Advantages Advantages Stylish design, packed with loads of features, completely configurable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Loads of pre-loaded software, pay for extended service and support

In my last 10 years as an IT professional, I have had my hands on loads of different types of laptops and pcs. I therefore put together those experience in evaluating this mobile personal computer. Why Dell? Dell is a reputed company, been around for quite a while now. Their products are reliable and comes complete with all pre-configuration and easy to use. They sell only through their website and the laptop you wish to buy is completely configurable and tailor made just for you. Why Laptop? I assume you are reading this review, because you are planning to buy a laptop. So just a few points ... more

    Advantages Advantages Super powerful!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Super heavy!

It's not light, it's not cheap and it doesn't have a good battery life. If you want those things, go else where. However, if you want a mobile computer that can play the latest games and processor as fast as top of the range desktops, this is your machine. As rapstars say, let's break'it down now. o- The latest mobile graphics card, the Radeon 9700 provides cutting edge performance with dual monitor and TV-out support. Simply meaning better looking games, and on two screens. o- 3.2Ghz Pentium 4. Possibly overkill, this processor will compress or uncompress files in seconds. This is what you ... more

Advantages Advantages Super Fast, Good looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy, Overseas Call centre

A brand new, off the shelf Dell Inspirion 9100 will set you back just under £1000, for a standard model, although thanks to Dell's excellent ordering availability on their website, you can customise the machine with just about whatever you want. The standard machine though comes with a Pentium 4 processor, Windows XP, 15" screen, 800Mhz, 512MB of memory 80GB hard drive, internal modem and wireless network capability. You can upgrade memory to 2048MB for an extra £740, the hard drive to 100GB for an extra £110, ad an extra 40GB hard drive for £95. In fact, if you add all of the extra's possible ... more

    Advantages Advantages Powerfull, solid build

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very heavy and BIG! expensive

I'm a novice in the computer world, I bought a Dell Inspiron 9100 for work purposes last year; The primary function of my laptop is to write word documents and deal with some media files so why did I choose this huge, powerful piece of technology? Well, I wanted the biggest and the best! And at the time this was at the very top end of the market. With little or no knowledge, I dived into the laptop world, learning a lot as I went along. Knowing that computers develop rapidly every year, I wanted to buy a laptop that would still be 'in date' in five years time. I'd spent years on previous ... more

Advantages Advantages Power on the go!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of battery life

-MY NEW COMPUTER- As a student I need to use my computer on the move, in lectures and for watching DVDs (for educational purposes obviously!) The Dell Inspiron weighs in at 9.2lbs which is quiet heavy for a laptop. However for what it provides me it is well worth that little extra weight. So what did this laptop offer to me? Its 60Gb hard drive is plenty for me to store that work I do and to save all of pictures from my digital camera. It's 3.2 Ghz pentium 4 Processor and 512Mb of ram allow me to play all of my favourite computer games! Which is very important for me! Also for an extra ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Speed on the web and wireless comes in useful.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite heavy for when traveling long distances with it.

This a good system with good processor speed of 2.13Ghz and intel centrino mobile technology which is very helpful it has 6 USB ports a network port. There is a TV link up port for connecting to your tv and playing Videos on your laptop. I would recomend this laptop for small and lage buisnesses and also for home use. Like with all laptops you may feel more comfortable plugging your own mouse in instead of using the touch pad mouse. Playing Games on the system is realativly good because of the processor speed and the graphics and sound cards. There are 3.2 hours of battery life and it has a ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast to begin with

Disadvantages Disadvantages this dell laptop is very heavy and is really a poor desktop replacement

from persional experence this computer goes wrong with in about 7-8 months this laptop taking speed to the extream also takes the battery life to the minimum it is not the best machine that dell have made. but apart from being nice looking, it is about 13lb. the graphics card that it is installed with at the bottem of the range is very fast as it is powering a 17" wide screan display as well as being the fastest machine for playing games but unfortuanly these advantages are short lived as it goes wrong. in my experence, the motherboard when wrong five times and as a result rendered the PC ... more
