Advantages: Taste good, well topped, nice and thin. Disadvantages: Slightly too big for one person, too small for two, and where is the nutritional info?
Most frozen pizzas have a lot to answer for.
I am pleased to say that I have been pleasantly surprised and impressed by this brand, and frankly, I only bought them because they were on offer at Iceland; a bargain at 99p each (normally £1.89, I believe).
I've tried two - a pepperoni version (pizza speciale) and a plain one (pizza mozzarella). Of the two I preferred the plain - unusual for me. They look quite posh really for frozen pizzas - I can't ... ...a frozen pizza, especally not for 99p.
I thought the mozzarella one had quite a sophisticated and delicate flavour, sorry if this sounds a little pretentious for a frozen pizza, but I guess they are trying to market them as a kind of prestige brand? The pepperoni one was similar, but with the familiar pepperoni taste which kind of masked all the other more subtle flavours. It was still nice though.
When I got it out of the packet I was dubious ...

...of the pizza. The red Dr. Oetker logo is at the top left, just to check you have the right pizza. Ristorante Pizza Mozzarella, it says on the front. So now you know how to identify a box of this pizza, what are my conclusions?
This pizza tastes great. Fact. Due to the thin base, there are no crusts as such, and you can eat the whole thing – great value. On the financial side of things, it is obviously better value when these are on offer, ... ...mind paying £1.98 for one – much better value than delivery. This filled me up reasonably well, but not completely and may be better suited to a starter to share or as an accompaniment, unless you are dieting. It tastes great, especially when hungry, and I would be happy if I was given this when visiting a friend (I wish!).
Availability is obviously a negative point, due to this brand not being stocked in some supermarket chains, although ...

After just eating one and having had it serveral times now I want to put my review to the test.
This Pizza was first advertised oin T.v about a year ago and I kept looking out for it all the time and could never spot it in our local supermarket.
Anyway I waited and waited and eventually they began stocking it. They also had it on offer in Tesco. It was 2 for £3 and normally it is £2.50 for one so thought gotta try it. They do two types. They do ... ...do one called Pizza Pollo. This is chicken, spinach, and mozzarella.
Personally I prefer the chicken one. I feel it is more unique and just tastes delicious. All his pizzas are thin and crispy and some people may not like this. I know some people prefer deep pan pizzas. if that is the case then this is not for you.
I am also pretty sure that Iceland sell them. Other than that I am not sure as I only ever shop at Tesco and Iceland. Iceland also ...

Advantages: Fresh tasting but frozen Disadvantages: See op.
The other day, as I entered the gaping jaws of my local ASDA store, I was greeted by a wonderful aroma eminating from somewhere within. Finally, having been followed my this delicious smell and just as I neared the checkout to pay, I spotted a ‘taster’ counter where they were handing out slices of freshly baked pizza. Now, normally, I avoid these like the plague (unless I have several ankle-biters in tow, then these freeby samples serve ... ...and the other ......’ moans and groans!). However, the aroma was so delicious that I found myself drifting over in that I’m-coming-over-here-to-look-at something-on-the-shelf-behind-you-and-not-for-a-handout-type saunters when the woman caught my gaze and held out a napkin with a large, piping hot, slice of pizza perched upon it.
It would have been mighty rude of me to have declined, lol, and so the orgasmic taste experience began, remember ...

Dr Oetker's is a German family firm, founded in 1891 originally producing baking powder. They began selling frozen pizzas in Germany in 1970 and brought the Ristorante range to the UK in 2002.
Varieties available:
Mozzarella
Speciale (Ham and Salami)
Pollo (chicken)
Hawaii (Ham and pineapple)
Funghi (mushroom)
Quatro Formaggi (four cheese)
Prosciutto (prociutto ham)
Usually I eat Pizzas in ... ...Dominos. I am not really a fan of shop bought pizzas finding the base sometimes has the taste and texture of soggy cardboard, and the toppings a bit stingy and never getting to the edge. A while back I tried Dr Oetker's Bistro range which were small lunchtime sized pizza baguettes, so upon my last visit to Sainsburys I purchased the Funghi Ristorante pizza from the freezer section. The pizza cooks in a fan oven for 10-11 minutes from frozen and retailed ...

