. I would rate sound quality 4/5 as it is the best I have experienced with a notebook however I do feel it could be improved. I am also impressed with the speed of power-up on the notebook which is usually approximately 15seconds (i.e from pressing the power button ... more

Right I can tell this is going to take me a while as there is so much to tell you about this laptop. I will start by telling you my own personal uses and experiences of this laptop. I bought this laptop over a year ago now after realising that my previous computer was now very outdated when it wouldn't even run the Windows 2000 operating system (let alone XP). I spent about 3 months going around shops and browsing the net for the best models of laptop and I stumbled upon the dell website. This was easily the best of all the laptop manufacturers' websites as it was so easy to use. It provided ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent trackpad and screen.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little heavy.

Spec: Intel Core Duo T7200, 2 Gb 533Mhz Ram, 120 Gb HDD (5400rpm), ATI 256 Mb X1400 Graphics card. I bought the Dell Inspiron 6400[E1505 laptop, as a replacement for my two year old one. I had not used a 15.4'' screen before and wasn't really looking forward to it. As 15'' screens were hard to find, I plumped for the 15.4'' as I still wish to retain portability and be able to actually work with the machine, on my lap. My first impression of the Dell, once running, was the bright screen, with a fantastic viewing angle. My old machine required a direct sitting position, or there was a marked ... more

if the idea of somthing ultra portable with a fantastic 5 hours battery life whilst watching videos and an amazing 7 hours of possible battery life makes your ears prick up, then this laptop may be the one for you. this is possibly one of the best looking laptops ive seen, its sleek, its cool and you just wouldnt be embarresed gettin this piece of equiptment out to show the public at a coffee bar or airport. the 15.4 tft screen is a quite compact screen for a quite compact laptop, but still movies look large on this great active matrix screen. one of the greatest things about this is its so ... more

I bought this latop around march 2007 and I am still using it now, I am at colleage and I use this laptop heavily on a daily basis. The programs I am usually running on it are; Paintshop, iTunes, Windows Media Center, Windows Live Messenger, and Also I play games at high spec on it. The Laptop copes very well with the programs I run, and so far I have had no problems with it (touch wood!). The Laptop includes windows vista home premium, Vista is much better and easier to use than xp, although the vista operating system takes up more ram memory, therefor you will not to be able to run some ... more

I recently purchased the Inspiron 6400 and am currently using it. I have found that the laptop is very quiet, its not very heavy, it looks nice and one of the most important factors, the keypad, is easy to use. not like some, where you find it harder to adapt, because the letters, are in ever so slightly different places. just a fraction out, great experience so far. With a silver body and white trim the Insiron 6400 has to be one of the more stylish laptops on the market at the moment, so for those of you who aren't just looking for a laptop that performs well, i would advise looking at this ... more

YeS yEs finally after many days.. oh not days, months of research i finally decided to buy a dell Inspiron 6400. I previously tried Acer laptop and a dell 6000 laptop. I was first planning to buy Pacerd Bell which of the same specs was quite cheaper but DELL, the name is famous and a reliable brand according to me so I decided to go for Dell despite of paying a lot more. I was really looking forward for this laptop as this was dell and you can easily configure it according to your needs. I made my laptop with INTER CORE 2 due processor and DELL TRUE LIFE which I think is really worth it. I ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit Bulky, amount of junk you have to uninstall when you first get it

I got my Inspiron 6400 laptop about 5 months ago, I brought it as I was tired of sitting at my desk working (when working at home). I've always trusted dell and recommend them to people that want to buy a computer. I toddled off to dell.co.uk and browsed through the site. I wanted something that was a bit beefy, but didn't cost the earth and at the end of it I settled for the Inspiron 6400 that dell had a special offer on. I went through the customising part of the order process (and is it just me or do they never come out the same price as they advertise?) I ordered, paid (god bless my ... more
