I have been a direct line customer for over 5 years and had not experienced any problems until recently when a direct debit failed. Direct Line were not able to tell me why it had not worked (not entirely surprised, but I had checked with the bank before phoning and all was fine as far as they were concerned). Direct Line's response was to demand the full premium up front, or cancel the policy - not liking to be threatened, I cancelled the policy. ...

...my first subsantial claim with Direct Line Insurance after the theft of my vehicle. The vehicle has not been found, the police have closed the file on it and yet, two months on, I am still exchanging letters and phone calls with Direct Line in an attempt to get them to pay out on the policy.
