Apes 1 Crocs 0
Review of Donkey Kong Country (SNES) by dave27

Advantages: Great, absorbing play
Disadvantages: Hmmm.....

...time our eyes alighted upon DONKEY KONG COUNTRY, a masterpiece among games, and we never looked back. Now, when you've never played any sort of real video game before, DKC is a bit of an eye opener, all glowing colours and jungle scenes with a bunch of very odd apes tracking through stage after stage, desperately seeking to vanquish the crocs (WHY!!!!) to locate their recently lost gigantic mound of bananas, which the said reptilean brutes have ... Causes a Rumble in the Jungle
Review of Donkey Kong Country (SNES) by Robert_Wood

Advantages: Superlative graphics, atmospheric sounds, traditional platfrom gameplay
Disadvantages: not a patch on the Mario series

Donkey Kong Country is a game that the whole world quite literally went ape over. A multi-million dollar advertising campaign made sure it was known to everyone on this planet bar the most isolated Tibeten monks. It went on to sell over eight million copies, making Nintendo mountains of cash and propelling British company Rare to stardom in the process. Was it all worth the hype? Well, read what I have to say and make your own decision... There's ... Read review

Rumble in the Jungle
Review of Donkey Kong Country (SNES) by mrten_8

Advantages: Beautiful for it's day, great gameplay
Disadvantages: Super Mario World is better

...is the so-far, Europe exclusive Donkey Kong Country. Donkey Kong, like Mario, is one of Nintendo's flagship characters, and you'd expect it to be of a high quality. The first in the series to get a VC release is Donkey Kong Country for the SNES, released in 1994. Available from the Wii's day of release in Europe, December 8th, if you ask me, it's definitely worth 800 of your Wii Points! You play as both Donkey and Diddy Kong, and you can switch ... Donkey Kong rocks
Review of Donkey Kong Country (SNES) by andithegoose

Advantages: Good looks, good sound, good gameplay
Disadvantages: Poor two-player

This game is truly one of the most amazing games ever produced. It looks, in all honesty, better than any other 2D platformer ever. The game's graphics are rendered, and this gives them a 3D look. The gameplay is varied, ranging from tree climbing to underwater swimming, mine cart riding to destroying giant beavers. The game also boasts superb music, which is certainly clear when compared to similar output on the Sega Megadrive. There is also a ... Read review

Is This A SNES game?
Review of Donkey Kong Country (SNES) by Scotty

Advantages: Graphics, Characters, Originality
Disadvantages: Price, Put your fist through the TV screen - its that frustrating sometimes

...2 main characters to control: Donkey and Diddy. Each have their own features and characteristics. There are also a number of small role characters that appear in a few levels, like enguarde the swordfish and rambi the rhino. Not only is originality shown here, but the levels are brilliantly designed, each having their own secrets or special modes. For example, you get to ride in a mine cart dodging enemies, whilst staying on the right track. The graphics ... Read review
