...purposes of this review, ‘New Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion’.
I bought the Dove version for the first time this year. I really can’t remember the price, but it would have been under a fiver as I don’t spend much on cosmetics as a rule. (Just looking on the Superdrug website, and a bottle containing 400mls costs £6.99). My bottle contains 250 mls, which is ok as you wouldn’t want to spend too much on trying out a product, in case you hate it. Mine ... ...past two weeks. I haven’t used it as frequently as the bottle suggests, and have put it on three times each week. So far my legs are looking nicely golden in some lights, although some of my work friends can’t see any difference! The thing is, I CAN, and feel more confident with having a little glow to them.
How to use: The bottle just says to apply it daily, and allow to absorb into the skin before dressing. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Avoid ...

Advantages: Beautiful, natural looking tan, no streaks, relatively cheap, no nasty smells Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...tan. I first tried Dove self-tanning moisturiser about eighteen months ago. I believe I paid about £4.99 for it from my local Sainsbury's and to be honest, I've never looked back. I've used many items from the tried and trusted Dove range, including anti-cellulite cream, shampoo, deodorant and soap, so I thought that I would give this a try too as it is a brand I am both familiar and happy with.
The container itself is an off/white, creamy coloured ... ...including a little golden embossed dove underneath. The bottle describes the contents as, 'Summer Glow Body Lotion' and comes in two different shades - fair to normal skins, and normal to dark skins. My skin is possibly the palest you've ever seen. During my time, I have been nicknamed 'Casper' and have often been told I look 'ill', 'transparent', anaemic' and even 'consumptive' - so, you get the picture.
The bottle explains that it delivers daily ...

...but then I saw the Dove advertisement for their equivalent product Summer Glow featuring real women with lumps and bumps like I have looking healthy and happy and ever a sucker for Dove's much more subtle advertising strategies, the glamorous lady in the Holiday Skin ad got relegated. Come back when you've learned to sweat, eat cream cakes and have bad hair day's lady…
At the moment the market is flooded with this type of product. It is a body lotion ... ...frenzy has ensued.
The Dove product is called Summer Glow Body Lotion and is available for Fair to Normal skin and Normal to Dark skin. I tested the Fair to Normal. Even the bottle itself has a slight tan. Although it is packaged in the same style as the rest of the Dove range, the bottle has moved away from the trademark Dove white to a warm creamy colour. It claims to produce results in about 5 days. The body lotion applies and absorbs easily. ...

...a go.
I chose Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion after seeing it advertised on TV. The main reason I purchased this one above others is because I really like the Dove advertising scheme about their 'Campaign for Real Beauty'. It makes you feel that you don't have to be skinny to be beautiful and so because of this I chose their self tanning moisturiser.
Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion has two types: one for fair to normal skin and one for normal to dark ... ...This product is available at most supermarkets or chemists, including Boots, Superdrug, Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, etc.
A sample of prices are:-
£3.25 for 250ml (taken from Asda.co.uk)
£6.98 for 400ml (taken from Asda.co.uk)

Advantages: Even light natural looking tan Disadvantages: Quite a strong fragrance
...I would give the new dove summer glow body lotion a try. After seeing it advertised on TV I liked the sound of it.
It sounded much easier to use than normal fake tans. As it was new out at the time it was on a buy one get one free offer at my local Lloyds pharmacy and cost me £4.99 which I didn't think was too bad. I have since then seen it a few pence cheaper at supermarkets but not a lot of difference in price.
The bottle is available in 250ml ... ...just like all the other dove bottles and came in a creamy yellow colour and was easy to find in the shops and would normally be with all the other tan lotions. On the bottle for darker skin the picture is slightly darker than the normal to fair so you can tell which is which.

I spent all my pale years wondering what it would be like to have fake tan, but after seeing some of my friends disasters i decided against it, however, I saw from an Advert on TV Dove Summer Body Glow. Which was said to "Gradually Build Up A Light Tan". I though it was perfect as I didnt want to go dark too quickly.

