Using Ecover is a way to stand up and be counted. To say a big. Loud NO to all the companies out there that have got us hooked on chemical based, toxic products to clean our homes within an inch of their red-brick little lives.

Also the Ecover made the saucepan lovely and bright – it looked properly clean. Was this because of the lack of residue you have to ask.

Look closely at that price tag, and you will find that whatever your product emporium normally charges for cleaning products, your Ecover will be priced much the same. That's right, it's not going to cost you any more to do this.

Ecover works perfectly well. On first contact, you may think you've bought a dud, for the simple reason that you don't get a bowl full of bubbles. Well, we'll start from the beginning shall we? You'll find Ecover Washing Up Liquid nestling amongst the Fairy and the Persil liquids in just about any store these days, I purchase mine from Waitrose but I am assured it's no longer as scarce as it used to be elsewhere. Ecover is no exception; you squirt a bit in (it's in concentrate form so a teeny bit will do) swirl it around to get a few bubbles and then off you go. The fun part. Anyway, the dishes come out all squeaky and clean and smelling nice so all's good on that score.

Ecover are probably the most famous of the "environmentally-friendly" manufacturers of household detergents. Among their products you will find: cream cleaners; multi-surface cleaners; washing powder; fabric conditioner; bathroom and toilet cleaners; dishwasher tablets. They've been making them since 1979. Advantages: Comes in a one litre bottle Disadvantages: I still have to wash up.
...This op is about Ecover Washing-up liquid. I do not have a dishwasher. This is not from choice but I do feel virtuous by not having one and having to do it myself. In my house we have a washing-up rota which most visitors think is rather funny. The washing up chore is the greatest cause of arguments in our home as no one wants to do it, so the only solution was for a rota to be drawn up. So far this has not meant that the washing up is done promptly, ... ...15 years along with other Ecover products. There is a clear plastic label with an attractive design highlighting the fact that the ingredients are based on plant and minerals, harnessing the power of nature. So there.

Advantages: works better than using horse manure Disadvantages: smells awful, looks like sperm, suds don't last long
I've been a member of CIAO now since 2005, and in that time I've generally only written reviews about products I like, and were available for writing CIAO reviews about, and were mostly full of praise.
However, in that time I've also been itching for something I could review that I could really rip into, Clarkson style. And then I remembered this stuff.
It's been available in the UK since around the early 1990's so far as I can remember, and made ... ...time to time (and usually took a while to get shot of)..
It is aimed at the environmentally conscious, not necessarily those who have been taken in by the overhyped Global warming scam, but mainly those who care about things that genuinely matter, like Water quality, etc
Personally I can't stand the stuff, as for starters it's pretty weak, and the suds don't last as long as a proper washing-up liquid such as Fairy Liquid, and it smells REALLY bad.

~~~About Ecover~~~
Ecover is all about helping the enviroment by way of using natural plant and mineral ingredients to enable us safe and effective cleaning.
They have spent over 20 years researching the development of their products. The United Nations recognised Ecover for outstanding achievements.The enviromental protection of their range benifits both animals and humans.
...The main reason for using Ecover is, of course, it's environmentally-friendly. Rather than creating an eco-friendly product alongside a range of lesser products (like other companies do), Ecover has an all-encompassing policy that extends to the way the whole company operates. So the factories and warehouses all recycle and use energy-efficient resources and so on.
