...a little afraid that the Dyson would not live up to its promises, and that I would be stuck with a gadget that looked pretty rather than an effective cleaning system.
CLAIMS MADE BY THE MANUFACTURER.
The Manufacturer claims to have invented Cyclone technology which sounds very fancy, but what in fact does this mean to the average housewife ?
It meant nothing to me when I bought the machine. They were empty words. Cyclone technology is supposed ... ...particles into a pile. The Dyson has a small suction hole at the front of the machine which picks up any particles that may accidentally have been pushed forward by the machine. This is extremely useful and more important than other design features, as I know that my cleaning is effective right to the edges.
NEVER HAVING TO BUY FILTERS
Now this was a big plus. I do not know the readers experience of hoovers, although I would imagine that most people ...

My love affair with the Dyson vacuum began many years ago when as a poor student I spent my summer holidays working as a cleaner in an old folks' home. In those dark days, the Dyson cleaner was the only ray of light in my otherwise gloomy days of dusters, dishes, toilet cleaner and mops. Now, anyone who has ever visited my flat, been in my car or even seen my desk at work for that matter, will know that I'm not the world's tidiest person and might ... ...a lifelong affiliation to the Dyson vacuum cleaner. The Dyson I used when employed as a cleaner was the original yellow upright Dyson. So impressed was I with its cleaning ability and most importantly, the ability it gave me to actually see the dirt as it was picked up, that as soon as I could afford to buy one, I went out to buy a Dyson all of my very own. And what a joyous day that was!
In case there is anyone out there (I do pity you!) who is ...

It's purple where the turqoise is, and silver where the blue is. The cheapest price I could get was £257.99 from www.electricaldiscountuk.co.uk. If you find it cheaper elsewhere, don't tell me!! Dyson DC08 Origin Dark Steel/Yellow Cylinder Cleaner.
---------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ------------ -----------
As far as luck with household electricals go with me it is all or nothing at all as when one seems to come to the end of its life cycle all the others soon follow in its footsteps. Any way that is my little moan out of the way, back to the reviewing.
I recently found myself having to replace my old ... ...decided to go for the Dyson DC08 Origin Dark Steel/Yellow Cylinder Cleaner. The reason for my choice is that I have heard Dyson are top quality and I needed a good cleaner due to having asthma and a very furry dog.
After then browsing through the various retailers of this model I found myself purchasing it from Argos as it was on offer from £199.99 down to £174.99 and still is if anyone want one, so hurry. (I should be on commission from Argos.)

Advantages: Design, suction Disadvantages: Can't think of any
I bought my Dyson 2 years ago, at that time it costs £250 and I felt it was money well spent.
First of all, I live in a flat which, for good or bad, is fairly big and was, until recently, carpeted throughout. This basically means that there is a lot of hoovering to do.
A few years ago, I decided to swap my old carpet - lovely pink - to a new one and made the awful mistake to get a dark blue carpet which means that EVERY specs of dust can be seen ... ...in order to use your Dyson to the best of its ability, hoovering with a Dyson is a complete different exercise than a normal hoover. Thanks to the amount of suction and the wheels at the base of the head, you glide your unit instead of pushing it down. It is an effortless exercise.
Best of all, the Beast climbs stairs !! Thanks to its design and weight - approx. 10 kg (20lb) - it is easy enough to pull it behind you as you climb the stairs, it will ...

...my partner suggested getting a Dyson like his mum has. So, there was me thinking, ‘They can’t be ‘That’ good’. But yes, oh yes, they really are. The advantages of a Dyson, especially the DC08 HEPA Cylinder Cleaner are numerous.
Firstly, it’s bag less. Yes, no more changing the bag! No more looking for replacement bags and having a nightmare trying to find them. This saves money no end. Especially if (Like me), you do have animals and pet hair is ... ...and without a problem.
Thirdly, Dyson Root Cyclone™ advanced technology. As you may or may not have seen in the adverts for these fantastic products, the Cyclone Technology for this product is amazing to say the least (I must sound obsessed!). Ok, here’s how it works (Thanks to Dyson.co.uk for this information)…
1. By making the air stream spin, dirt and debris are subjected to centrifugal force. The dirt and debris are thrown out of the air.

...good people told me a Dyson was, I didn’t believe the price could possibly be justified. A classic case of paying for the name.
But then 6 months ago yet another vacuum cleaner broke on me after not much use and I decided to face the ‘told you so’s’ and splash out.

In the end, I can’t decide whether or not the Dyson is worth the money. It is certainly worth more money than other vacuums, but the gap is so large I find it hard to justify. Also, the standard brushes are so good and do pick up so much animal hair that I don’t think it’s worth paying the extra £40 for the Animal attachments.
That said, cleaning performance is as I said the most important ...

To those who know me, the fact I know where the vacuum lives, let alone being willing to write a review of one should give a clue that I either was amazed or totally disgusted by this product.
Well, I was totally blown away the first time I used it.

To balance the initial purchase cost (which by the way is totally worth it), there are no other supplies needed - there are no bags to replace, and the one filter that does need attention is a simple shake out and rinse when it gets clogged !

The Dyson brand is a very well know brand when it comes to vacuum cleaners and a few people I know have them and swear by them. The downside of this power is that if you have any loose rugs/carpets/lino you will not be able to move the machine very easily as it will literally stick itself to the floor! ...been thinking about buying a Dyson for some time, but had been put off in the past at the thought of spending a lot of money on a vacuum cleaner. Advantages: best ever suction, on-board tool storage, no dust bag Disadvantages: telescopic hose feels flimsy and bulky
I was a Dyson virgin until last month when my trusty Henry's nose kept falling off so I bit the bullet and decided to pay the £229 for the DC08 telescopic. What attracted to me about Dyson was, to be honest, being able to see my own dirt - errh! but wholly satisfying. Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating and i can honestly say that suction wise I have never had anything like it.
