My brother died when I was 17. He was 7. He'd battled with cancer since the week before his 3rd birthday. We saved up and bought him a postman pat mug and plate. He wasn't allowed them in his isolation unit at the hospital, but loved them once he got back home. He always found something to giggle over, and his smile would crack the face of the heavens open with light and joy and brightness. He died at home, in his wee makeshift bed in mum and dad's room. Cosy, warm, with mum and dad holding him. When we went in the next morning, he looked just like he was sleeping. We said so. Very pale and ... more

I don't know what happens when we die, but I'm 100% sure that we don't just turn to worm food. There is much more to us than just a body. The body, our vessel goes back to the earth, this we know. But the Spirit, ghost, energy whatever you want to think of it as…that must go somewhere. My Mother is traditionally known as 'crazy' because she has always claimed to be able to see and talk to spirits, she strongly believes in angels and has out of body experiences. Her first was quite accidental. She was exhausted from an illness and was lying on her bed at home, not quite sleeping because my ... more

Advantages Advantages It's up to everyone to decide for themselves, no compulsion

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Consequences

= INTRODUCTION = I believe that there is life after death, and that the way in which we will all experience that life is entirely a matter of our free will and conscious decision here. I am not one of those who puts their faith in science to provide all the answers, who believe that science can explain everything, only it just hasn't got there yet. Science is very good at explaining the what's and the how's, but it is not suited to explaining the why's. There is something in the human make-up that is more than the mechanical, the sum of myriad chemical reactions. Why do we appreciate beauty ... more

I don’t think I either believed or disbelieved in life after death but now I am not so sure. After my dad died (10 years ago) my mam often said that he was still with her, she could hear the clothes hangars in her wardrobe move along the rail and sometimes she could feel him next to her in bed. There were lots of little things that happened that my mam was adamant happened because of my dad. I used to say that it was her imagination. Then on New Year’s Eve 2004 my mam saw a blue ball float over her half open bedroom door and float across the room and land on top of her wardrobe. She knew it ... more

A year ago, I would have empathetically said yes, life goes on after death, many things happened in my childhood that I could not have put down to mere co-incidences. Over time, my beliefs have been questioned over and over again, leading always to the same conclusion. Today is the 1st anniversary of my mother’s death, mostly spent crying on my own and thinking back, but I am left without comfort. I need to explore this in stages. My Childhood. My mother was very physic and a practising medium at the Spiritualist church, only giving up when she was eight months pregnant with me. In later years ... more

    Advantages Advantages Many ....( if there's an after-life )

Disadvantages Disadvantages If there's nothing after we die, why are wasting our lives now.

Hmmm, still in the café,….. I like it here, once sat down, it's hard to leave. The coffee and sticky buns are always free, and the Ciao waitress is quite tasty too! I will get round to some boring products soon …I promise,... well, we'll see! I know loads of people have written about this subject, but thought I'd stick my 2p worth in to add a bit colour to the café…. if I can. And before we start on the subject, I'd like to describe the Ciao café that I'm sat in at the mo, got my feet on the table, fag in one hand, and coffee in the other.… My Ciao café, I recon is somewhere in the centre of ... more

Advantages Advantages It would be nice to know for sure whether there is anything after we die

Disadvantages Disadvantages But then what if the place that awaits us after death isn't all that nice?

Having just read CWMonkey's review on this subject, I felt it was time to update my review as my views will no doubt have changed on this topic since I first wrote this review. Firstly I think I’ll set the tone for the rest of this opinion. ~ My background ~ Like many children, when I was born I was Christened. Neither of my parents are in any way religious so you may ask why they had me Christened. I've asked them myself to which they replied "it was the done thing in those days". So I was, quite frankly, Christened for no other reason than it was "the done thing". As a child, attending an ... more

Do I believe in Life after Death, well the answer has to be a defineate yes, I believe your spirit lives on and watches over us, your physical body has gone, but your spirit lives on. Before I go on to explain my views and feelings, you possilby need to know that I am a spiritualist and a working medium, so I link to two worlds together, thats the earth plain and the spirit world. I do this in Spiritualist Churches bringing evidence from the Spirit World. How I got here? From a child there were times when I knew what would happen, I talked to people in my head (no I'm not mad), I would ask ... more

Having been bitten with the bug to do a few non-profit café reviews for a change, I thought I'd have a go at the big one. This is a debate that I have been thinking about tackling for a while but when you stop and think about these things you often realise that you don't really know what you believe in. Having mused a while on the topic I have made the leap and will give you a few thoughts and conclusions from the mixed up mind of Steerpyke's. When thinking on these big issues it often becomes clear that there is no conclusive answer and a number of options hold water with you. Unless you are ... more

I have always believed I have a healthy attitude towards death, As far as I am concerned when you die one of two things may occur. No 1....I don't know anyone who can tell me the exact moment they fall asleep. Well, I believe that death is like that, even extreme death, i.e. accident or worse. The actual moment of death is non-existent because if there is nothing else you won't know anyway. You will pass away and that will be that... No 2....If No 1 is not the end, well, this could be the start of the most incredible adventure of your life or death. I feel that a belief that there is something ... more
