Totally Worth It?

Advantages: Impressive Scope, Great depth, Visually stunning
Disadvantages: A bit same-y, Long loading times, Occasionally wretched AI

...you buy a hard-copy of Empire: Total War you'll need to activate it online via _Steam_, a free digital distribution service run by _Valve_, the creators of Half-Life. Now, some people avoid Steam like the plague but this is more on account of its troublesome beginnings and not the current state of affairs; I personally think it's a care-free way to buy games and a decent method of piracy prevention; unlike, say, the incredibly obnoxious Tagis, as ...
...'''***OVERALL***''' Empire: Total War is a massive game that safely expands on its predecessors, without taking as many risks as it ought to. There exist serious problems that, despite being present throughout the franchise, the developers are simply unwilling to tackle and that gamers seem resigned to accepting. Kinda like Football Manager having awful graphics and virtually no sound but no fan seeming to mind. So while I recommend Empire to series ...

Stunning Graphics can't Hide the Disappointing Gameplay

Advantages: Stunning Graphics
Disadvantages: Poor Gameplay, Price

I have owned and played the 2 previous titles from this series both of which have taken up large parts of my time. However having purchased this game only 2 months ago I found myself quickly becoming bored of it and only played it for 3 weeks. Before I go into detail about the many poor aspects ...
...previous titles and it challengers. The graphics are simply stunning, so much so that during battles it can be quite easy to forget about your battle preparation just to watch the individual units climbing over fences, loading guns and charging. Ship battles also look beautiful especially when zoomed into see each sailor following order or being blown of the ship. These graphics however are only fully appreciated on a high spec computer with considerable ...

Empire total war

Advantages: Huge land battles, new sea battles, massive campaign map
Disadvantages: Have to have online steam account to play

Aside from the fact that you have to have an online steam account to play this game , which in my opinion is an awful idea i think this is the next step in the total war series , it has been simplified a bit to previous games in the series and has added in some new things that blow you away. this game makes the oceans a key part of the game, which in my opinion makes it stand out in front of any other game of its type , the sea battles and trade ...
...absolutely unbelievable as the series has been known for, the choice of nations, huge campaign map and different ways in which to complete campaigns make this game seem new again and again, the multiplayer part of the game bring the epic battles you enjoy in the single player to life against people all over the world. An awesome step into the future of this genre of game. ...
