Advantages Advantages HD Video, Megapixel, Picture Quality, Menus, Feel

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sound, Shaky, Noisy

Pretty much anyone with a minuscule amount of creativity within them has gone through a photography phase, whether it was in school, college or as a hobby in later life - Cameras are a brilliant invention, capturing the very essence of life.. and all that jargon. However for some, its more than a phase and becomes a necessity for work, ideas, evidence, beauty etc. It was evident that my college work benefited greatly with the aid of a digital SLR, which at the time was a typically beginner/hobbyist type camera - the cheap and cheery Nikon D40. Irrespective of its simplicity, it got the job ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick to snap pictures, Amazing quality,

Disadvantages Disadvantages The strap is a little fiddly to put on at first, Little grains of dirt can be lodged in the camera

This product is excellent for anyone who is just starting out with Photography or has been for many years. As a self taught amateur photographer I was very pleased to receive this camera a week after I have purchased it from Amazon. The postage and packaging was great, compact and easy to open. Within the box there was instructions on how to set up the camera, which settings are best for your type of photography and it came with a beautiful 18-55mm lens. The settings are easy to use and it can record in HD vision. The lens itself is has macro ability so there is no need to buy an actual macro ... more

When I started with amateur photography I had Sony A200 for a short time but then I wanted to change it for something more professional. As I am still beginner and I read that Canon EOS 550D is good for the start so I bought it. Its body is made of plastic in size of 129x98x75 mm and weight of 530 g. It comes with the EF-S 18-55 mm lens. Its CMOS sensor is in the size 22.33x14.9 mm. LCD display has 3" and resolution of more than 1 million pixels. ISO sensitivity is ranging from 100 to 6,400 (12,800) and exposure compensation if +/-5 EV. According to the manufacturer you can take around 400 ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages built in flash is weak

I bought my canon over a year ago and since it has been a wonder! Whether you a are a beginner or expert in photography it's simplicity and easy manual functions make photography fun and pleasurable. There is a video setting which performs HD video recording and when used correctly gives some amazing results, even in low key lighting situations meaning there is no need for any external lighting. When using making sure you have a large memory card else you will only be able to record around 4minutes on an average card. The auto mode is flawless, I have never had to correct exposure each result ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly pricey

I recently purchased my first DSLR Canon 550S. Wow, what a step up from what I have owned before. I am a rather novice Photographer, but the results are astonishing compared to my Fuji Finepix. The camera is a beautiful piece of equipment. Feels solid too. All the controls are layed out nicely, enabling the user to find their way round with ease. The camera is ideal for nivices like myself, as it has automatic modes, semi automatic modes. Right through to experienced users with full manual modes. There is a whole multitude or lenses that are compatible with this camera. Wide angled lenses ... more

Advantages Advantages Big LCD Screen, 18MP, Live View, Input for Microphone

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, Same size as eos 1000d, Big file sizes

Canon EOS 550D, I bought this camera with the intention of creating fantastic photos with my current range of lenses, also the handy video camera feature is a real bonus, so you have got the best of both worlds in one consumer unit, although extra batteries and memory cards will be required. I have not had the camera very long, but I am loving the camera and the 18MP resolution makes the images really stand out, most of my work you can see on my site: cornishconnect.co.uk Although most image file sizes are 5mb in size and almost double in RAW Mode, my high spec PC sometimes stalls, just beware ... more

The Canon EOS 550D is a great camera for any standard of photographer. I am fairly new to photography and wanted to upgrade my previous DSLR which was not a Canon. I read many reviews of cameras of many makes, in magazines and on line and decided on I liked the sound of the EOS 550D. I went to a camera shop to try the EOS 550D for myself and was not disappointed, the reviews were accurate. This camera not only looks good, it IS good. It takes the most fabulous pictures with amazing picture quality. It has a huge number of features to give the user confidence in their ability to take good ... more

Advantages Advantages Light and compact and exceptionally dynamic for a beginner

Disadvantages Disadvantages the limited scope to experiment kills the mind, this can be a good back-up camera.

When I bought my Canon EOS 550D on the 2nd of march 2011, I never thought that my dream of clicking almost professional pictures will come true at such a short time. I went for the Canon work-shops for free an learnt many new tricks and techniques to optimally use my camera. Ever since then, there was no looking bad. I started carrying my camera everywhere i travel and have been lucky so far to have captured some amazing shots. My friends and family have encouraged me to be different and capture the essence of life and that is what i strive to do with my lens. I recently bought my favorite ... more
