...lots to talk about.
Each picture relates directly to the text and is in a box on the opposite side to the text and above the text is a small picture.
When children are looking for the new character, they do have to look quite carefully I like the one where Cinderella in introduced. Look carefully at the cellar picture and there's her hand holding a feather duster- she is behind a large barrel. The Three Bears are quite difficult to spot, but there ... ...something to look at in each scene.

...of these people meeting with each other basically to have a picnic. Children don't necessarily need to know the original rhymes and tales, but I think it adds to the enjoyment if they do!
The story starts on the first page with:
Each Peach Pear Plum
I spy Tom Thumb
This is accompanied by a delightful illustration and the challenge is to actually spy Tom Thumb who is well hidden up a tree. As you turn the pages, the character you have spied on ... ...the Wicked Witch, Robin Hood. Each of these characters are introduced through a rhyming couplet, and they also have to be spied in the picture, which is a lot of fun and this provokes a lot of discussion.
Towards the end of the book though, things change slightly. We meet the three bears again, and THEY spy Baby Bunting who they then rescue from the river. Taking him with them, they go on their way and spot a plum pie which...is all ready for a ...

The only downside from an educational point of view is that the text has no punctuation in it at all so that the inquisitive child can't ask "what's that dot for at the end of the writing?" and so lead to an explanation of a full stop. This is a very very ...

Sturdy?
-------------
Yes the book is really sturdy, its hard book which means that its also very easy for the really small ones to look at as the pages can't get ripped. My 1yr old son like flipping the pages over too. Which is a good job it is made this hard. --------------------------------
... ...they like finding the people on the pages and love listening to it they love the mother hubbard part cause on one page all you see is mother hubbards bum poking out of the corner. My oldest loves to try and read the words she got through the first 2 pages and we are going to do some more when she goes to bed ...

...There is a link from each rhyme and picture to the one on the next pages - for example "Tom Thumb in the cupboard/I spy Mother Hubbard" leads on to "Mother Hubbard in the cellar/I spy Cinderella". The character you have to "spy" in each picture is hidden, but not in such a way that small children won't be able to find them! The text also rhymes so it's a ideal start for rhyming games and we've certainly had lots of fun finding other words that rhyme with with ones in the book.
However, this book is outstanding mainly because of the illustrations. Every picture is full of little details that give children and adults plenty to talk about and an easy way to extend the 'I spy' ...

Each Peach Pear Plum – Book Review
As I teacher this Is one of my favourite books as it has a predictable rhyme scheme which delights young children. Children enjoy looking for characters and objects in the book. Because of its enjoyable rhymes, children quickly learn to recognise words, so I feel it is an invaluable aid for early readers.