Advantages: Delicious base and generous toppings Disadvantages: erm,, the box can be hard to navigate, not enough for two people
Dr Oetker is a strange man, a German doctor friend of mine who, rather than being consumed with the welfare of his patients, is obsessed with creating the perfect frozen pizza to stick his name on. Quite shallow I am sure you will agree but after tasting his recent masterpiece you will see that it was all worthwhile (and who wants to heal the sick all day).
I am sure you have seen the advert with the two people on the bridge scoffing the pizza like ... ...saying something like ' the italians eat pizza the italian way, yadda yadda yadda' a bit like those rubbish ferrero rocher adverts. The funny thing is the big letters on the bottom of the screen, MADE IN GERMANY!!!, you see the good doctor wants the new home of the pizza to be the motherland (his words not mine). ...friend suggested I try a Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante, which she assured me was like no other frozen pizza on the market.
My first pleasant surprise was the price. These pizzas are under two quid, and they’re big enough to fill a large dinner plate.
My local Sainsbury’s had three varieties in stock: the classic tomato and cheese, the bastardisation that is ham and pineapple, and a pepperoni variety. I chose the tomato and cheese, which looked delicious ... ...pizza.
Overall:
Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante is the best frozen pizza I have tried. It’s good value for money, quick to bake, and it tastes rather good.
However, it isn’t a patch on the real thing.
Against other frozen pizzas I give it 5 out of 5, but against a fresh pizza from an Italian restaurant it only manages a 3.
Not quite what the doctor ordered, but I will keep one in for those nights when I need something quickly and I’ve got pizza on my ...

It might be interesting to know that in 1891, Dr Oetker, a chemist
developed a baking powder in his laboratory , allowing the ladies of the day perfect baking results hence his breakthrough into the food market...On the other hand it might be better for me toshut up and talk about what the good doctor's famous for today..and that's his delicious frozen pizzas!

What I also noticed there is no nutritional information on the box. This might be because the product is German and their packaging usually doesn’t show nutritional information. I don’t know about other people but I tend to go through phases as to what I like to eat and sometimes there are ‘in things’ such as pizza.
Unfortunately I have had a long period of time when I have ‘gone off’ pizzas to such a degree that I would eat something different when making a snack ready for my children, so imagine my surprise when I saw in the frozen section in Tescos these Dr Oetker pizzas.

There were four different flavours on offer in the supermarket, but because I'm not keen on pineapple and ham. I did not buy that flavour.
I bought the pepperoni one, which is called pizza Speciale, the cheese one called pizza Quattro and two of the chicken ones called pizza Pollo.
All of the pizzas are thin crust and are obviously frozen. They come in a cardboard box and are wrapped in a cellophane type film.

Bought the aforementioned pizza in Morrisons today as it was on offer at £1.29 for 325 grammes, although there is a bigger version for piggies or sharing.
I bought it as a snack for the brat who visits me after school.

When you have removed the pizza from the box it looks a reasonable size for the money. It has seven rounds of mozzarella, a good dollop of herbs and a very light sprinkle of red peppers.
It was so thin, it was like juggling a paper hankie getting it in to the oven, but after a further read of the instructions it's supposed to be cooked from frozen and mine had totally defrosted, hence the wrestle to get it in the oven.

I really enjoy cooking, but having the most hectic life on the planet (actually who doesn't nowadays) I always like to keep some easy meals in the freezer. It was with this I mind when I discovered Dr Oetkers Ristorante frozen pizzas one day in Tesco's.

...time favourite frozen pizza.
Dr. Oetker Ristorante comes in 3 flavours, Mozzerela, Hawaiian and Speciale. The one I'm concentrating on is the Speciale, which is basically Salami, Ham and Mushrooms.
