    Advantages Advantages Bagless, powerful

Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy, bullky and hard work

This has been our family vaccuum cleaner for around 10 years now although it has almost been replaced on occasion due to either faults or the appearance of a fancy new model that took dad’s eye but was swiftly rejected by mum. Whilst at home we share the vacuuming “equally”, and so I have had plenty of experience using it. The extra appeal when buying this product was the fact that it claimed to be particularly good for getting rid of allergens. It was also our first bagless vac so this at the time of buying was pretty exciting. I can’t remember what it cost us at the time of buying and to be ... more

Advantages Advantages Design lives up to its promise.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Price.

When you have animals in the house, one thing that you need in order to make your house smell fresh and clean is a good system of cleaning, and when I looked into which Hoover to buy, I kept being drawn to the Dyson, a little because of the advertising, and a little because of the design, though I have to admit when I parted with my £195, I was a little afraid that the Dyson would not live up to its promises, and that I would be stuck with a gadget that looked pretty rather than an effective cleaning system. CLAIMS MADE BY THE MANUFACTURER. The Manufacturer claims to have invented Cyclone ... more

    Advantages Advantages Superb suction

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very pricey

My love affair with the Dyson vacuum began many years ago when as a poor student I spent my summer holidays working as a cleaner in an old folks' home. In those dark days, the Dyson cleaner was the only ray of light in my otherwise gloomy days of dusters, dishes, toilet cleaner and mops. Now, anyone who has ever visited my flat, been in my car or even seen my desk at work for that matter, will know that I'm not the world's tidiest person and might express surprise that I would ever have received remuneration for my cleaning abilities! Although cleaning didn't turn out to be the career for me ... more

Advantages Advantages Funky looking, powerful, and suitable for all floor types

Disadvantages Disadvantages Do you really want to be looking at all the dust you've picked up off your floor?

'Upright cleaners are best suited to carpets and cylinder cleaners are better for hard floors'. Yes, good advice, but I have hard floors, carpets and rugs, and was getting sick of storing two vacuum cleaners. I just don't have the space. I struggled for ages, using my old upright Dyson to do my carpeted rooms, then using my little cylinder cleaner to clean the laminate floors in my other rooms, and it was becoming madness. So, after doing a bit of research, I found this model... Ok, so the rotating brush on the upright cleaner is what makes them so efficient at picking up the dust from carpets ... more

Advantages Advantages excellent suction and power, clear bin so you don't lose stuff, you don't have to buy new filters, vast array of attachments

Disadvantages Disadvantages array of attachments initially offputting, attachment for hoovering the cat not yet invented

I've had two cats and a crap hoover for far too long. Well, nine months. Nine months of hoovering a carpet with just the sucky tube of the hoover on my hands and knees, and still the cat hair clung fast. I decided it was time to make a change: and so I went straight to the fridge, where we write our major purchases in magnetic fridge letters: a list that makes us concentrate on saving a little bit extra to get what we really want. And there it sat, for about four months: "DYSON". "Hoover" is a word that is rapidly vanishing from my vocabulary. Normally when I make a decision to buy something ... more

Dyson DC08 Origin Dark Steel/Yellow Cylinder Cleaner. ---------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ------------ ----------- As far as luck with household electricals go with me it is all or nothing at all as when one seems to come to the end of its life cycle all the others soon follow in its footsteps. Any way that is my little moan out of the way, back to the reviewing. I recently found myself having to replace my old vacuum cleaner when it reached retirement age and after searching through all the many makes and models with varied features I decided to go for the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Design, suction

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any

I bought my Dyson 2 years ago, at that time it costs £250 and I felt it was money well spent. First of all, I live in a flat which, for good or bad, is fairly big and was, until recently, carpeted throughout. This basically means that there is a lot of hoovering to do. A few years ago, I decided to swap my old carpet - lovely pink - to a new one and made the awful mistake to get a dark blue carpet which means that EVERY specs of dust can be seen a mile out. Therefore a lot of hoovering to do. My flat is quite close to the sea, and all year round you would see me strolling by the sea front and ... more

Advantages Advantages It's easy to use and works brilliantly

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit of a pain for use on Stairs

As the title suggests, this is exactly what I said to my partner, ‘If we split, I get custody of the Dyson’. Now being a lady with 3 cats, 1 dog and 2 children vacuuming shouldn’t be a favourite past time. In fact it never was, till the day my faithful vacuum cleaner died and my partner suggested getting a Dyson like his mum has. So, there was me thinking, ‘They can’t be ‘That’ good’. But yes, oh yes, they really are. The advantages of a Dyson, especially the DC08 HEPA Cylinder Cleaner are numerous. Firstly, it’s bag less. Yes, no more changing the bag! No more looking for replacement bags and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cleans brilliantly

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit cumbersome

I swore I’d never buy a Dyson. Not at that price. How good could a vacuum be to warrant such a whopping monetary difference? No matter what I read, or how good people told me a Dyson was, I didn’t believe the price could possibly be justified. A classic case of paying for the name. But then 6 months ago yet another vacuum cleaner broke on me after not much use and I decided to face the ‘told you so’s’ and splash out. After a lot of reading, researching and online price comparisons, I decided on the DC08 Animal cylinder model. I thought that maybe it was the cat hairs that had buggered my ... more

Advantages Advantages amazing cleaning machine. no competition

Disadvantages Disadvantages tool holder loose, no on/off on handle

To those who know me, the fact I know where the vacuum lives, let alone being willing to write a review of one should give a clue that I either was amazed or totally disgusted by this product. Well, I was totally blown away the first time I used it. First thing... it's expensive. We'd bought (and returned, and returned the return) a cheaper (about a third of the price) look-alike which was poorly built and frankly didn't work, and out of sheer frustration decided to spend quite a bit more than the planned budget. To balance the initial purchase cost (which by the way is totally worth it) ... more
