●●● DOUBLE MAXIM ●●●
Double Maxim was first brewed in 1901 (as Maxim Ale) to honour the return of the Maxim Gun Detachment (commanded by Major Ernest Vaux) from the Boer war.
Following its launch landlords complained of its potency and the strength was reduced, only to be doubled again on 22nd July 1938, and the beer renamed Double Maxim.

The 500 ml bottle is available in most BM stores at a cheaper price of £1.30 (thereabouts)
There's never enough in my fridge, be nice to to see it more in local bars again
"...had our last pint of DOUBLE MAXIM all those years ago. Here it is, back and better than it was before, I adore this beer, I cant think of any other beer I feel so strong about.
The taste ( in my opinion) is a sharp yet smooth caramel, with strong hint of Hop, it is smooth to taste and leaves a pleasant aftertaste in the mouth, it is the taste of the past, the way Beer used to be made with pride, and one can enjoy the same drink in the same as was ..."
