Will the Tories also be drunk on car taxes? Review with images

AdvantagesRevenue

DisadvantagesRevenue chasing

"...11 people are killed by drink drivers on Britain's roads and streets every week. But the human rights lawyers have made the news again and failed to deport an Iraqi guy who accidentally ran down a little girl and fled from the scene, the poor lass dieing soon after. After doing 4 months its unclear if his lawyers made it clear to him after the trial that is he was to marry an English girl and have kids he could not be deported but that proved the ..." Don't do it

AdvantagesThere are none

DisadvantagesPlease just read the op

"Today at work has not been the most pleasant of ones, which is putting it mildly. Yesterday, there was a major road accident. I heard about it as I was leaving work. The managers at the hospital were asking us to be ready to take admissions from other wards so that they in turn would be able to take immediate Trauma admissions should the need arise. When I arrived at work this morning I was half expecting a deluge of paperwork to greet me as a ..." Read review

One license to kill please, barman

AdvantagesNone.

DisadvantagesInjuring, killing or maiming innocent people.

"...his retirement. Your one extra drink has put paid to the days of leisure he'd been dreaming of all his life. They could be anybody, but you drinking and driving puts every car passenger at risk. People who could have lived and loved, who leave behind families who will grieve for the rest of their lives. Just one more swig of alcohol, and it will be all your fault. That one extra drink could turn you into a murderer. Being drunk does not mean ..." Read review

My story

Advantageswhy is this box here?

Disadvantagesdeath and destruction

"My gran was a wonderful lady and even at eighty two years old she was very independant and led a full and happy life. She had started to show signs of senile dementia but nothing advanced and she still lived by herself in her flat. Why am I telling you about her? Well five years ago she was crossing the road and was knocked down by a drunk driver on the way home from an all weekend drinking session. She was on her way to church on the ..." Read review

Go Ahead and Do It

Advantagesnone

Disadvantagesthe consequences

"Sure, go ahead and drink a few, then go for a drive. No, really, go to the pub now (if it is open) or go downstairs and open a few cans/bottles, swig them down quick then find the car keys. Do this if you want to be a danger to yourself, other drivers and society in general. I know it was not right of me to tell people that at the beginning, but knowing that this is such a big issue, especially at the moment, I am sure everyone is reading this ..." Read review

GO ON JUST ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD

Advantagesnone

DisadvantagesPeoples lives

"...you this? We all like a drink or two but what do you do if you are driving, you know the scene you pop to the pub in the car with a friend just for one drink, more friends appear, and you get another drink, then of course you feel like more, they automatically presume you want a drink and you feel embarrassed to be a party pooper and say no I’m driving. So one drink ends up as 3 or 4. Well you feel all right so you drive home………… Sound ..." Read review

Drunk in charge...

AdvantagesNone.

DisadvantagesEverything.

"...very much rather, will not drink alcohol I must point out! I must also state that during the course of this review, I am actually in fact going to be writing things based on my own experiences of what I have seen in the area in which I live. And so therefore, I will apologise now if there is anything that you don’t agree with which may of course be very different in your own personal experiences (which is fine by me). This is something that ..." Read review

Lock them up and throw away the key

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesToo many

"Drink driving is a crime and offenders should be locked up and the key thrown away. If they are lucky, they will get caught and receive a ban, worst case scenario is they will seriously injure, maim or kill someone and still receive a ban. If that affects anyone reading this (and judging by the strength of feeling on Ciao I doubt it) how can you live with yourself. From where I am sitting, if someone can afford to go out and get absolutely hammered, ..." Read review

Use you head not the one on your pint

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesToo many victims are injured or even killed

"Drink driving is a major problem all over the country and in other countries. There is no excuse for it but yet after all the campaigns to help the fight against drink driving it still goes on. Just the other morning I was out taking the children to school and had my two little ones in my tandem. After walking for a little over a minute I heard the screams of a fire engines siren and was heading my way. I thought that some one house was on fire ..." Read review

Only a selfish idiot would do it

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesKills, you and others

"...dead? That is the reality of drink driving, one drink, your reaction times are slowed and bang your dead and so are other people. Think about it, one drink will hurt and it kills, not just you the drinker, but innocent people minding their own business. Forget the convenience of driving to the pub, if you drive you do not drink. If you know somebody with you is driving, you do not pressure them into drinking. The consequences are too serious. So ..." Read review

A question of judgement

Advantagesdrinking is a great way to relax with friends

Disadvantagescan be lethal if mixed with driving

"...better driver having had a drink as he knew his judgement would be impaired so concentrated extra hard. Fortunately we were both travelling a bus at the time. How can you tell whether your judgement has been impaired when you’re drinking a substance which impairs judgement? I can attest to this, having decided to take a lift home after a night out drinking with someone else who had been drinking. Fortunately we didn’t have an accident, ..." Read review

Have a drink , have a drive......

AdvantagesNONE

Disadvantageswrecks lives and peoples futres

"...there is a debate about drink driving!! I know that they say "its ok to have a sociable drink- about 1 pint, and then its safe to drive" NOT TRUE!! Alcohol has different effects on different people at different times of the day. In my wild youth I once had a lunchtime pint with a girlfriend, then like a fool , got into the car and drove 5 miles back to her flat! I felt the whole time that the car was floating on the road, now usually ..." Read review

Death By A Drunk Driver Is Murder Fair And Square

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesInnocents are usually the victims

"...being people other than the drink drivers themselves. In addition to this, around 1000 people per month injured, and around half of these casualties are also people other than the drink drivers themselves. ~~~ When you have consumed alcohol the brain works inefficiently. It takes longer to process information and receive messages from the eye. Also instructions to the muscles are delayed. It reduces the ability to be able to perform two tasks ..." Read review

Fools will always do it

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesDangerous.

"...has been accepted. Kids drink and go joyriding - it was just a childish prank. Your buddy downed his 15th pint and you`d laugh at the fact that he could barely make it to the door, yet you let him get into his car to drive a mile or so home from the pub. Times have changed. There's more traffic on the roads, people drive faster, alcohol is more potent ... the concoction is endless, a timebomb waiting to happen. And happen it does with all the more ..." Read review

FIGHT TO STOP THIS CANCER

Advantagesobviously none!

Disadvantagesthe loss of lives

"It’s not Christmas, so you don’t see too many campaigns from the government tying to reduce the number drink-driver incidents! I still can’t work out why this is only an important issue at Christmas. Surely it’s worthy of year round campaigning? I have noticed some ciao users referring to studies proving that any amount of alcohol in the bloodstream has an impact of your reactions. I know not whether this is true. But is ..." Read review
