Advantages: Much better than the last driver game. Modable cars. Disadvantages: Quite a short game, hard to drive as the roads are packed with traffic.
...which then brings use to Driver: Parallel Lines the fourth game in series.

Advantages: graphics career weapons car choice Disadvantages: bad gameplay on the whole quite unrealistic at times no multiplayer
***this review first appeared on dooyoo.co.uk***
Personally, I was disappointed when I first played the new Driver. Atari had obviously seen the success of GTA San Andreas and tried to model the game around that. All the features that made Driver games what they were are gone. They are all repaced with a lame replica of Grand Theft Auto games. Almost all of the typical features of the Driver series have disappeared. On the other hand, Driver 4 does ... ...reconstruction of New York. The graphics are not only good on the cars, but the surroundings as well. The car choice also boasts a good range. Since the career of the game is set in 2 timezones (1978/now), the game allows you to switch between them in free roam. Meaning that the car choice doubles when you switch between them. The range of weapons on offer is good on the whole, although there are some exceptions. In terms of the career, the main ...

Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: Very Little | Onfoot isn't the best but the game isn't based on onfoot action.
I have owned Driver: Parallel Lines for quite some time and one of the amazing things is that I have continued playing it ever since it's release.
It's an amazing game and it's worth a shot especially if you have the money in hand.
The graphics are great, the game is awesome and the story is grabbing, everything you need in a game and in this case this game is often referred as a interactive movie.

Advantages: Modable cars, good graphics Disadvantages: quite a short game
recently purchased DRIVER Parallel lines for the PS2 for 13 quid I had my eye on it for a while but i dont like paying 30 odd quid for a game id rather wait a bit and save some cash : )
Parallel lines is alot better then previous Driver games and has some new features such as modable cars a various garages and a duel era. The game starts in New York in the 1970's you play a young hot shot criminal who is just a little green, About half of the game ... ...give much away but you end up taking the rap for a kidnapping leaving you serving 20 odd years in prison. When you get out you only have revenge on your mind and you have a hitlist of the people who are responsible for your incarseration working your way down the list dosent take long and before you know it you have compleated the game.
The only problem i have with this game is the fact that its quite short. On the plus side though the game has ...

Advantages: It can be fun at times and is maybe worth a rent. Disadvantages: Compared to GTA this is a poor knock off
Much was expected when Driver : Parallel lines was released as before GTA hit the PS2 , this was the precursor on the old PSX to all the Grand Theft series. At the time it was cutting edge but to see how far their fall from the grace of originiality is, is quite sad. This is a very cheap knock off of Grand Theft Auto 3 and in comparison it's paler than the Grim Reaper in winter! The story is that you were once a buddng young racer but entangled in ... ...looking for revenge. Gameplay is shaky at best and awkward at worst. The Graphics are ok but not up to standard with similar PS2 titles and the missions offer very little in the way of an intriguing storyline. If i'm forced to say one good point of Driver though is in the failure of a mission , you only have to tap the button to retry the mission whereas in the GTA games you have to go right back to hospital or police station and find the mission ...

Advantages: The fact that the game is focused slightly more on the driving aspects, The amount of cars you can ride, race and mod, the size of the city Disadvantages: The controls can be easily forgotten and fiddly to use at times. Thrill Cam has been placed on down on the D pad so it might get in the way some times.Very fustrating if you're trying to get away from someone. The cops are hard to get off your back
Driver: Parallel Lines takes the series back to it's roots and is focused more on driving. So, the plot. The game is set between 1978 and the present day. You take control of TK, a wannabe gangster who's looking for fun and meets up with a gang with a wicked plan. Unfortunately for TK, this plan goes terribly wrong for him and he ends up in jail. In 2006, he needs to settle a score. The mission after mission of the previous installments has been ... ...style approach. The city of New York looks great and veichles, buildings etc will differ between the two time periods. The best elements from the 3 previous installments have been reworked and put back together to make a great mix of violence, driving and exploration. Still, one thing that doesn't change is the fact that you'll be spending most of your time getting away from the cops. If you are quick and clever enough, you can change your veichle ...
