4 Stars A Vacuum That's on the Ball Review with images 20/02/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Very light and easy to move about, compact due to retractable handle

Disadvantages Disadvantages Short cord, smaller dust canister, small telescopic hose. And yes, it's expensive

When I moved house last year I left behind my little Panasonic vacuum cleaner which I had bought purely for cleaning the stairs. As I was downsizing considerably I couldn't really justify keeping it and I felt the new buyer of my old home would appreciate something which had been bought purely with that house in mind. What I had forgotten however is how heavy my Dyson DC04 is. I've had this vacuum for over 7 years now and it's been a veritable workhorse for me. I love it except for one thing - the weight of it. As I get older I find it more and more of a chore to carry it up and down stairs ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of useful design features, light and powerful, long guarantee

Disadvantages Disadvantages My hair still beats it on occasion

Getting my house ready to rent out for a year while I'm away had me doing all sorts of things I wouldn't normally bother with. Like cleaning, for one. You might think it strange that someone who cares so little for housework would bother investing in a £200 vacuum, but that's precisely why I did: after 3 vacuums in as many years, I was getting frustrated with cheap things breaking on me, and it was made all the more annoying by the fact that hoovering up was never something I enjoyed. I bought a Dyson Ball in 2008. At the time they were fairly new out and there were lots of offers on - I got a ... more

    5 Stars What a sucker! 10/04/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Works brilliantly, lightweight, compact, easy to steer and use, washable filters, easy to empty

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite expensive, would not suit larger houses due to the smaller cylinder

A couple of months ago came the momentous occasion where I had to buy my first ever hoover/vacuum cleaner. Having moved into my flat and been convinced that I had brought all of the necessary furniture etc I quickly realised that I was lacking the ability to clean! I have used various vacuum cleaners over the last few years and the only type that has ever really impressed me has been Dysons. Having decided that Dyson was the way to go I had a quick look on the Argos website. I was actually shocked by the various different types, sizes, models etc of Dyson and didn’t really know where to begin ... more

Advantages Advantages good for pet hairs, ball mechanism

Disadvantages Disadvantages ugly, loud, no auto-recoil

My mother lives on a farm, and she has a stinking black labrador and two cats in and out of the house all day. So it follows that she needs a very good hoover, in order for the house to not need a visit from Kim and Aggie! I don't mean to be mean about the dog, but she does reek quite badly, mainly due to the fact that she likes to roll in stagnant pondwater and snuffle about in cow poo. She has a great life, but drops particles of dirt everywhere she goes. Especially when she comes in (just when you've cleaned up) and shakes malodourous grit and hairs all over the carpets. Its disgusting, and ... more

Advantages Advantages Lightweight, Small, Quality Performance, Adjustable Brushes

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy, Short Cable

It took a marriage proposal for the gifts given to me by friends and family to instantly change over night from items that were purely for my enjoyment to those that were practical gifts for our new home. This vacuum cleaner is a good example of the latter; however it has been a very practical gift for which I am now extremely grateful looking back. The Dyson DC24 is a great example of Dyson technology, which for those who have not tried before is a reliable and reputable company who churn out stylish and practical products time and time again. This product is a very lightweight and small ... more

    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Lightweight, great suction

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bin capacity too small

Having put up with a very old Electrolux vacuum for about 5 years, which had been given to us by a kind family member, and the poor thing eventually blowing up just before Christmas, I was getting a lot of grief from my wife about buying a new vacuum cleaner, one which would be able pick up all the little bits of fluff from our very hairy moggie (see profile pic), and one that could manage to get all the regular dust, crumbs, clothing fibres etc etc from our Carpet, which the old vacuum had always struggled with. I had suffered quite badly from eczema for a couple of years when we first moved ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, works well, ball's great

Disadvantages Disadvantages do i want to see all the dust inside?

The Dyson I remember when Dyson's first came out I complained of them being too heavy and that they would never catch on. The idea of a bagless vaccum cleaner just seemed really silly in my eyes but now here we are with the Dyson taking over and with there being a wide variety of them to choose from now it seems like the Dyson is here to stay! Ball action This Dyson looks just like any other standard Dyson at first glance but then when you actually look closer you see that there is a big yellow ball at it's foot. This ball gives this vacuum cleaner the ability to pivot whilst you are pushing ... more

Advantages Advantages Compact and light, easy of assemble and use

Disadvantages Disadvantages not long enough hose for stairs, strange motorised brush design

Price: I bought this for £181 from Kitchen Science (sister company of LASKYS) last month after a price challenge because Tesco was selling it at £179 but with £5 delivery charge if not collect from local store. The original price was £189 inclusive of delivery (quite competitive already). Today it has gone up, £205 inclusive of delivery from Kitchen Science! I could not believe it! Other competitor including its sister company has put the price back up to £210 including Tesco and John Lewis was selling it for £179 (out of stock then) and now £244 for exactly the same model! I am wondering what ... more

    5 Stars Dyson Darling 18/07/2012
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Powerful and light

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs frequent emptying

This is my second Dyson vacuum cleaner and I doubt I will ever buy another brand, I am that pleased with the products. My original one is still going strong, I gave it away when I moved overseas not expecting to come back to the UK. The Dyson ball vacuum is a curious looking object, all in yellow and grey, it looks a bit alien. The parts are all made of very sturdy plastic, most of them come apart following little diagrams located on the machine, and a lot of them you can purchase from Dyson and replace yourself. The ‘ball’ has been heavily advertised and means the vacuum can be manoeuvred ... more

    Advantages Advantages easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages falls over!

I am forever having to get the vacuum out and hoover up all the bits of ground up rusks and bits of dirt the babies manage to accumulate and I was fed up of dragging around a heavy cumbersome hoover around the house and so I treated myself to this dyson... what a treat! Long gone are the days where a treat would be a dvd or a night out! I bought it from curry's for £200 and I think it was a good spend. This dyson has a ball which is uses to navigate its way round. This makes it much easier to get around the carpets as it can swivel 360 degrees with ease. At first when I plugged it in and had a ... more
