Advantages Advantages A marvel for the money

Disadvantages Disadvantages bulky if i really must complain

£500 has never felt more like £1,000 worth of kit before. To say that I am thrilled with the performance of my Eltax set-up would be to underestimate the enjoyment I'm getting from them. Having upgraded from Dolby Pro-Logic to Dts, 5.1 etc a few years back, I bought an all in package, comprising of a Technics receiver and satellites and an Eltax sub. Things started off great, over-awed by all the new sounds floating around my room, and the oomph of the sub, I was happy. Then, over the course of time, I realised that the only thing producing any significant bass was the sub. I tried ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent mid-priced speakers at budget price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not small!

My pair of Eltax Liberty 5 floor standing speakers give astonishing results and cost a lot less than I expected. These impressive beasts give true mid priced performance at very little more than budget cost. I bought just the main speakers on their own, and paid around the hundred pound mark, where else, but Richer Sounds. This was part of a two stage ploy to get some semi-serious audio kit into the house without 'er indoors taking a tantrum! They stand a full 84cm off the ground, are 20cm wide and are 33 cm front to back, but the shouldn't be pushed against a wall as this restricts the rear ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent affordability and sound

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Is there any?

I purchased these last year from Richer Sounds, which is only one a of a few places that actually sell Eltax products, aswell as the odd shop and hi-fi store. I thought the floor standing ones looked so much more impressive than the book shelf ones, and paid an extortionately heavy price of £110! They look impressive to look at and the colour of the wood to the single bass and single tweeter cones work perfectly (I chose the Beech colour wood with metallic and white cones). Sped home in a taxi and after figuring out how to bi-wire them I set about positioning them in my match box room! They ... more

    Advantages Advantages Price, performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only available from one or two outlets

Performance of a £600 home cinema 5 channel system for only £200! Add a sub woofer for another £80 - £100. Good build quality and appearance. Good size. Wonderful integration and consistency of sound. Danish style and build quality. Go very loud without distortion and hammer out bass - so much that I have not needed a sub woofer.......the room shakes without the need for one. I bought at closer to £300 but Richer Sounds now do them for £199. The bi polar rear speakers are little gems - discrete, nice sounding, stylish and get around potential siting problems if you cant get perfect speaker ... more
