Disadvantages Disadvantages Put my direct debit down too far

I realise that utility companies do not make the most interesting of subjects to review but I felt the need to do one on EDF energy as I have recently had a couple of good customer service experiences with them. It may seem like simple things that they have done but it is nice to know that one of the big 6 energy companies appears to want to offer their customers a good service. Who are EDF Energy? EDF Energy were created in 2002 when the French energy company bought over Seeboard, London Energy and SWEB energy. EDF Energy are one of the so called big 6 energy companies which also includes ... more

Like most people, we've been feeling the pinch of the soaring gas and electricity prices. I tend to procrastrinate and leave things, but even I had to act when Southern Electric put their prices up by 19%. As you've probably guessed, we switched to EDF, hence this review. Who are EDF? EDF stands for Electricite de France, a French company that bought London Energy, Seeboard Energy and SWEB Energy, making them suppliers of energy to people living in Southern England. They are quite "green" in that they are one of the largest developers of off-shore wind-farms in the UK, and of course they ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Prices, Variable Tarifs Offered, Great Customer Services

Disadvantages Disadvantages I have experienced none to date.

I can't speak highly enough of EDF Energy. Firstly let me emphasize that I am not an employee of EDF and have absolutely no connection (if you excuse the pun) with them whatsoever apart from being a domestic user of their energy. They have been my supplier for both Gas and Electricity in the last two properties that I have lived in. What are their good points then? 1. I have found them to be competitive on price with them in general being near the top of the best prices list at any given point in time. Of course this varies and energy suppliers don't all adjust their prices at the same time as ... more

Advantages Advantages Good customer service, online bills, plenty of nectar points

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Price increases

I notice no-one has reviewed EDF recently so I thought I would add my thoughts. We switched to EDF over 2 years ago when we moved home, and I'd used a couple of price comparison websites and EDF/SWEB came up top every time, so I thought it was my only option. We decided to go for the dual fuel thing and pay by monthly direct debit, at least this way we knew exactly what we were going to be paying each month. They chose the payments first based on our situation (size & type of house, how many people living there etc), and after a few months they reduced the payments in accordance with what ... more

2 Stars Global warming my ass! Review with images 11/12/2010

    Advantages Advantages Cheaper

    Disadvantages Disadvantages British Gas crooks!

Warm enough guys! Thought not. So much for global warming! How is it when its warm they bang on about man-made global warming and when its very cold they say it's a freak winter and so not relevant, November almost the coldest on record. I suppose I'm doing just that as a global warming sceptic with this review this week but the fact that 50% of any gas bill price rise is European green taxes; supposedly to help slow global warming is all you need to know on just how any levels we are being ripped off on with the global warming hype. It's my understanding that the warmer it gets the less gas ... more

EDF Energy are a brilliant company to be with when it comes to electricity and gas, i have been with them for nearly a year and i am glad that i did switch and go with them. When i moved flats the previous people used pre-payment card and key (luckily they was with EDF)...i was unsure and first and couldnt be bothered to get someone in to change it all over, but i love being on pre-payment i seem to spend less now then before... Advantages Advantages One of the cheapest energy suppliers at the moment

Disadvantages Disadvantages No branch network / Shops etc

I had noticed that my energy bills were starting to soar through my heavily insulated roof and so I thought I would look around and see if I could save any money on fuel bills.I used two of the many comparison sites out there and on both occassions the company called "London Energy Online" came out cheapest. Lonon energy online is now called EDF. I have to say that the first most striking thing about them is their prices. The average person switching to them from one of the most expensive power suppliers would save about £150. My saving was more substantial than that, but even so what good is ... more

Not only do EDF energy offer great customer service and reasonable rates, they are also the only electricity and gas company that give you nector points, so as your paying your bills in a way you are saving money! When I recived my first EDF energy bill I registed my nector card with the number on the bill and recived 300 ponits straight away!! They also do this great scheme called Reduce reward and what you have to do is submit your meter reading on line every 3 months and you can see how much energy you are using, which can help you reduce how much energy you are using, this is a great idea ... more

    Advantages Advantages Really cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bad customer service

I've been with this company for years getting my electric from them. Although I am on a pre-payment meter, I still pay less than friends and neighbours who get their electric from rival companies. About £7 a week, which I don't think is bad considering I have a 3 bed house and four kids, whose forgetfulness often leaves on lights., and that my washer is always on, and so is the cooker, plus all the usual electrical stuff. So anyway, when I got a call asking if I would like to switch over to them for my gas, I couldn't get transferred quick enough. And I have never looked back. I was on a pre ... more

When I shifted to my newly rented house 4 months ago, I was horrified to find that there was a heavy debt on our electric meter left by previous tenants and we had no option but to pay off that debt in order to use the prepaid meter. So I added an excess of amount on the meter and informed edf about it. The customer services was excellent. They arranged the visit of an electrician the very next day. The meter was latter wiped off all previous details and reset. Not only this they immediately refunded the additional debt amount that I had to add on to the meter. After a few weeks of electricity ... more
