Advantages: Extremely powerful, never seems to lose suction, well designed to reach the most diffcult of places, quiet, has a 24ft lead, really good looking.
Disadvantages: Could use a little more tank space, unretractable lead

...I decided upon a new Dyson DC18. The reason I bought this model is that I had heard a lot of good things about it from friends of mine, add to that the fact that it's a Dyson, a trustworthy brand with a good reputation and I was in no way about to resist despite the rather hefty price tag. Vacuuming is a secret hobby of mine. There's just something about it that I find fascinating. My wife usually complains, but I can't get enough of pushing that big piece of equipment around. Advantages: Lightweight, ease of use, washeable filters.
Disadvantages: No retractable cord. Minor concern over durability.

Having been a satisfied Dyson customer for many years, when my first one finally died, I quite naturally replaced it with another. A fan of the compact cylinder types, I did not initially consider an upright until it was demonstrated at a store. This thing is lightweight (6.5kg), extremely manoeverable, adapts to many different floor surfaces, and is very powerful.
