    Advantages Advantages the cheapest for many electrical items, user friendly website, easy to buy things, good range, simple collection method. Easy to find.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages could be confused with "Empire stores" (which are not the cheapest) All done over the internet (which might not suit some people)

    I first actually used this store when I was looking for a laptop computer. I had known about it (through YOUATWORK, a discount shopping club) but had never actually bothered with it becasue I do generally like to see products before I buy them. However, in this instance I knew what I was looking for because I had trawled round the PC stores looking and had not been impressed by the customer service I was getting.     I bought a digital camera from empiredirect just 3 days ago. After a lengthy search around all my usual online/highstreet retailers they were the cheapest by £30 (camera £279. A saving on the the normal price of £80) They promised to deliver the camera within 3-5 days, mine took 1 week however this was because the camera was currently out of stock. I emailed them after the 5 days was up and a got a rapid phone call back from one of their sales staff who informed me that it would be delivered on the coming tuesday.... and much to my surprise it was dlivered 9am on that tuesday, which i was ... more

    I have just moved house. My girlfriend and I have taken the plunge and got a place together. It's a lovely house but completely unfurnished. So we have a cooker, a fridge (legal requirements!) but we didn't have the basic essentials of a washing machine and a Hoover. Enter (stage left) the brilliant EMPIRE DIRECT! Empire Direct have been awarded the coverted "E Trader of the Year 2002" award. Not hard to see why, frankly.     Empire Direct are a company that specialise in selling brand named electrical equipement at a lower cost than high street stores. On average most things are at 30% cheaper than at the likes of Comet and Currys. Empire have been in business for 18 years and the online side are members of RETRA and Which? Webtrader and have also achieved BS ISO 9002. The site itself is very easy to navigate around.     I used empiredirect.co.uk to purchase a new washing machine after finding them through pricerunner.co.uk (the price comparison site). I wanted a specific model of washing machine so naturally searched for it. I found it instantly. Every product had a very thorough description along with a decent photo. After browsing through others (even though I hadn't intend on doing as I knew what I wanted), I selected what I wanted then went on to order. I was impressed by their level of service.     I have been shopping on the Internet for a couple of years now. I regularly purchase small consumables such as DVDs, CDs, books, printer ink and paper etc. However, when it came to spending £800 on a new TV I had to stop and draw breath at the prospect of buying it from an Internet retailer. It goes without saying that there are huge savings to be made in comparison to high street prices but what if the product goes wrong? Delivery times? Delivery costs?     Advantages Advantages cheaper, you can research the product more (goto the offical website etc), wide range of products

    Disadvantages Disadvantages You can't talk to a live person about the product, skeptisicsm on comebacks , unsure about credit card details over the internet.

    I have recently bought two televisions one from an off-line retailer and the other from an e-tailer named empire direct. Don't get me wrong both televisions are excellent and I wouldn't change either, the thing I would do diffrently though would be getting my retailer television from empire direct, as if I had done this first of I would not only have saved myself over £100 but I would also have had the satisfaction of knowing that I had saved myself a ton of money. The main reason I got my first televison from a shop was because I was influenced by people who was not au fait with technology ... more

    I have recently moved house and part of this moved was the change from an unfurnished to a furnished flat. So, amongst other items we needed a TV and a Hoover. Where to buy such products, I murmured and muttered to myself, as my eye fell on an advert for empiredirect.co.uk. Cheap electrical products, the reason for the discount, so the advert claims are the larger stocks and smaller admin costs that empiredirect has over the high street.     OK, Online shopping, much has been said about it, not all good, not all bad, but people seem unsure about it all. Now personally, I have never had a problem with online shopping, there's months when my entire credit card bill is .com this and .co.uk that, online shopping certainly doesn't scare me!
