...and in newspaper adds that Dolphin Bathroom were having a sale, so we decided to call them up and get a quote from them.
The salesman came out to see us and was friendly and was there for about 4 hours and didn’t pressure us once into buying a bathroom from them.
When he quoted the price of £6000 I nearly chocked but when we discussed this decided to go for it.
The surveyor came out and again took nearly 3-4 hours planning the bathroom and ... ...had been any recommendations on Dolphin but we couldn’t find much if any and all we found were complaints which made us unsure and we also saw things on Watchdog about the company and we started to have big doubts in going ahead with Dolphin.
We did check up with a few places and a lot said as they have been going for over 30 years they are of course going to get complaints and no one really ever says when they are satisfied really do they?

About 3 years ago, I succumbed to the “a proper shower would really enrich my life” pressure coming from Mrs Bnibbles. Since I prefer a good wallow, we had to compromise on a corner bath with a power shower enclosure. Not being the world’s best plumber or most enthusiastic tiler (motto – “don’t worry, it’ll look alright when it’s grouted”), ... ...I asked them how many Dolphin installations had they heard of where the bath was fitted but not the panel. This also fell on deaf ears. I’m afraid I got to a stage where I couldn’t be arsed to fight any more and gave in, resolving never to touch Dolphin (or Moben, their partners in crime) ever again. At least I was voting with my feet, and now I’m writing this opinion, helping others to “make that consumer decision” ...

...We decided to go with Dolphin as we thought it would be less hassle and stress, with Dolphin arranging all the workmen and everything involved with getting a new bathroom, (what a mistake that turned out to be.) My mum has M.S., therfore getting in and out of our old bath was problematic. So, we eventually decided on a wetroom. The Designer/ Sales Person was great; he did not pressure us into anything only helped us make all those important decisions, ... ...so it wasted electricity and Dolphin took over a week to get back to us let alone sort the problem.
They often hung up the phone on us, which was extrememly frustrating and not to mention incredibly rude.
We had dirty water from the toilet come up into the shower, flooding the bathroom, and blockages in the drain.
Small fixtures and fittings weren't fitted until weeks after the wetroom and even then they weren't fitted very well, as they fell ...

...three quotes and I chose Dolphin as my first. One of my mates had used them and was very pleased with the outcome, but she did say they were a little expensive. Remember that word "Little".
I checked them out on the Net, ordered a brochure and booked a rep to come and measure up, discuss my ideas and give us a price.
I booked him for 2.00 p.m. last Wednesday and he duly arrived, dead on time and even took his shoes off before he entered. Wrong!!!! ... ...it if someone does that, especially if it is a man. (My immediate thought was that he is obviously nagged at home, and his wife is house proud). He didn't think of taking his trousers off incase they left marks on my brand new beige leather suite!! He then went on to say that some homes he has been in even left his socks filthy. He quickly said "not yours of course". What a start.

Here are the opions of my experience:
After having a sales consultat our house and ending up with a quote of £8300 for our small bathroom doing, it was indeed far more (by about £2000) expensive than we were thinking, but decided to go ahead on the basis of relying upon a long standing, professional and well established company to do the whole thing. Excepting the painting that was. The all in one package attracted us.
There are far too many problems ... ...we have, to comment on, so I will name just a few things.
the promised 10 working day turnaround was not going to plan but as we addressed this continually it was ignored. We were never apologised to for ANYTHING until it had gone too far and we had not only had a manager of the area to our home but written our complaints in.

...had my bathroom refurbished by Dolphin and was extremely impressed with the service I received, right from the initial sale through to the completion of the work. Their Customer Service staff were very professional and efficient and kept in touch with me every step of the way. The fitter was absolutely brilliant and transformed my dingy bathroom into a stunning wetroom. Nothing was too much trouble and he had to accommodate my work schedule, which ... ...comment on negative experiences but I merely wanted to offset that with some positive feedback. I am airline cabin crew so understand just how difficult and demanding the general public can be. Well done Dolphin and I would not hesitate to recommend you to any of my friends. ...

...couple of months ago to Dolphin - and THEN found these reviews! You can imagine my panic. However, I have to be honest and say I was thoroughly impressed with Dolphin's professionalism from start to finish and am now the proud owner of a beautiful, gleaming, well-fitted bathroom.
The sales process was bizarre - basically he asked how much we were prepared to spend: I lied and told him 6 grand (I'd set aside 8 and a half). After going right round ... ...were frequent phone calls from Dolphin to check on progress and a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the job. Two weeks later, we are still delighted with the work and the finished bathroom. We have one very minor problem in that the seal between bath and bath panel has come away in places, but we have mentioned it to Dolphin and are awaiting a response. To be honest, it will be easily rectified.
Overall, it was a suprisingly unstressful ...

Firstly, we fancied a Dolphin Bathroom so we phoned and booked a home visit for a "designer". We got a cocky sales rep who thought we couldnt afford the bathroom and so couldnt be bothered to do the sale (we had just moved in and everywhere was a bit of a mess). So we phoned again and asked for another person to visit, this time we got a rather pleasant gent, who talked us through our purchase. He knew what he was talking about, and his sales technique ... ...mistake, I tried to call Dolphin to find that there offices are only open Mon-Fri, normal business hours. Basically if you get a problem on the weekend you're screwed. So I phoned a local Dolphin store, they didnt have any other numbers other than the 9-5, Mon to Fri. I rang and rang the "Dedicated Customer Service Number" which just rang and rang - unanswered!
VERY annoyed that they dont have an emergency number!

