Advantages Advantages Top Spec Machine for a Reasonable Price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Purchase made by cheque/bankers draft/paypal - no credit cards.

I had owned my trusty HP Pavilion 1GHZ desktop computer since the turn of the century - (1999 to be exact, but turn of the century sound good doesn't it?) But, it was time to upgrade. I was quite happy with the machine taking the best part of whole morning to render my home videos ready to burn to DVD, but when I read in a Digital Photography magazine that effectively to edit and burn videos a processor of at least 2 GHZ (3+ recommended) and memory of at least 512 MB (1 GB recommended), I thought it was time to upgrade. Off to the local shops, but what a shock I had when I realised that it ... more

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dreadful customer and after sales service.

I bought a laptop from pcspecialist.co.uk in December 2007 and it hasn't worked properly EVER! It is now January 2009!!! They have the worst customer service and after sales service I have ever come across. They're incompetence is surpassed by none. This may seem like a lot to read, but if you're contemplating buying anything from pcspecialist.co.uk, you'd be very wise to read on… Shortly after I got the laptop it began to freeze up over and over and over. When I contacted pcspecialist.co.uk they told me it must be a hard drive problem because I was also having a lot of latency problems (slow ... more

Advantages Advantages Knowledgeable staff. Easy to follow tracking system. Excellent interaction when problems arose.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Handling of faulty monitor could have been improved.

As a retirement present to ourselves, self and husband decided to push the boat out and buy a couple of heavy duty gaming machines. We wanted machines that would handle the newest generation of 3D games and also provide good processing/handling for our extensive collection of wildlife photographs. We both opted for pretty much the same spec: Case: COOLERMASTER HAF 932 FULL TOWER GAMING Processor: Intel® Core™i7 Processor Extreme Edition i7-980X (3.33GHz) 6.4GTs/12MB Cache Motherboard: ASUS® P6X58D PREMIUM: TRUE USB 3.0 & SATA 6.0Gb/s, 3-Way SLI Memory (RAM): 12GB CORSAIR XMS3 TRI-DDR3 Graphics ... more

Advantages Advantages Good spec for the price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very poor build quality, poor customer service, time-consuming

PC Specialist seem to be really good value for money in relation to their specifications however the likelihood of having to spend so much more on righting their faults makes the overall cost huge. Their team aren't very helpful and do not sound at all interested on the phone. My experience with them: So, I ordered a laptop from PC Specialist in January this year, my budget was £500 but was advised by a friend (who recommended the company to me) that to get the spec I needed that I should up my budget. I ended up getting a great spec for £785 and chose the collect&return for the 1 year ... more

Advantages Advantages Very informative and easy process, simple easy to use means of assembling your dream machine.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Again time will tell if the components are up to scratch on longevity, but so far so good!

I've had my Desktop from PcSpecialist for just over a week now, so far so good. Quality wise the machine has lived up to my expectations so I have no issue with the components just yet, though if I do, i've set up the repair guarantee for replacements, which I should hopefully never need to use. As for the service I found many things to be surprising. The Customization Build options have been very helpful in determining compatibility between components and suggesting alternatives. The community forums where the staff and buyers converse between one another has been very informative in choosing ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy ordering, UK call centre, the cheapest I could find!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Production times can be slow

My old computer was about 5 years old and was getting to the point where some major component would fail any moment. I started research as to what components of a new computer I needed and which company to go with. There were lots of appealing organizations. I was originally going to go with Dell, despite their terrible support. But fortunately I stumbled across pcspecialist. I was a bit skeptical about their prices and legitimacy. But after reading reviews from both their website and across the Internet, I was more confident and began picking my components. I was amazed at the level of ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast, Cheap, Well Built and Well Laid out.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Site cannot calculate prive dynamically.... but thats not so bad.

I was looking for a good computer that would last me another 10 years as my previous computer was getting on a bit and the motherboard eventually kicked the bucket after years of abuse. Obviously I was looking for something that would last 10 years so I needed something at lest of a medium spec but I was also on a tight budget as my dad would be the one buying me this computer and the cheeper it was, the more likely he was to accept the one I had chosen over a £300 one he has his eye on. I looked at Dell as a starting point and many online benchmarks, thoroughly researched components and their ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice website; great value for money for quality components; excellent customer support.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps limited configuration options, but only for those who really want to micro-manage.

PC Specialist have an excellent website. The configuration options for a pre-built PC are varied without being too overwhelming, and you can narrow down the search right from the off by choosing the approximate price range. I have made the mistake in the past of ordering from a really cheap website and although it seemed like I was getting a tremendous system for the price, one by one the components began to die over the next 18 months or so. PC Specialist make a point of stressing that they use good brands and high quality components throughout. They might not be the cheapest out there, but ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small, powerful, portability

Disadvantages Disadvantages keyboard could be better

I ordered my Inferno on the 4th of January, and unfortunately my build was delayed while new stock of the 120W PSU arrived. I chose an i7-3630QM, a higher wattage CPU. Most likely I'll never need that much processing power, but it wasn't much more than an i5, so I thought why not! Overall specs include 8GB 1600MHz RAM, a 2GB GT650M GPU and 180GB Intell 330 SSD. You may be looking at those specs and comparing them to other laptops, the top end Macbook pro right now comes with the same CPU and a 1GB version of the GPU, it's a pretty respectable amount of power in a portable compter. It's also ... more
