Advantages Advantages Great kids game for all ages, lots of fun, can help with coordination and learning colours

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not enough butterflies (make your own?), some butterflies get stuck in trunk

I brought Elefun for my nephews third birthday. I got it from Toys R Us (in the board games aisle) for £14.69. I choose Elefun as I remembered having lots of fun playing the very same game with my cousins about 15 years earlier. To my suprise the game hadn't changed at all, unlike many toys which seem to get facelifts and upgrades. The game is recommended for children 3 years onwards which I would say is about the right age - my daughter who is 2 enjoys this game but can't seem to actually catch any butterflies! I'd say Elefun would be fun for children upto about 10 years of age but wouldn't ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for hand-eye co-ordination

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Losing butterflies, noisy

My 3 year old son saw the advert for Elefun on television in the lead-up to Christmas (yes I am a bad mother who lets her kids watch T.V.). All I heard for about 3 months was "mummy I want the elephant game". He did receive this game from Santa Clause and I think I was almost more excited about playing with it than he was! This is one of the first games that we could play as a family, and I wanted it to be great! When you open the box you find the elephant base where you put the butterflies in (bits of parachute material sewn in the middle to make a butterfly shape),a long plastic trunk that ... more

My son seen this game advertised on tv just before christmas , everytime the ad came on he would get so excited and ask us to take him to Tesco`s so daddy could buy it for him! So we decided to get him this for christmas as I wanted him to have some games that we as a family could take part in. Inside the box you will find Elephant - which is made out of strong plastic and is blue in colour Trunk - this is a blue plastic material 30 butterflies - red, green and yellow (for some reason there are no blue ones) 4 handles and nets - red ,green, yellow & blue, you have to fit the nets onto the ... more

Advantages Advantages Not cruel to animals

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor fan makes it unplayable.

I'll start by declaring a slight prejudice against children's games. They are, as can be quickly realised, rubbish. There you go. Short but sweet. Too short in fact. Another 130 words to go. Elefun stands out as being especially rubbish. King of rubbish in fact. It has taken 150 years but it is becoming obvious that the Victorians had the best ideas about childhood. Give 'em a paper bag and a hoop and a child will be happy for hours. When they get bored of that, (strangely, by the age of 6,) send them down a mine and let them play with shovels and eat coal. That is the way to a childhood full ... more

    Advantages Advantages None

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It's utter rubbish

This was a Christmas gift for my 3 year old daughter, and while I know it’s only a week since Christmas so a review is perhaps a bit premature...but wait for it...this toy is utter rubbish, and I need to spread the word. I’d seen it around in the shops and avoided it myself because I’ve had experience of novelty Play-Doh kits and most of them are not as good as you’d expect, so I knew this was not going to be any better. Anyway, on Boxing Day I opened the box for my daughters to see how much fun we could get out of it. For anyone who doesn’t know, Elefun is actually a game by MB Games which ... more

Advantages Advantages It gets your children moving around trying to catch the butterflies

Disadvantages Disadvantages After a few games my daughters got bored.

We brought Elefun for our daughters for Christmas from Woolworths. It cost us about £10 you can buy the game from many other places including: Amazon which at the moment is priced at £8.48, with free delivery if you go for super saver delivery. The game states it's suitable for children 3 year and over and is best played with 2-4 players. The game comes complete with: Elefun head base, trunk, 4 butterfly nets with handles and 30 butterflies. When we opened the box at first we thought they had forgot to put the nets in etc but they are inside the base of the elephant head. The nets handles are ... more

ELEFUN. ------------------------ I recently purchased this for my six-year-old son for his birthday as he had been nagging me for it for about 5 months. Eventually I gave in and subjected myself to the obsession they call Elefun the Elephant, a decision that I now regret. I bought Elefun from Argos for convenience, as I was able to have it delivered along with a few other items I need to order so I did not really have to pay extra for delivery. About Elefun. ------------------------- Elefun is a game aimed at children four years of age and over and is suitable for 2-4 players. It retails in ... more

Advantages Advantages Good to spend time with your kids

Disadvantages Disadvantages Butterflies everywhere all at once, game shortlived

This was bought for my 2 year old daughter for Christmas because she loves butterflies and we thought she would enjoy seeing the butterflies shoot out of the elephant's trunk - whoever thought up that idea must have been high at the time... Anyway, the game consists of a blue plastic elephant which holds the butterflies (tiny little pieces of material with a twist in the middle to make them look like butterflies), and inside this elephant is a fan which blows the butterflies out when you turn it on. You attach the (very) long trunk, which is made from a kind of extra thick carrier bag material ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to assemble, your child will love it, base is indestructible

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor trunk design makes this a major irritant to parents.

Elefun claims to be "The Motorised Air-Puffing Butterfly Catching Game" and to be fair to the people at Hasbro, when you first purchase it this is the case. The rules of Elefun are simple, catch as many of the forty butterflies as possible using your net. The one with the most, wins the game. Setting up Elefun is straightforward. After inserting four gargantuan D size batteries into the base, the game is operated by a plastic elephant shaped body containing a motorised fan which you place on the floor. After putting all the butterflies into the elephant you screw the plastic nose onto the body ... more

Advantages Advantages Very easy to play

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hoovering up stray butterflies days later!

My youngest son (and I suspect a lot of other children) generally ignores the vast contents of his toy box/toy cupboard/bedroom (in fact the whole house is stacked with toys) and favours just the odd few. This game is one of the chosen ones! I've sometimes been a little short of ideas as to what games to buy him. Many a time he has shown more interest in the packaging than the actual contents! Which is why, having come across this little gem, I thought I would do a review about it, hopefully helping anybody else who encounters the same problem. For my mind, the reason this game is so ... more
