    www.etyres.co.uk A simple service that a stumbled upon when looking to buy new tyres for my motor. As it usaully happens, following a recent trip to the garage I was informed that I had a slow puncture in one rear tyre and the other was 'Getting Close' (garage speak, for 'We will fleece you for a new tyre') Not content with simply taking the garages offer to do it for me I decided to search the intenet for a cheaper option.     Rubber is quite important to us in our daily lives. For some, it's the little pink thing at the end of our pencils, used to rub out the mistakes we make on paper. For others, the use of rubber gloves is important - either medically or simply to prevent your fingers getting wrinkly when you do the washing up. My postman seems to like to use red rubber bands to keep all my bills neatly together, alphabetised by creditor, and because of his propensity to deliver all my letters so neatly wrapped I like to think that he and his missus enjoy wearing rubber gimp suits on a Saturday night.     I've just bought four new tyres for my wife's Micra and, rather than spend an hour in a cold and cheerless tyre centre waiting room, I found e-Tyres on the interweb. This is a service which comes to you and fits the rubber where it's convenient to you - at home or work or wherever. I found the prices were competitive (and quoted all-in, with balancing, valves and fitting, rather than all those vital things being seen as "extras", which I like).     etyres is a web-based company that supplies and fits car tyres [also vans, but not bikes] and car batteries. On visiting the site, you can enter the size of tyre you need. For this, you have to have four pieces of information: width, profile, wheel size and speed rating. Fortunately, all of this information is on the side of the tyres you've already got on your car! They will look something like: 225/45 18 W. On entering this information, you will be presented with a list of various tyre brands and their prices.     Hi All Let's face us we as British motorists get a pretty grim deal at the moment. In my view every penny I save when running my precious car is a very grateful penny saved. So how surprised have I been lately to find a tyre company who not only thinks of its customers first but also rewards them. "Whats the catch" I hear you all shout out.     Etyre very unrealiable and poor customer service. Pls see the mail below which I sent to Etyre MD.Dear Mr MD,First of all let me express my utmost disappointment with your service. As I spoke with your staff yesterday I was expecting your engineers to do the job replacing my tyre today latest. Unfortunately your engineers turned out and said they can not change my tyre as it is on road side.     I needed 4 new tyres for my Toyota RAV-4. After a quick Google search for tyre fitters in my area I discovered E-tyres. The website was very easy to use and came with a warning about not using sites that say they can tell the tyre size from the reg of your car. I checked the tyre size, entered it into the site and got a great price. I opened another tab on my browser and visited 2 other sites to check prices and discovered that not only were E-Tyres much cheaper they were also right about the reg thing too.     I specifically ordered a battery with E-tyres due to their next day delivery and mobile fitting service, as my battery had completely packed in (hence the need for fitting at my home address). I ordered before lunchtime and received confirmation of my order. However later the same evening I received an answerphone message left at 17.50 saying that they did not provide mobile fitting at my home address (only 20mins from oxford!!). They therefore wanted me to bring the car to a fitting centre closer to oxford. Due to the lack of a functioning battery this was clearly not possible. Also by this ... more

    I have just had two tyres fitted this morning by E-tyres. The price was good (Michelin Energy), the service was quick, efficient and friendly. Will use again without hestitation and recommend to friends. Buying tyres has always been a bit of a faff in the past. Not any more. Top marks. Well Done !!!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages When it goes wrong its difficult to get reimbursement

    I thought it was going to be so easy but unfortunately not...it was too good to be true! Booked on line, good price, then had the phone call to say unable to provide the tyre I wanted. No suitable alternative. Cancelled the appt and asked to be reimbursed. After a week no money has been paid into my account and I am fed up phoning to have this rectified! They shouldn't deduct from your Maestro until they can confirm they can carry out the job. Obviously I am less than impressed! I have since contacted KwikFit who can fit similar tyres for a similar price, they aren't charing for disposal or ... more
