Miracle bottles

Advantages: No wind, no ear infections, no colic, teats don't collapse, doesn't contain Bisphenol A
Disadvantages: Bit of a hassle to clean, the price

Now I must start this by saying I never had a particularly colicky baby to start with but I still think these are brilliant. After messing my baby about considerably; breast, bottle, orthadentic teats, normal teats, dummies etc I took the plunge and bought these. My baby is very adaptable and never bothers how she is getting her milk or what from as long as she is getting it. I mix fed her from the beginning and was using disposable orthadentic ...
...bottles full time it was too expensive to continue. So i bought some normal teats but these kept collapsing as she sucks so hard and the amount of bubbles going back into the milk really bothered me. Also because the teats were collapsing I had to keep taking them out of her mouth and upsetting her. So anyway, getting to the point, I was in Mothercare and I noticed these strange looking devices. They were brown and had a tube running down to the ...

Dr Dr Give Me A Bottle!!!

Advantages: Help Reduce The Chace Of Colic - Don't Leak!
Disadvantages: Price - Not Very Easy To Clean

My second born Max suffered with colic from when I took him home from hospital. He would just constantly cry for hours and by the end of the first week I was looking like a walking zombie. After reading through one of my magazines I saw an advertisement for Dr Brown's Natural flow bottles. After trying almost everything else I decided to nip down to boots to purchase these and give them a go. * Colic * It's that dreaded thing that every parent ...
...it generally appears in babies aged between two weeks to two months, but it can also affect babies later on. It doesn't affect girls more than boys and colic can affect perfectly healthy babies. The symptoms of colic are your baby continuously crying for long periods, espially while taking a feed. Also another symptom is if your baby is lay down that he or she is bringing their legs into their tummy, and are just generally not interested in there ...

Dr browns......best you can buy?

Advantages: No air escapes via the teat AT ALL! fantastic
Disadvantages: Leakes when liquid is to hot

Last spetember i had my third son, with my first i had used Avent bottles and had no problems what so ever with them so when it came around to my second i used Avent again, only this time my son got collic, not down to the bottles alone of course its one of those things but in the end we had to buy all kinds of different bottles to find a good one that did not let to much air through the teats. After trying Avent, Nuk, Tommie Tippie, and some shop ...
...and ended up sticking with the Nuk as they where one of the better ones from the makes we had bought. After all this trouble a friend later told me...."why did you not try Dr Browns" my reply was they where a little expensive but looking back it would of been cheaper to just but them in the first place!!. So when i became pregnant with my third son i decided straight away Dr Browns would be my bottles of choice. They where a little expensive costing ...

sanity returns!

Advantages: less wind, helped with colic
Disadvantages: leak if not upright, not the cheapest

I have been using these bottles for a few weeks now and felt i had used them long enough to give an honest review. Firstly a bit of background. With my first baby i was using the Avent bottles and had no problem with them at all they were fantastic so naturally I thought when i had my second i would use them again however second baby decided she was going to be miserable and scream non stop. So we get into the realms of that wonderful condition ...
...i can tell is the term when they cant find anything wrong with little one and dont just want to tell you you have a stroppy bad tempered baby! So i tried everything i could think of, things like Infacol and so on none of which seemed to make any difference and i still could not put little one down without her screaming until she made herself go purple. I decided therefore with little else to lose i would try changing her bottles to see if that helped. ...

Dr. Brown has come to Town

Advantages: teat more like mum's own, no colic valve system reduces wind and reflux
Disadvantages: pricey, remember to always remove the valves before nuking or heating.

I don't know who this Dr. Brown fellow is, but I tell you, I think he is a genius :) Having breastfed all my others and only using bottles when leaving with grandma etc., this time around I decided to do the same, so I just replaced the nipples on our old bottle assortment (Mothercare bottles that came with the steriliser), and sat back confidently. DOH! Things do not always go according to plan. The trouble all started when I noticed that for some ...
...to be the correct manner (baby number four here!), my nipples were mysteriously getting VERY sore and he was full of wind, drawing his poor knees up and screaming the hospital down. In came the midwife and she looked rather puzzled too, then suddenly she prised his mouth open for a quick peek and discovered he was tongue tied. Very tongue tied. Classic heart shaped tongue and all. This means that he cannot use his tongue properly to suck and swallows ...

