    Advantages Advantages It works!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price, those bits in the sink.

Mouthwash is mouthwash isn't it? Well that's what I thought until the dreaded hygienist got hold of me, with two 25 minutes appointments in the space of a fortnight this woman poked and prodded, scrapped and chiselled my teeth into a state where they practically gleamed. The thought of having to go throw another session with the woman who makes the Dentist in Marathon Man appear misunderstood I went in search of a mouthwash to add to my oral hygiene routine. Dentyl ph caught my eye mainly due to the fact the bottle contained a muted pink/reddish liquid topped by a rather fetching blue. It was ... more

Advantages Advantages Freshens breath, nice taste, gets rid of "bits"

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly more expensive than the competition

It’s been said I am something of an advertisers dream, there only has to be a new item for consumption with a slight gimmick attached or some originality about it and that product will inevitably end up in my shopping trolley. Imagine my joy then, when I noticed Dentyl PH Mouthwash on special offer on a recent trip to ASDA. Here was a product that used a subtle blend of witchcraft and wizardry to deliver a bottle of mouthwash, somehow divided into two separate coloured potions, one floating atop the other! As someone who has worked in bars in the past, and tried to mix many a cocktail, I can ... more

Advantages Advantages Taste is okay & not too strong

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The price !!

I've used various mouthwashes sporadically over the past 4 or 5 years, usually just before a social evening out or before a job interview. Lord knows why - it makes the best beer in the world (see my Grolsch review) taste awful and the clinical smell can stun an interviewer before you get into the room (er, thank you Mr B. we'll be in touch, shut the door on your way out). So when I saw Dentyl pH "visibly active mouthwash" being promoted in my local Boots shop I didn't pay much attention. However, a few hours later, on the same day, I came across another section of shelves in Tesco advertising ... more

Advantages Advantages Pleasant taste and appearance, really works

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Ick! And expense!

I read Soho Black's op on Dentyl and mentally filed it away under the 'this could be useful' section. So when I was in Superdrug last week and noticed sample sized versions of this rather unique mouthrinse (not mouthwash) I decided to give it a try. Buying it: A bottle of Dentyl pH is pretty unmissable on the chemist's shelf, it is roughly triangular with rounded edges and a tall white cap. It comes in two flavours - clove and mint (more on that later) which are a quite unique two tone effect. The mint is a kind of lime green colour with an oily aquamarine layer sat on top whilst the clove is ... more

Let’s get this straight from the get-go – I don’t stink, OK? But I started a new job where I have to work quite closely with “Jo Public” and I wanted to be confident I was minty fresh. I have to tell you that most of “Jo Public” aren’t! Also, I’m kind of hoping I will be doing an awful lot of kissing in the not too distant future, and I want to be prepared ;@) I have also given up smoking, and I read somewhere that the number of bacteria in your mouth multiplies hugely after quitting the weed, because the nasty nicotine isn’t killing ... more

Advantages Advantages Works, fun to use, tastes okay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, not perfect results

I realised recently that I haven't been to the dentist in ... erm … quite a while (probably getting on for 2 years, whoops!) and that in that time my dental hygiene had slipped, so perhaps I should get it back into shape just in case I have the desire to visit the dentist in the near future! According to the dentist, I've never been good at brushing, and no matter how hard I try, I always miss bits! So I thought mouthwash might be the answer. Off I trotted to Wilkinson and bought my first ever bottle of mouthwash. Taken in by the added play factor of 'shake to activate' Dentyl pH Smooth Mint ... more

Right, put your tongue out. Come on, right out as far as it will go. Now run the inside of your wrist along the full length of your protruding tongue. Go on do it - don't argue! Okay, let your wrist dry. It'll only take a few seconds unless you are excessively dribbly. As soon as the moisture has disappeared take a sniff of your wrist. Does it smell of any odour? Be honest. If it does you probably have ponky breath. Or perhaps you have gums that bleed when you brush your teeth, or a dry mouth, or even a lingering metallic taste. If you have then you may also have bad breath. Statistics show ... more

    Advantages Advantages No stinging sensation

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I have always been put of my mouth washes purely by the fact that even the mild ones really sting. So when I came across Dentyl ph I thought I would try it as it claims it does not sting. ~How to use~ Shake the bottle very well until the two colours merge into one, then half fill the cap onto of the bottle and then rinse your mouth thoroughly for about 30 seconds and then if required gargle for the same amount of time as well. Then disregard into the sink. Do not swallow. ~What does it taste like~ Well at the moment I am using the Refreshing Clove flavour and it is very refreshing as for the ... more

Advantages Advantages Pretty Colours, No alcohol = no stinging

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Aftertaste!!!

I've seen Dentyl advertised on the tv - the woman who rinses with mouthwash, and then peers all enthusiastically to see all the gunk from her teeth in the sink. I have no idea what it was in me that did it, but I wanted to see my bits (teeth gunk)!!!!! So, I toddled off to Tesco for my Dentyl. At £3.80 odd compared to your regular Listerine at about £2.60, or even value mouthwash at 59p, I already suspected I was being ripped off, but I went for it anyway! You have two pretty colours to choose from (some of you might prefer to pick by flavour though)... There is the exceptionally pretty ... more

Advantages Advantages Visible removal of plaque and debris

Disadvantages Disadvantages The mint flavoured Dentyl pH is too strong!

I’ve never really been a great fan of mouthwash – always thought it was just another example of large companies playing upon the insecurities of an individual in order to make a fast buck. You know the score, use this this product or you’ll smell and have no friends, etc. However, a friend of mine introduced me to Dentyl pH… appealing more to the ‘darker’ side of my personality, he claimed that you could ‘see the s**t that comes out of your mouth’! He was right… I’d brushed my teeth and assumed that I had a clean, plaque-free mouth ... more