I contacted Dolphin Bathrooms in January of this year after seeing their website, visiting one of their showrooms, and being generally very impressed with the appearance of their kit and their apparent professionalism.
A designer came out and designed me a bathroom to my specification which I was very pleased with on paper. The cost was considerably more than I wanted to pay but I was not really that concerned as the finance options ... ...came out to see me 2 weeks later to take measurements and advised me that I would have to change a couple of things due to my water pressure and such like. Fine again...
I then waited 2 months. I heard nothing.
I contacted them a few times and was passed from department to department. It seemed that my designer had been too late in submitting my application and the finance company they deal with (First National) needed new copies of my agreement ...

...ex-plumber now doing sales for Dolphin so he really understood what the issues were, took several hours to draw up the spec, and got us to sign off on it. We were quoted about 40% more than an independent plumber, but we would have had to get a plasterer in to redo the ceiling, have a different mirror, and buy our own flooring for him to fit. Aside: a colleague who had his bathroom done by independent traders told me that his plumber put the pipework ... ...place on the drawings.
Dolphin won't give you a date for the work. My understanding is that they keep their teams working 100% by not scheduling the next job until the the previous one is almost finished, which means you get a day or two of warning before they turn up. Make sure your ansaphone is working!
Also, they deliver all the bits to your house a week or two ahead of the work, and you have to store them somewhere. They probably figure that ...

...decided to do it "the Dolphin way" (in house planning, all jobs done by one company, on site technical surveys, project managed, etc).
Following a trip to the local showroom we arranged for a sales man to call. He phoned on the day to say he couldn't make it because he had filled his car with diesel instead of petrol (attention to detail - not a good start). He then said I should phone Head Office and arrange another appointment - I pointed out ... ...done no 'net research on Dolphin and had no idea of some the problems others had faced.
We decided that this combination of "red flags" was enough to make us think again and when we declined to sign I was reminded that the discount could not be held for ever. I suggested that if that was the case then he need not worry about it as we would not be doing business with them.
Having since spoken to a highly recommended, local bathroom fitter we think ...

...in the sixties! We chose Dolphin as they are a well known company and we had had one of their showers in our previous house which served us well for nine years. However I would never ever use the company again.
Detailing all of the problems we had would make for a longer read than War and Peace so I will summarise below:
1. 13 days without a bath or shower
2. 6 days without a functioning toilet
3. 4 days staying in all day waiting for fitters ... ...numerous examples of poor workmanship and lack of care taken. We have since received substantial restitution from Dolphin but this in no way compensates for the disruption of our lives for so long and the stress and anxiety caused by the company's total lack of concern for their customers. ...

My experience with Dolphin Bathrooms has been a nightmare.
My bathroom was redesigned and fitted from 12-19 Feb 2002.
To date I have got nowhere with the Customer Service Team, they are not interested, but I wont be giving up
They forgot to secure a pipe in the attic properly, so after a few weeks the complete contents of the tank cascaded into my daughters bedroom as the pipe to the tank burst, I have to replace the ceiling in the bedroom, redecorate, ... ...bedding etc etc.
IN ADDITION to this, the bathroom has been badly designed. When the shower is used, it runs down the bare plaster walls, and this is bubbling and disintegrating. The toilet and bathroom doors do not close properly after their fitter rehung them. The electrics kept shorting out, the sink and the bath do not match.
They said I signed a satisfaction note, and agreed verbally that all was well. However they failed to realise that both ...

...a really bad experience with Dolphin Bathrooms (March 2008).
The quote was on the high side but I was assured that the quality was worth it.
Despite the fact that the designer/surveyor and delivery office being informed of my limited storage all of the equipment was delivery 2 1/2 week before installation (I live in a flat) which was really inconvenient.
I was assured that installation is carried out by employees of Dolphins, this is not the case ... ...a really bad job and worked strange hours, i,e Mothering Sunday! And hassled me after the installation because he hadn't been paid as I wasn't happy with the work.
I was charged for an outside tower and for the walls and ceiling to be dry lined and skimmed this didn't happen ( I still haven't had a refund) in fact the customer service is appalling you hold forever but if you leave a message they don't call you back,
Back to the fitters I was left ...

...and tiling to local people. Dolphin salesman insisted that all workmen were employed by the company, trained, accredited and approved to a high standard, and guaranteed by the company. Having parted with a lot of money, after a 2 hour fight of the benefits of a finance package I sat back and waited for my dream bathroom.
Being qualified in project management I did a check on the cost at a local plumbing contractor of the items purchased, and was ... ...the reluctance of the sales persons ability to quote prices for the individual items supplied. A lot of money must be made on each item.
However the day arrived, a van arrived with ************** plumbing services from ********, On discussing with Mr. X. it turns out he works for himself, and is not employed by Dolphin. Whilst at work, his mate did the tiling, now I've done a little bit over the years, but Stevie Wonder would have done better after ...