A bottle of Dove Summer Body Glow costs between £4.50 and £5. At the moment it is on buy one get one free at Superdrug, making it very cheap. The cheapest place I've seen it is Tesco. It is widely available in Boots, Superdrug, Asda and Tesco and I imagine other shops as well.

The instructions tell you to apply daily but once you've got a tan built up I only apply it every couple of days. Just rub it into your skin. Make sure that it is well rubbed in and well absorbed.

Advantages: Very economical, Time saving as Moisuriser and tan in one Disadvantages: Does need to be reapplied every few days
Well the TV advert worked with me. Normally I ignore ad's and do not get sucked in to promotion campaigns, but this time I saw all the slightly larger (although no as large as me) ladies looking brown and happy and thought yes I will give that a shot.
I am not new to fake tans and have had moderate success with some in the past including two done in beauty shops, one of which was in a spray booth and not at all bad in a scary way.
My main problem ... ...applying a fake tan, Make sure my legs are hair free and then apply an all over moisturiser. Only then am I normally ready to apply a fake tan. I also have to be really careful that I only apply a little to dry areas such as heals, Knees and elbows.
Anyway I bought a 400ml bottle of Summer Glow from Boots at £6.99. They also had a £250ml bottle which I think was about £4.99 but I chose the larger one as it was better value for money and thought ...

Advantages: Soft Skin Disadvantages: The consistency and orangey result-very very dark!
...6 hours at least. With Dove I was quite surprised to notice my skin took on a darker hue almost straight away. It was only about two hours later as I was getting ready to go for a few drinks with friends that I noticed my whole body had taken on a tango effect. I was mortified! I promptly dove into the shower to try and wash it down a bit in the hope it might take off some of the surface colour but I ended up in the shower for 45 mins exfoliating ... ...I'd even used a tanning mitt when applying the moisturiser to get the most even result!
It was the first and last time I used Dove! I didn't particularly like the consistency of the moisturiser either, it felt like applying thick natural yoghurt to my skin and took ages to actually absorb into my skin. Be warned you don't need much to get an effect with this stuff! The only plus factor was that, much like the Beauty Bar, the moisturiser did leave ...

Advantages: Really rich, smells great, gives a nice glow and leaves your skin feeling great. Disadvantages: The compulsory hand wash afterwards.
...glad to see that the Dove Summer Glow didn't let me down. Again it was £4.99 for 250ml. I was pleased to see that Dove was within my budget as I've been impressed for the advertising for their Campaign for Beauty although I'll admit to not knowing all that much about it yet.
I like the way this looks, it has a really nice warm colour to the bottle,a simple quite sleek design with the curved bottle. It looks like it should be a good quality product.
... ...promise of the packaging? Absolutely. I'm really happy with this moisturiser.
The first thing I noticed when I squeezed a small amount into my hand was the consistence, it was quite thick and had a rich consistency. Advantages: Moisturises and tans in one! Disadvantages: Quite a strong fruity smell some might not like
I bought some Dove Summer Glow body lotion with added tanning properties last summer when it was on offer. It was buy one get one free which seemed a bargain, I was not confident that it would actually work so I didn't want to pay too much.
I have very fair skin and never seem to tan no matter how long I sit in the sun, I have never bothered with self-tanning products before as they always seem so time consuming and often end up with an orange effect ... ...A 250ml bottle costs around £3.99, it lasts up to 12 months once opened and the bottle is recyclable. They do 2 different skin tones in this range, fair to normal and normal to darker.

My friend bought me a dove set for my birthday, in the box there was a summer glow body lotion, body wash and an exfoliating pad. These products were well presented and it was a very cute gift. The summer glow body lotion is available to buy individually for very low prices, I recently saw it for £1.99 in suprdrug. The summer glow body lotion is in a pale yellow/gold coloured 250ml bottle.
