Introduction~ I've always suffered from dry skin and have recently been told by my doctor that a rash I get on my upper arms in warm weather is actually a form of eczema. Having been under the assumption that it was just a heat rash I have never sought any medical help before, but on a recent visit to my GP for a totally unrelated matter I happened to mention the itching and dry patches and my doctor suggested to dry this emollient cream 'Diprobase' for a while to see if it helped. What is it?~ Diprobase is an emollient cream which acts by soothing and moisturising the skin similarly to ... more

I've suffered from eczema for a few years now, it's a horrible condition but it's made more bearable by my various lotions and potions that I use to treat it whenever it flares up. For anyone who doesn't already know, eczema is an inflammatory skin condition which causes the skin to itch, swell, crust, crack and so on. Diprobase cream aids in moisturising the dry skin, while also giving it a nice 'cool' sensation which is a very relieving kind of feeling and it certianly aids in calming the itchiness down by a noticeable amount. I don't usually use this when my eczema is at its worse and ... more

Here I am trying to struggle with my Eczema and the cold weather. My preference would be to stay in doors from October until the Daffodils are out.But unfortunately I have to work for a living,so Its not really an option. At the moment my skin is so dry and red, that it actually stings when I get in the bath.It has formed attractive red patchy flakey bits, inbetween my great nut cracking thighs,my toned and taught belly, and all the way down my arms. This is not doing anything for my self confidence at the moment! Its worse than having a big whitehead on the end of your nose. So at the moment I am ... more

Is there a world-wide shortage of Diprobase or is it just confined to N Ireland? Maybe it is connected to oil prices, after all it is made from liquid paraffin! My 7 year old daughter has suffered with eczema since she was 6 weeks old, her's is the type that will not go away, it is inherited from her father. Basically she suffers with extremely dry skin that flares up into horrible bright red patches that sometimes bleed or even become infected. She gets very itchy if she is too warm, ill, or a bit run down. To try and avoid her skin from breaking out in sore patches she has a daily regime of ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be oily.

Years ago when I used to live in bedsit land, go out drinking all the time and eat a very unhelathy diet, I used to suffer fron excema. I used to find Dibrobase excellent for helping to alleviate this. Now that I am married and more settled, don`t drink as much and eat a better diet, I rarley suffer from excema and if I do it is very mild. I still like to keep some Diprobase on hand though just in case and it is also useful for dry skin. Advantages Advantages Effective moisturising cream, soothes, doesn't sting, prevents recurrence of severe eczema

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Clinical scent

I have suffered with dry, sensitive skin and recurrent episodes of quite severe eczema since early childhood. My boys have also inherited my dry skin and also experience flare ups of eczema of varying severity. Over the years, I have used many different creams, ointments and treatments for both myself and my children, both on prescription and over the counter remedies. I have found that stress and anxiety can bring on quite nasty eczema, usually requiring a strong steroid-based cream such as Hydrocortisone, Betnovate or Fucibet to clear up the initial inflammation. These types of topical ... more

I was prescribed this cream by my doctor a few weeks ago, when I had some eczema on my wrist that just wouldn’t clear up. It was really dry and itchy and was getting really sore. I had never heard of this diprobase cream before I used it a few weeks ago, I usually use aqueous cream or sudocreme and this usually relieves my eczema. This cost me a normal prescription charge of £7.20, and it was well worth the money, as I only had a small patch of eczema and only have to use a small amount, mine is going to last ages. I got a 500g tub with a dispenser which I personally think is way too much for ... more

For most of my life, I have suffered with sensitive skin, rashes, allergies, hives, eczema etc etc and I can only thank my father for passing these wonderful genes down to me ( he has done nothing else for me lol!!) I have used many different creams, lotions, potions and emoliants over the years and some have worked, some have done nothing. One of the massive list of items I have tried is Diprobase Cream, which was prescribed to me by the doctor a couple of years ago for the dry skin I was suffering with on my arms and sometimes on my neck. Diprobase comes in a large, white tub and has a ... more

I have suffered with Eczema on and off since being a young child and when it flares up it is really itchy as any sufferers will know. About 6 months ago my skin on my arms began flaring up and on showing my senior at work she let me use a spare Diprobase pump bottle we have in stock just so that we can self-administer for 2 days for a resident if we cannot got a doctor out and I tried it. The cream which I now get on prescription when I need it as it costs around £10 for the big pump action bottle which holds 500g although you can buy a smaller 50g for around £3 so you can give it try and make ... more

    Advantages Advantages Soothing, really moisturises

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some may find it greasy

I was prescribed Diprobase emollient a few years ago, when I was suffering bouts of skin irritation on my legs that resulted in itchy, dry and flaky patches. I have never suffered from that since that particular occurrence cleared up, but I have had outbreaks of something similar on my hands on and off over the years. When I was prescribed it the doctor told me I may want to use it at night as it's greasy, but I have not experienced this, I think it's fine so long as you don't use too much. I got the 500g pump dispenser rather than a tube of it since I was using it all over both legs, which is ... more