Comfortable feeding at a price

Advantages: Baby feeds more comfortably, bottles good quality
Disadvantages: Takes longer to make up bottles, expenisve

Firstly, bottlefeeding is not the natural way a baby feeds so there will be some disadvantages to using a bottle that can not be helped, however these bottles do create more of a breastlike feed which can only be a good thing. You will see air bubbles develop in normal non-vented bottles. This is caused by vacuum pulling air through the teat into the bottle. These bubbles mix with the liquid which more than quadruples the amount of air that can ...
...feeding, these air bubbles can cause colic symptoms such as wind and posseting. These bottles are put togther to make a feeding system that has a unique air vent which minimizes the air swallowed by your baby. Some babies are affected by wind more than others so I think these bottles can be useful if your baby tends to suffer. These bottle cost just over £10 for a pack of 2. If feeding a baby from bottles as a newborn you will really need 8 bottles ...

absolutly fansastic....

Advantages: no colic
Disadvantages: harder to clean and leaks when making milk

My son is 10months old just now and when i was pregnant i expected to breastfeed so i didnt even buy any bottles because i thought if i have the bottles in the house then ill be tempted to give him one if i had a bad night or whatever. Anyway in the hospital i hadnt realised how sore and hard it was going to be so during the night i had been awake for about 4-5 hours and my son still wasnt satisfied so i gave in. I just felt (apart from very very ...
...day i came home i had to go buy some bottles and i was recommended Dr Brown bottles as they were very good anti colic bottles. I bought 2 packs of 3 bottles they were £10.49 each. Slightly more expensive than the more popular bottles but worth every penny. You can only buy 240ml bottles. Its the only size they come in. 240ml is 8 fluid ounces. These bottles have a tube in the middle of the bottle which you can remove to wash. The idea is that when ...

First Choice For a Fussy Little Madam!

Advantages: Sturdy, easy to hold and a nipple shaped teat.
Disadvantages: Pricey, a pain to clean and hard to mix milk in.

When my second child came along I breastfed initially but needed to get her used to a bottle for when I returned to work. I merrily got out the Avent bottles my firstborn had used, bought new teats and thought that I was set. I couldn't have been more wrong. She would hold the teat in her mouth but wouldn't suck or swallow any milk. I was at my wits end and told my health visitor who suggested trying other teats. Well, I bought up all the teats in ...
...and saw the "Dr Brown" teats. I tried them in the Avent bottles and they worked, she loved them. I think it was because the teat was slightly longer than the Avent ones and has a nipple shaped end to it. In case this was just coincidence I tried an Avent teat at the next feed but she didn't want it - just "Dr Brown's" magic ones! However all was not sorted though, the teat kept collapsing on the bottle. In the end I took the plunge and bought the ...

Quick review of Dr.Brown Baby Bottle

My daughter used Dr. Brown bottles after my granddaughter’s birth. She lost weight, too much. We stopped using Dr. Brown and she started gaining weight. A friend had to take her baby to the hospital for an unrelated problem and the hospital couldn’t find a vein they had collapsed. Both baby’s had been using Dr. Brown, the hospital advised to throw away the bottles and use something different the “valve” was causing the babies to work too hard to get the formula, causing them to work too hard and to fall asleep before they could finish the needed amount. After switching to different bottles both babies gained weight almost overnight. ...

