Advantages: Little fuss, highly effective contraception Disadvantages: The side effects.. Oh, the side effects
...get it???------
You need to get Depo on prescription from your Doctor. It's remarkably easy to get; go and see your GP, they will ask you some questions about it, take your blood pressure, weigh you and give you a prescription. You then take this to your pharmacy, where you will be given the 150mg suspension in 1mL (with needle and syringe) in a little box. You don't have to pay for it either, because it is contraception and therefore free on the ...

Advantages: highly effective; less hassle; maybe your periods will go away! Disadvantages: as with most medicines there are possible side effects
Depo-Provera is one of two types of contraceptive injections currently available in the UK. The other is called Noristerat; both injections contain a type of hormone called progestogen (which is meant to mimic the effects of the female hormone progesterone) and both work in similar ways, however Depo-Provera is the most commonly used out of the two.
These injections contain hormones which work in the same way as the pill to prevent unplanned pregnancies ...

...just before the next. Depo works primarily by preventing your ovaries from releasing an egg every month (ovulation). It also thickens the mucus at your cervix, making it harder for sperm to get through and fertilise an egg, and thins the lining of your womb, making it inhospitable to any fertilised eggs (which are exceedingly unlikely to have happened anyway).
Depo Provera has an efficacy rate of over 99% in both typical and perfect use, which ...

...doctor this time suggested the Depo Provera injection, which again can be used when breastfeeding.
It all sounded so simple. Visit the nurse every 10-12 weeks, have an injection and forget all about contraception for the next 3 months or so. Perfect for having 2 young children and not having to remember to take the pill every morning if other things are more urgent – something that is usually the case at the start of most days. And another bonus ...

My Happy Jab Review ofDepo Contraceptive Injectionby
Testarossa
Advantages: You may stop having periods Disadvantages: Weight gain and, oh read on!
I was on Depo Provera for 3 years before there was a problem with the supply in October 2002, and I had to change my method of birth control.
I loved my Depo. My husband called it my “Happy Jab”. I found that I didn’t get any PMT, and as I had spotting 10 weeks after each injection, the doctor allowed me to have the injection every 10 weeks (normally every 12 weeks), and I therefore had no periods whatsoever for almost 3 years.
So how does Depo ...

Advantages: prevents pregnancy Disadvantages: potential major side effects
I had no significant health issues prior to taking Depro, had maintained the same weight, give or take 5 lbs., for many yrs., and had no issue taking the weight off when it did fluxuate. I received my last shot in Nov. of 2006 (I received four shots total) and today am still experiencing many side effects. While taking Depro, my symptoms included excessive weight gain, major circulation issues (my arms would fall asleep repeatedly-very painful), chest ...

the injection : DEPO PROVERA!!!!!

WHERE DO YOU HAVE IT?

Normally this is given in your gluteus maximus (the posh name for the muscle of your arse cheeks! Simply because a lot of fat (for most of us anyway) is stored here, which makes it easier and less painfull for the injection ...

I nearly died from Depo Provera & think it should come with a warning before it's given.
It's a contraceptive injection that is given to women as 1 injection in the buttock. They contraceptive effects last approximately 12 weeks.
The medicine comes in small vials that the Dr open to inject into you. It's very thick stuff & my Dr complained that it hurt her thumbs to push the syringe !!!

Advantages: stoped me from getting pregnant Disadvantages: have put on a lot of weight
I call the depo the fat injection because this is what I feel it is. After having my daughter I decided to breast feed and as the pill I had been taking since I was 14 (Microgynon 30) affects the flow of milk I had to go on the mini pill.
The mini-pill made me feel sick and gave me such bad headaches I could not lift my head from the pillow, which was not a bad thing in the early days as my daughter was constantly feeding.
I decided the best ...

Advantages: Effective contraception, stops periods Disadvantages: None
I have been having the depo provera injection for 15 years. When I started it, I had no intention of ever having more children so I wasn't worried about the long term effects if I may want children in the future.
I think it is the best form of contraception I've ever had. I've had coils fitted twice, and both times they were a nightmare for me, with pain and periods lasting up to 35 days. I tried The Pill and although it was ok, I kept forgetting ...
