    Advantages Advantages Repeats

Disadvantages Disadvantages Repeated repeats of repeats

Is there life after Big brother? That’s the question. What does E4 have to offer the viewers to replace the 18 hour a day coverage of Big Brother? If you like dating shows, or feel you didn’t see enough of Davina McCall during BB, there’s Streetmate. Davina drags some poor person out and about trawling the streets, pubs, and shops, until they see someone they fancy (or someone Davina decides they might fancy). If that person agrees to it, they go on a date. Then, in the way of tacky American dating shows you have Cupid Confidential. Two ’guys’ are set up on a ... more

5 Stars EEEEEEEEE by 'eck, it's ruddy good! Review with images 12/07/2008

Advantages Advantages Good telly. Many American imports. First Look at shows before they get to Channel4

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite a lot of the same repeats

E4 was launched way back in 2001. It was one of the first of Channel4's sister channels to be found on satellite/cable as a subscription service. E stands for Entertainment and that is exactly what this channel claims to do, Entertain. In 2004, E4 joined the subscription service 'Top UP TV' and then a year later in 2005, it became free, joining 'Freeview'. It's full of American TV shows, mainly from US giants 'NBC' and 'ABC'. If you like 'FRIENDS', you can find it on there almost everyday. Other shows that can be found there are 'Scrubs', 'Desperate Housewives', 'My Name is Earl', 'Smallville' ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages too many repeats for some

I don’t know what’s happened to me of late – my last op was on a tv guide, now I’m writing about a TV channel – and an entertainment one at that! I could excuse it by saying that after all that study, I need to get my mind balanced again, and so vegging out in front of the TV is the way to do it! E4 is a digital and digital satellite channel which is closely related to the more familiar Channel 4. The E in this case stands for entertainment, which is what E4 is all about – nothing really serious, hard-hitting or educational is to be found on here! Some ... more

Advantages Advantages They show a lot of the best programmes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor picture quality, just another case of being ripped-off

A couple months ago, a new channel was launched on my Telewest Cable Package, the channel was E4, now not that I think the channel is poor or anything, but was it really needed, it is just basically just another way the television companies luring us all on to Satellite, Digital and Cable and getting more cash out of us, as the channel is unavailable on Terrestrial television. I myself have Cable, so it doesn’t actually cost me anymore money than I am currently paying (whether this will change no-one knows), but the thing is, what about all the people who do not currently subscribe to ... more

Advantages Advantages The best of Channel 4 on one channel

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too much Big Brother coverage, if you think that that is a bad thing

Big Brother is the voyeurs paradise. We get to watch the antics of 10 people in a controlled environment over a nine weeks period. This review isn't so much about Big Brother itself, but is more about the coverage of it on Channel 4's new entertainment channel E4, available of Digital services (such as Sky Digital and ONDigital). I'm going to start off with E4's coverage of Big Brother, then I'll look at E4 a bit more closely. The nation has gone Big Brother mad once again. Last time round we had the usual highlights show on Channel 4 every evening, and for those of us who could be bothered ... more

Advantages Advantages new shows before terrestrial tv

Disadvantages Disadvantages frequent repeats, long ad breaks

After managing to pick up a basic OnDigital subscription quite cheaply I chose this channel for a few main reasons. The primary being that the female mebers of my family love Friends and so do I to an extent. This is just one of the shows that can be seen way before it's shown on Channel 4 and for once it can't be seen on Sky one. Other programmes that recieve this privelige are ER and Trigger Happy TV so if you're a fan then this is what you need for your fix. E4 is still in it's infancy and is broadcast from 4pm to 4am everyday. The rest of it's programme contact is very mixed. Quite a lot ... more

Advantages Advantages Great programs shown before Channel 4, New talent highlighted

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only on-air for approximately 7 hours a day

E4, Launched only a few months ago, is Channel 4's 'sister station' (Sky Digital, channel 205) has become one of the most popular entertainment channels available on digital television. Launching in a blaze of glory, the unique selling point of E4 was that it offers entertainment programs before they are shown on channel 4. These include, among many others Popworld (a pop music magazine), Banzai (a spoof Japanese betting program), Friends (very successful American sitcom), Trigger Happy TV (hilarious comedy sketch show), and even Big Brother's Little Brother (an extension to Big Brother). Advantages Advantages Some good shows

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too much Big Brother, not enough of the promised quality tv

E4 is the relatively new digital channel brought to our screens by these nice people at Channel 4. Channel 4 has of late established itself as one of the major channels, with numerous popular series including “Friends”, “South Park”, “Frasier”, “Trigger Happy TV”, the widely acclaimed “Big Brother” (love it or hate it, there’s no in-between!), and many other programmes. E4 was billed as basically being all the best bits of Channel 4, however from what I have seen of the channel, this would be a more optimistic review of ... more

Advantages Advantages great shows, lots of first-shows

Disadvantages Disadvantages some of the entertainment progs are a bit dodgy

Digital TV is a peculiar place. Whether it’s that omnipresent perma-tanned nasal American flogging exercise pads or Michaela Strachan dodging jerky flying graphics whilst simultaneously trying to flog us a CD containing sub-Fleetwood Mac drive-time drivel, you can’t help but feel slightly uncomfortable when watching the majority of the output on the small screen beyond channel 106. However, one jewel in the digital crown is E4, the Digital offshoot of the independent public-service company Channel 4 Television. Aimed at 16-30 year olds (the ‘cool’ demographic allegedly) ... more

Advantages Advantages excellent programme, 18 hours a day live coverage on E4

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no sleep!!

E4 is a relatively new channel available for digital subscribers. I first noticed it when they showed Eminem's concert. They also show a lot of programmes I don't care much for, such as Trigger Happy TV, Ally McBeal and Sex In The City, but what I want to concentrate on in this opinion is Big Brother. I have asked Ciao to put Big Brother in the E4 category, but so far, no luck. Anyway, as 18 hours a day are currently being devoted to coverage of the Big Brother house at the moment, it is pretty fair to say that E4 IS Big Brother for the next couple of months! So here's my opinion on the second ... more
