Dreaming of sleep

Advantages: Safe, comfortable sleeping environment for baby
Disadvantages: takes training as arms are free

I have spent the last month or so in a permanent state of panic and worry over my little boys sleeping arrangements. Whilst pregant I read all about various ways of ensuring a contented happy baby and found out about baby sleeping bags and swaddling. For those of you who are not familiar with swaddling, it is basically wrapping your baby up in a sheet or blanket to form a cacoon. The idea being that your baby feels safe and secure, after all it has ...
...time. In hospital, the midwives also encouraged the practice of swaddling and so my little boy was wrapped up and to be honest slept fairly well. The thing is, when babies are first born their hands and arms flap about a fair bit and they can't control them, it was this action which prevented my boy from going to sleep and so swaddling him.. in effect restraining him meant that he could sleep soundly and undisturbed, The sleeping bag I had bought ...

...bought a Mamas & Papas dreampod to match the nursery decor (Roundabout boys). I didn't really take into account the features of the sleeping bag, it was bought purely to co-ordinate! Having used it now for 2 months (the bag in question being 0 to 6 months, 1 tog rating), I can honestly say it has been a godsend! My little boy wriggles & rolls around in his cot - he ends up all over the place! - & I honestly don't know how I would keep blankets over ...
...doesn't need to be removed for night changes - simply unzip the bag for ease of access. Compared to such as the Grobag versions, the M&P bag has a larger neck opening which makes it much easier to put on. I have already been & bought the next size up (6 to 18 months) because I don't plan to even attempt sheets & blankets in the near future!
