What can you say about a kettle, well not much really, does it boil water, yes, ok great, it's done its job but in conjuction with my review on my fabulous Delonghi toaster I didn't want to leave the kettle out and thought I would write a little about that too. As reviewed with the toaster, my husband and I picked the Delonghi kettle purely for its sleek and sexy design. The kettle comes in a lovely gun metal grey colour and is metal not like theses regular plastic types kettles you can pick up for a fiver in most shops. Ok, so it is a bit more expensive, you can buy it for about £20 in most ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks good, boils well, good handle and spout

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lid, and the price

DeLonghi is a brand name that is often associated with quality build, design and looks. This kettle certainly has the looks, but how do the design and quality hold up? The main function of a kettle, of course, is to boil water. As long as it does this, then it's boxes ticked, really. This kettle does this job very well, and it doesn't take too long to do it either. Nicely done. It also does it whilst looking good. The sleek design and metal grey colour give it an almost bullet like feel to it, and with a chrome (I believe) handle that is very comfortable in the hand, it has the looks and ... more

Advantages Advantages Keeps the water hot for a long time

Disadvantages Disadvantages Handle fell off - maunfacturer's flaw or a design flaw? Not sure

My dad bought this kettle as a replacement to our Tefal One Cup. The first noticeable improvement with this kettle is that it does a very good job of boiling the water and keeping it hot. You could probably still make a good cuppa some 10 minutes after its boiled. Couple of significant problems we've had with it is the limescale. Yes, admittedly, we live in a hard water area, but it's more a problem with the filter. The limescale we get, and the amount of it, is terrible, but it's actually come over the top of the filter and into our drinks so we regularly have to completely empty the kettle ... more

    Advantages Advantages Looks cool

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive, awkward to fill, very heavy when full

I got this kettle the same time as the matching toaster (see separate review). They look very good in their matt gun metal finish which supposedly doesn’t show finger marks. It has a : • 3 kW element for a fast boil with a 1.7 litre capacity and water gauge. • Easy pour spout. • A removable, washable lime scale filter. • Safety cut out and automatic switch off with an illuminated power indicator so you can see if its on • A convenient 360 degree base with cord storage. • Non slip feet. • It also has a very handy simmer facility which keeps the water hot What I didn’t like when I got it home ... more

    Advantages Advantages Always looks clean

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No real disadvantages

I bought the delonghi meteoplis because as I wanted an aesthetically pleasing kettle that would fit in with other chrome kitchen appliances in my kichen. The thing that drew me to this kettle was that it was a dulled chrome, I had previously had a chrome kettle that looked wonderfully stylish when I first bought it and after a month it looked awful. It looked awful from finger prints and marks and not matter how often I clean it it always looked smeared. So I bought the delonghi metropolis and I was disappointed. The kettle has that same performance as most other kettles but doesn't suffer ... more

    Advantages Advantages Attractive, modern design

Disadvantages Disadvantages no lifespan, poorly made

I have owned one of these kettles for close to two years now. In paid over £50 pounds for it, and I admit it was bought as it ' went' with everything else in my new kitchen. The kettle itself is lovely to look at, curvy, modern, and comfortable to grip and pour. A well-known reputable brand. I don't use the kettle an awful lot, its used when my parents come for the odd cup of tea, or it was used for boiling water for milk when our daughter was a young baby. No-one in our house drinks tea or coffee so I've never used it for anything else other than the baby and visitors. It goes to say it was ... more

    Advantages Advantages Looks fabulous.

Disadvantages Disadvantages small lid to remove in order to fill with water.

Ours has just broken - after several years. A Tesco £4.78 plastic kettle boils water just the same BUT the de Longhi looks so good AND matches the great toaster so we will be getting another one. The lid broke on ours too, but the replacement lasted. Read a lot of bad reviews about this kettle, but we love it. Perfomance is excellent - very fast indeed. Noisy, but thats just water boiling quickly. Easy to use, but heavier than a plastic jug. Apart from the first lid, it has lasted well. Safety not an issue. I dismantled mine in an attempt to repair it. No repair but I could admire the way it ... more

    Advantages Advantages easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

This kettle is funky looking but practical. The handle is easy to hold when pouring and it is good value for money and economical to use.It has all the features that you could wish for in a kettle and at the same time looks great and modern for a kitchen.Alsoit is very easy to clean because of the shape. It is cordless so the kettle can be lifted up from the base and taken to where you wanted to pour hot water into for example cups. You can look at a glance to see if it has turned off as it has an automatic button to switch off. The kettle has a capacity of 1.7 litres. It has an anticaic filter ... more