Dr Brown/ B Free Bottles

Advantages: No teat collapse so no breaks in feed
Disadvantages: They are expensive BUT well worth it

We bought four Dr. Brown bottles back in 2004 when our son, now 2, was suffering from reflux. I almost changed my mind about buying them when I saw the price- over £10 for two bottles- but the thought "What the hell." The bottles have a patented system inside them which prevents a vacuum forming, released air bubbles when baby gulps, and therefore means your baby isn't taking on a load of air when he feeds. The teat doesn't collapse either so you ...
...air back into the bottle. You can buy Dr Brown silicon teats in sizes 1 (0-3months) 2 (3-6), 3 (6mths +) and variable flow ones. However, Ive found that Boots own silicon teats for their wide neck bottles are exactly the same as them and half the price, plus, if you join the Boots parenting club you earn double points on Boots branded baby products. The bottles can hold a maximum of 240ml We've found the bottles to be extremely hardwearing and ...

Genie in a bottle...

Advantages: Can help stop colic! Enough said.
Disadvantages: Annoying to clean

My baby girl had colic from 2 weeks, and the non - stop screaming was proving to be a very difficult thing to cope with on top of post natal depression. At 5.5 weeks old, my mother-in-laws PA told me about the bottles she had used with her son, and that they had worked miracles for them. When my mother-in-law agreed to buy them for us to use, I reluctantly agreed. Surely the health visitor and midwife had said there was no miracle cure for colic?? ...
...Erin had become more settled and contented, and the screaming stopped. I looked for all other things it could be, but nothing else in her routine had changed. With her now being 6 months old, we are still using the bottles exclusively, as they reduce the amount of wind she has, and also it seems easier for her to bring up the wind she does get. Although a little bit annoying to clean (6 separate pieces and the tiniest brush provided in the pack ...

dr brown! genius

Advantages: a happy baby and happy parents
Disadvantages: price

when my daughter was born we thought every thing would be perfect, untill hat dreaded day happened and colic kicked in and we needed ear plugs, and so did the neighbours, ha ha. any way we tried every thing possible to cure this colic and nothing helped so a friend recommeded dr browns bottles, i couldnt run fast enough to our local boots and bought a pack of 2 bottles, priced at £10.50. when i first tried my daughter with these at tea time when ...
...improvement straight away and so we bought more, and she started sleeping through the night at 7 weeks old, and the colic dissapeared within a week or so, GREAT!!!!. the bottle are a mild brown colour which looks a bit weird especially with the milk in, they have a special vent system which prevents air from being sucked in when baby is feeding, and the teats are lovely and soft not like the normal ones. cleaning these bottles can be a bit fiddley, ...

dr browns bottles ????

Advantages: great for wind and colic
Disadvantages: leak, scratch and to many parts to it

in my experience with dr browns bottles they are great for preventing wind and colic but they have a few down sides so are they worth the extra money are that the bottles leak if not upright and the milk comes up the tube and out of the bottles as you warm it up they get scratched easy and you can only steralise 2 bottles at a time as there are so many parts to each bottle. the bottles are quite wide so you cant fit 2 in a double thermal bag and ...

these bottles were amazing !!

Advantages: no teat colapsing , no colic which equals quiet nights!!!!
Disadvantages: pain to clean

i first came across these bottles with my cousins baby , he suffered with real bad colic which meant he was in pain and crying for most of the day and night ! my cousin tried everything including the doctors advice of infacol but nothing worked . out shopping one day we came across dr browns bottles and thought she might as well give them a go , within 24 hours of using them there was a vast improvement , they were like a little miricle ! shortly ...

Dr Browns are King!!!!!

Advantages: Help colic and reflux, like breastfeeding as no vacuum, value for money
Disadvantages: More components so more difficult to clean

These bottles are absolutely fantastic! My daughter has suffered very badly from trapped wind and also has severe reflux and these bottles have been a God-send. From the first time we used them, they made a huge difference and my daughter instantly became more settled. These bottles work on a positive pressure system rather than creating a vacuum, like most bottles. This means that babies feed as though they are breastfeeding, because they don't ...
...bottles are also good for breastfeeding mothers who wish to give top-ups or mix feed. On the down side, these bottles take a little while to get used to. They are fairly easy to put together but they do take longer to clean as there are more components and more nooks and crannies to get into but iit i definately worth the effort for the improvement you will see in your baby. They are also quite expensive, but again I think they are worth it. Spare ...
